Good morning everyone

Sunny here, but more cloud than yesterday. It's expected to be warm and dry today, but then overnight, it's expected to disintegrate with heavy rain, thunderstorms, typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions in Edinburgh, Snowdonia and the Cheviot Hills (some of which is true, some isn't ).

I did know. As a child, we climbed to the top of Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, and the rock which Edinburgh Castle is built on was formed by an extinct volcano system.

Good morning everyone, it's a bit cloudy and cool here, like everyone else we are due for rain later and many of EL's predictions too I fear   I do often see little tornado shapes from clouds over the sea, little tiny ones that would only produce a little water spout if they ever touched the surface of the sea, fascinating though.

I hope all goes well with the meeting Skylark and that the passport turns up soon.  I hate that, I often put things away in a 'safe place' and then can't find them

squiggle

Squiggle, thanks for letting us know - I did resee Roman Holiday fairly recently, and it is a wonderful film.

I did see Gideon of Scotland Yard. It was OK, but with the police television series which have been made since 1958 such as The Bill, it is possibly less convincing now than it was back then. On a point of trivia, it was Anna Massey's film debut (she played Gideon's daughter) and her godfather was John Ford who directed the film.

Glad you found the passport, Skylark. I was around age 10-12 when I climbed Arthur's Seat, but I'd need one of those ski lifts to get me up there now.

Glad the meeting went well.

Wish I'd seen your post about Roman Holiday, Squiggle. I've seen it before but would have been happy to watch the lovely Audrey again.

Mr Yogi had a half day from work, so he took me out and about. We stopped off at the garden centre for some bird food - I need to vary my blackbird's diet, he'll get diabetes from all these raisins. He brings his wife with him now and they are still feeding chicks, so they fly off with 4 or 5 raisins in their beaks each time they visit. I had to shut Keira and Harvey indoors when I was feeding the blackbirds, as they kept eating the raisins.

A couple of plants found their way into my trolley - a Sweet William and another one ( I can't remember what it is and it doesn't have a sticker or a little card with it, anyway it looks pretty).

Thats some trolley you get , Yogi, it seems to attract plants

I buy those small boxes of raisins for Granddaughter. I used to give Kia a few. I didnt know until i watched a programme..it may have been Paul O'Grady..that they can be toxic for dogs. I dont know how high a volume tho, but you were right taking Keira and Harvey indoors x

How lovely, your family of blackbirds

evening A pleasant & productive day my pregnant friend is looking well and is ready for the impending arrival MIL's best friend who breeds dogs, gave bramble the thumbs up, I had a meeting with my accountant- all's well there and then I had a lovely walk with bramble Skylark I'm so relieved your son found his passport! I actually held my breath reading the posts above

Skylark, I am so glad I mentioned the dogs eating the raisins, as I had no idea they could be toxic to some dogs. I was just trying to prevent them eating the blackbird's raisins.

It seems that some dogs can get acute renal failure by eating as few as 7 raisins or grapes, while other dogs can ingest large amounts with no problem at all.

I'm not willing to take the risk, so I'll take special care to ensure there are no raisins left on the ground after the blackbirds have eaten.

Summer, when is your friend's baby due and does she know whether it's a boy or girl?

Of course the breeder friend of your MiL gave Bramble the thumbs up - she is perfect.

Good morning everyone

A wet night here (no surprise there), very cloudy at present but should be dry this morning. Just as well as I'm shortly off to see a client the other side of Gloucester and she lives in a house near the bottom of a hill. Good view of Gloucester from her house. Then this afternoon and night more rain.

Just checked the Nailsworth weather site and the amount of rain we've had to date already puts this area just into the top 10% of the wettest Junes on record. As more rain is expected, I'm keeping a check on that to see the record is broken. I suspect not.

See you later.

Yogi, I hope all goes well at the dentist. I wonder if they sell plants there

Squiggle, we had 3 days of summer in Gloucester as Monday was OK here but your area had rain. We can now look forward of 2 weeks of watching endless replays of past tennis matches on television as apart from Centre Court where they will be able to have matches as it's covered, the forecast for the Wimbledon over the next few weeks is not good. I'm half expecting them to announce that Wimbledon will be curtailed with just the seeded singles players competing as that may be the only way it can get completed.

Oh Yogi, i hope i didnt alarm you, i assumed you knew. Sorry xx  I am glad i watched the programme now, or i wouldnt have known either, its something you wouldnt think of really is it?

Hi everyone , raining here quite heavily, depressing.

FM

Skylark, well done on remembering that about raisins being deadly for some dogs. I wasn't aware of that, but you are completely right about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G...sin_toxicity_in_dogs

It only affects some dogs, and no-one really knows why.

I hope the rain for you goes away, but for what little consolation it is, we are all suffering from rain. After a dry morning, it's just started again here.

El Loro

El, there were no plants for sale at the dentist, however there will be some at Morrisons when I go shopping this afternoon.

The dentist has smoothed the edges of my broken tooth, but he couldn't do much more as the back facing has completely broken off. As the filling still seems quite secure and it isn't giving me any pain, we are leaving things alone for the moment. If it starts to give me any pain, I might need to consider a crown.

Skylark, please don't apologise for mentioning the raisin issue with the dogs, I'm really grateful to you as I didn't know about it. Keira is good at obeying the "leave!" command but I'll make sure she doesn't get anywhere near the raisins.

Yogi19
Yes it's cold squiggle, I had gloves on during my lunch trip to the shops! I hid in the warm reading my book though so I had a great time they're in Yosemite, I would LOVE to go there! I knew about the raisins, but only because my friend warned me, I often eat them as a snack so am glad I was told. Apparently they can kill young puppies
