Oh wow that is odd. We might get to 20,000 posts on page 500, seems spooky so many round numbers.
I'm back from my client and my brother has just arrived and is unpacking so I'll have to be brief. Train was OK and he didn't get wet walking from the station to my house
We get 40 posts per page so 50 pages x 40 = 20,000. The number of posts shown at the list of threads is the number of replies so doesn't include the opening post. The 20,000 post will be the 40th and last one of this page.
It seems odd to me that you get a set number of posts per page whether the post is short or long I was never very good at maths.
I'll post this quickly before we get to 20,000 posts.
This is a pic of my dad (well, actually it's just his hand) with one of the three blackbirds he hand-feeds.
El, glad your brother arrived safely and avoided the rain.
Summer, it's amazing how quickly they grow, they don't stay puppies for long, unfortunately.
Skylark, I can't believe how little we get for our money atm.

No i dont get that either squiggle
Lovely pics Yogi x Yes i agree the price of food is shocking. I only went for basics, really..bread,milk, meat for sandwiches, fruit, veg etc, not much change out of ÂĢ40 and hardly anything to show for it. Will have to get more shopping tomorrow
Glad your brother arrived ok El x
Love the van Summer
Hi Summer x No cant drive, i always say it is my gift to the world!
Meant to say Yogi, i was laughing visualising your son cuddled up with Keira
Thanks Summer. I love that my dad's had the patience to get three (two males and a female) wild birds to feed from his hand. The female is so tame now, she sometimes hops into my parent's kitchen when they leave the door open.
Skylark, I wish middle son had taken a pic of youngest son cuddled up with Keira, then I could have posted it for you.

There may be another time Yogi
Thats so lovely about your dad feeding the birds.
Signing off now, will say goodnight, sleep well all
Have they named mrs blackbird?
Have they named mrs blackbird?
My dad calls her "the wee yin"( which translates as "the little one") because she was very small and in poor condition, when she started coming to the garden. She's in good condition now.
Goodnight Skylark.
Sorry skylark, didn't see you post, we were at the same time!
Sweet dreams
Aw I like the name yogi
I'm turning in now, sweet dreams yogi & Ros
Goodnight Summer, I'm off to bed, too.
Goodnight night owls.
Good morning everyone
It's very cloudy here and rain is coming. We're hoping to do our shopping fairly soon before it gets heavy.
Is Mrs Blackbird (the wee yin) related to Billy Connolly (the Big Yin) ?
I think the coding used for this forum is programmed for 40 posts a page. It's easier to program that than trying to post based on the number of letters per page. You couldn't do it on lines per page because of pictures would confuse it. I've done a spot of simple programming over the years and I can see the practical problems of doing it a different way. If you haven't already realised it, the number of postings per page on dialogs/PMs is 20 apart from the first page which has 21. When you make a posting there you may notice that the page after posting shows the very first posting at the top of the page even if you are on page 1000. That's only for dialogs, not for threads on the forum. Just don't ask me why that is, it just is
We watched A Little Princess, the 1995 version, last night. A charming film and worth watching if you get a chance to see it. It is one of the best children's films ever made and is certainly watchable by adults. It's also prety faithful to the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett which is read when I was a child.
Have a great day everyone
Good morning everyone, it has been dreadful weather here, a little drier now but just to show you how much rain we are having, I have a green box the same size as a recycling box which I keep near the pond and it collects rainwater from where it drips down from the gutter over the door. Yesterday my grandson emptied it into the pond for me, which is what it's for, and by the time I got back from running him home it was half full again. Needless to say it's brimming over again this morning.
I am glad I can leave all the maths to you EL, I hope you are managing to enjoy the weekend with your brother.
Off to the hairdressers soon, hope I can dodge the rain.
Good morning everyone. It's pouring with rain up here.
I've got water coming in from the top of my backdoor, I have a bucket under it to collect the water. Mr Yogi is going to take a look at it, but needs to wait until the rain stops.
@ El's Billy Connelly comment.
As a child, I loved A little Princess, as well as What Katy Did, Ballet Shoes and Little Women.
I hope you don't get drenched on your way to the hairdressers, Squiggle.
Morning all x
Awful weather here, and dont know what to do with a very active 4 year old! Had pencilled in going to the zoo today, dont think so! Talking about films, we may just have a DVD day and go out later for a walk IF it clears.
Hope the weather doesnt spoil your hair squiggle x
Is it rain water coming in Yogi? What a bother.
I watched BB last night for the first time, what can i say , they are some bunch
Have a good day everyone, whatever you are up to
Back safely, still pouring and blowing a gale Great British Summer (see picture below)
I loved Little Women and What Katy Did, as well as all the Enid Blyton but I missed Little Princess and Ballet Shoes, oh and my absolute favourite Black Beauty.
I listened to you and the other Buddies and didn't get it chopped.
My hairdresser says I'm nearly there.
Shame the weather ruined your plans for the zoo, Skylark. Maybe you'll be able to go next weekend.
It is rainwater which is coming in. The door was fitted last year, when the kitchen was renovated and this is the first time there has been a problem.
Squiggle, I loved Enid Blyton books, they were my absolute favourites, and I liked Black beauty too.
You need to give us a twirl to show off your hairdo.
I've been out with youngest and middle son to a big shopping centre near us. We were all buying Father's day presents. My dad is so difficult to buy, as he is a man of simple pleasures and never really asks for anything in particular.
There is another large shopping centre near to us, which we decided not to visit today. What a stroke of luck that was - apparently Joey Essex (some guy from TOWIE )was doing a personal appearance and the shopping centre was packed with young girls.
Coming right up Yogi I'm glad you decided to keep going with the hair, it will be worth it

You look very pretty all in pink, with your lovely new hairdo.
Thank you
Gaaaaawjuss squiggle
Evening summer, have you had a good day?
Evening yogi
Yes thank you I just ate a t-bone steak!
How was your day?!

Ooh yummy!
My day was good. Went shopping with middle and youngest sons.
Chilled out in the afternoon. Middle son's's fiancÃĐe called in to pick him up after she finished work and DiL picked up Harvey, who had been on a sleepover (and no escapes), so all good.
I'm afraid I'm a bit sleepy now, so I'm off to bed.
Goodnight Summer, see you tomorrow.
Sounds like a lovely day yogi what did you buy?
Sleep well yogi
Good morning everyone
We did the shopping yesterday and missed the rain. Although it did rain some yesterday it wasn't anything like as bad as in squiggle's photo. Apart from that day in July 2007 where Gloucestershire was flooded, the heaviest rain I've ever been in was years ago when I was on a course in Birmingham, went out at lunchtime. I was in a bookshop, looked out of the window at the sky which was a dirty brown colour, and the rain was beyond being heavy. I had to go back to the office where the course was. Although I had a coat and an umbrella, they were hopeless in that rain as the rain just bounced back up from the pavement a couple of feet so by the time I got back I was soaked to the skin. Luckily I had a change of clothing with me as I had my suitcase with me.
Have a great day everyone and congrats in advance to the 20,000 post mark
Good morning everyone, I am thrilled to say it is dry here and with dry weather forecast for a few days. The rain was beyond ridiculous this last week and when I was running my grandson home on Thursday the rain was the second heaviest I have ever seen. The other time was when I was 15 and with my parents on the road to Paris (we had to pull the car over you couldn't drive through it) and that was called a cloudburst so I assume it was similar to the rain you saw EL.
I hope it's dry for everyone today, have a good day everyone.
Morning
Rain here was awful yesterday and last night it was torrential and very windy. Very gloomy now, but rain off, for a bit.
Just getting granddaughter ready , she is off for the day with nana. Would love to say she is wearing shorts and t-shirt, but its wellies, thick tights and heavy raincoat. Cant believe its June
Good afternoon everyone. Although it is overcast, it has stayed dry so far today.
Summer, yesterday, we were buying Father's Day pressies (and I managed to slip in a few T-shirts, too).
I'm going to post this quickly because I think the next post will be the 20,000th one.
