I got a bit excited as i could see something orange through the blinds - it was a street lamp.

No sign of it yet but I'll keep looking out.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and dry at present, but rain is expected later for the rest of the day.

Summer and Yogi, I found this short clip of yesterday's orange moon. It was shot in Belarus which must have had clearer skies than in this country.

At sunrise tomorrow morning there's the transit of Venus across the face of the Sun. It is a very rare event and won't happen again in our lifetimes. In order to be able to see it you would need to have a clear view of the horizon where the sun rises and you must use special glasses/telescope to look at it. Using sunglasses would be of zero help and you would be permanently blinded. The weather forecast is such that it is unlikely that anyone in this country will be able to see it, but I'm sure they will have it on the news.

Good morning everyone, I think the rain is about to start and then I think it sweeps across most of the rest of the country.

Shame the visibility was so bad for seeing the orange moon.  Was there a reason for the orange moon at this time?  I remember seeing a huge moon when we took off at Heathrow Airport when I was about 16. It was in the month of  July and  people said it was a harvest moon and it was definitely orange.

Annoying not being paid for yesterday and today Summer, still soon you will be in charge and running your own ship.

Morning a little chilly but it's been a sunny start here How unusual El, sunrise will be very early tomorrow won't it! Yogi lol well at least the ironing is done my house needs a thorough clean right through, and some throwing out is in order too Squiggle, I'll get paid for yesterday, which is why not paying me for today is so annoying. You'd like a parting gift of a jubilee holiday would have been nice I hope everyone has a lovely day

What an animal related morning I am having.

First of all, Mr Yogi called me at 7a.m. to say Keira had been unwell during the night (I'll leave it to your imagination), as he ran out the door.

Later on, I went out to cut the grass in the front garden, and found a labrador wandering aimlessly. He was obviously lost and although he was wearing a collar, it didn't have an identity disc.

Fortunately, whilst I was giving him a drink (I'd put Keira's lead on him so he didn't wander off again), one of my neighbours said she thought she recognised him. With a bit of detective work, I managed to find his owner and return him home - he had been sunbathing in the back garden and done a runner. Remind you of anyone?!

When I got back home, I went out into the back garden to cut the grass and a male blackbird had gotten one of his legs tangled up in the netting which is over my vegetables. I grew up with my dad's racing pigeons flapping around me so I'm fine with birds. I manged to untangle most of the netting and cut the last little bit off. He seems fine and is hiding at the back of the garage, and I've put some raisins down for him to eat. Poor little thing was scared stiff.

It's only ten past eleven and I'm already exhausted with all this drama.

Morning all

You have had a morning of it Yogi! Poor Keira is it something she has eaten, maybe ?

I was unpopular this morning, getting my son up at 4.30 am , only to be told he was on the late shift! Thinking it was a noon start, i let him sleep on. it was panic stations when i found out it was a 11am start. He made it in time, thank goodness.

Lovely day here, but to rain later

It is very rare and is probably caused by volcanic ash in the atmosphere. More about it on the NASA website:

It does have a photo of a blue moon but admits that this was photographed through a blue filter (and the chances are that most photographs showing a blue moon have been done that way). The term "once in a blue moon" comes from calling a second full moon in a calendar month a blue moon as it doesn't happen (roughly once every 32 to 33 months).

Keira has always had a dodgy digestive system, so it probably is something she has eaten. Son has been taking her on long walks where she has been off lead, so perhaps she ate something iffy when she's been in the fields - I dread to think what!

@ you waking son at 4.30am when he was on late shift. I can imagine what his reaction was.

The little blackbird has come out from hiding behind the garage but it hasn't flown away. I think it is still in shock, so I'm keeping guard to make sure next door's cat doesn't come near it.

Yogi19

My dog has a dodgy tummy at times too, hope Keira is on the mend.
Oh what a thought if the cat gets the birdie, poor thing.

Yes El, son is not chuffed, he should get double time, but tax will put paid to any extra, no doubt. I think they want to get on, as work has been held back with all that rain we had. He is working till 6.30 but hoping he will get away before then.

Skylark was your son annoyed with you?  And you had to get up early to call him too, I don't suppose you were able to get more sleep because you had to wake him later either.

A stressful start to the day for you too Yogi, will you have to be careful what Keira eats for the rest of the day?  I hope the blackbird recovers soon, it sounds like quite a shock to his system.

Exactly the same at my house. I have a thing about good time-keeping, I even refused to be the traditional 5 or 10 minutes late for my wedding. I said that if I were late, Mr Yogi would assume I'd ditched him at the altar.

I must admit, when we go on holiday, son does get up for work without a problem. I think it's because they know they can rely on us to get them up, that they don't take responsibility for it themselves.

Yet again, it's probably our own fault.

A bit of good news. The blackbird ate some raisins then he took off, so he seems none the worse for his escapade with the netting.

I'll keep Keira on fluids for today, then start her off with some porridge tomorrow and see how she goes from there.

I am the same as you both, I too like order and routine and I am a stickler for being on time for things.  I wouldn't have wanted to be late for my wedding either, I would have felt it to be rude to my future hubby.

I suppose it will be a good guide to see if Keira accepts being on fluids only or is looking for more.  If she is looking for more you will know she is feeling better, goodness knows what she ate yesterday   I am glad the blackbird recovered, your good deed for the day

My dad's the same, too. He would far rather be too early for something,  than a couple of minutes late.

Keira did show some interest in my sandwich at lunchtime, so maybe she's starting to feel a bit better.

I was so relieved when the blackbird flew away, as next door's cat was in their garden. The cat wouldn't dare come into my garden when Keira's about, so she acted as the bird's bodyguard.
