Ah, Berwick, so northlerly it's more north than the south west corner of Scotland. Going back in history it changed hands between England and Scotland over a dozen times, but that's a long time ago.

Mr Yogi always cheers, when we cross the border into England.

Sorry El, I don't have a clue about cricket but I'll still hope the man in question gets his hat-trick.

El, I hope the cricketer is successful, it'd be something great on the news!

IMO, it is not possible to overdo the doggie pics.

A 1000 doggy pics a day might be a bit much

That may be a few too many.

Hi everyone

Lovely pics of Bramble Summer
Heavy rain again here, hopefully it will be dry tomorrow for the big match. My son is beside himself with excitement. He is off work today because of the rain and says thanks for your good wishes and hopes his team comes back with the cup

Dont expect i will get back on today, so have a good day everyone

The respected German baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau has died, aged 86. In the days when I was living with my parents, my father often had Radio 3 on during meals so I heard Fischer-Dieskau singing many times over the years. He's best known for his rendition of Schubert's songs so I'll post this as a little tribute.

He was asked by Benjamin Britten to be in the premiere performance of his War Requiem in 1962. I will post a link to part of this as it is extremely serious music with photographs of soldiers in the trenches etc. This part is sung by him (the deeper voice) and Peter Pears (the higher voice).

I loved Top Cat! I sooooooooooo need to see that movie.

Been to get my hair cut today. Hairdresser says only another 6 weeks until the new style I want will be complete. Thank goodness, because this transitional stage is driving me up the wall!

Summer, I hope Bramble didn't injure that wabbit. Keira has been known to "kill" her soft toys.

Good morning everyone (ooh, we've now got a bigger smiley box)

Skylark, I hope the match goes well this afternoon. I had a suspicion you and your family might be interested in the Top Cat film

Some rain overnight, cloudy but dry at present.

There was a little item on the news yesterday and I think that there's just a tiny little chance that you might just possibly want to see it.

Norman previously did this which is a bit longer

Aww, that's a shame.

I don't think he will be too upset - he got 7 wickets in the first innings and had already got 1 in the second, and the chances are that either he or Strauss will get the man of the match award.

I guess that will be of some consolation.

Hi allx

Well that was awful football, son left 30 minutes before the end as many others. He jumped in a taxi with one of his mates as the others were waiting on the coaches, and got a train back. There was a bad feeling around, so he did the right thing just getting back to Edinburgh. They all got their tickets at different times so most werent sitting together. He is gutted i have to say. He is having a pint in the local pub, the others are all back, but Police everywhere, anticipating fights tonight. He will be home shortly. Bad day for Scottish football when even the manager had the Police escorting him off.

Thanks guys xx

Haven't been able to post in here all day, I've tried the same message many times!
Been a long, busy one..
My mum is here but I'll try to pop in when I can.

Skylark I hope your son is alright, I haven't heard what happened yet but it sounds dodgy

El, slimferns jewellery thread was brilliant, thanks for the pointer.

Yogi I love that hairstyle keep persisting, it'll be worth it

Squiggle, ros & joyron I hope you're having a lovely weekend
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Another cloudy but dry day here. Temperatures still below average for this time of year but they are forecasting warmer temperatures in a couple of days.

Summer, I have similar delays to you in getting on this thread and posting things but if I wait I do get through.

Skylark, I hope your son got back from the local last night without incident - I assume he will be staying well clear of the victory parade today. Summer, it's not that there was any major crowd trouble at the match - the police have praised the behaviour of the supporters, it was the nature of the defeat which was upsetting. First time in 116 years the two Edinburgh sides met in the cup final, Hearts won then and again yesterday, leaving Hibs without having won that cup for 110 years.

Good morning everyone.    Rather overcast here at the moment and the wind is quite strong too.  Looking forward to some warmer weather this week.

Have managed to get into this thread after many attempts.  Glad everyone is okay.  Sorry about the football result Skylark.

Have a good day whatever you are doing.  Will catch up with you all tomorrow (if the page will load)

It was a nice service at church today. Our church is twinned with a church in Sweden, and their choir (48 of them) were with us this morning. They sang a very plesant anthem (Swedish so can't tell you what it was called) and during the communion distribution a couple of Swedish hymns. The women were wearing the Swedish national costume rather like this:

The men were wearing what looked almost like military uniforms - black with sort of military insignia on their shoulders.

It's the golden wedding anniversary of a couple at church who I have known for years. Generally they go to an earlier service but today they came to my service along with some family and friends. During the service they renewed their wedding vows.

I saw in the congregation some visiitors I was not expecting to see - I assume they were there because of being amongst the couple's friends. They were the previous vicar who was with us for many years and I worked with throughout that time when I was the church treasurer, along with his wife and his personal secretary. I was able to have a chat with them and it was nice to see them again. He and the personal secretary are not in the best of health but they seemed to be happy to see us again.

Good morning everyone

Yogi, I hope you have a great holiday this week

Cloudy at present but expected to get sunnier and we should have temperatures slightly above average over the next few days.

If you've seen the most recent Tesco adverts you may have noticed the music played. I heard it many many years ago as the theme music for an old computer game and I was unable to find out what it was called.

I've now found out that it's called "Elizabethan Serenade" and is a piece of light music by Ronald Binge. It was written in 1951 and was originally called "Andante cantabile" but he renamed it in 1952 to mark the start of the new Elizabethan era. I don't know if Tesco have adopted this music because of the jubilee, but they may have.

Here's the music set to paintings:

Good morning everyone.

Yogi have a great holiday We will be thinking

of you, the weather forecast looks good and I am sure you will have a great time

EL that's one of my most favourite pieces of music, I used to have a music box that played that tune.  I love the images that go with it too, a celebration of feminity, something we are in great danger of losing today with the growth of feminism which seem to me the exact opposite.

The window cleaners have been already and so I am looking out at a nice morning through lovely clean windows, have a good one wherever you are today and whatever you're doing.

Morning

Son got home safely. It wasnt the fact that Hibs got hammered , it was the fact that they just didnt play well, nor had any kind of passion and the behaviour on the pitch of a couple of players, resulting in one of them being sent off, was just not what was expected of such an occasion. My son and other fans were ready to be defeated, as Hibs havent had a great season, getting to the finals was more luck really, but were hoping for a great game, hopefully even going to penalties to add to the excitement. He met a family who had travelled from Canada and really felt for them. A few of his friends are Hearts fans and he wished them well at the victory parade, albeit thru gritted teeth !

Hoping you have a nice holiday Yogi, and the sun shines for you and the family xx

I am going to do my windows today squiggle

Will look at the clips later, El, my plugin has apparently crashed.
