Good afternoon everyone.

Weather is dry and quite sunny. Not particularly warm though.

Squiggle, I am in the west and Skylark is in the east. Geography was one of my worst subjects at school and I am stiil rubbish at it.

I remember the Darnies having to restart their thread a couple of times because it became too big and everyone had trouble loading the pages. Sadly, we may have to consider doing the same. Some days, I find this thread is very slow to load up.

Harvey Houdini did his escapology act again this morning. Mr Yogi let the dogs out while he made a cup of coffee. When he went to call them back in, there was no sign of Harvey. We did get him back quite quickly as he was only a couple of gardens away, but the difficulty is, we have no idea where he is getting though. I may need to put him on an extending lead until we can figure out how he is doing it. Unfortunately, until then, we can't let them out to sunbathe or play in the garden.

Oh that naughty Houdini Harvey! I hope you find out where he's escaping from. It's amazing how they can squeeze through any little space isn't it

I've had a bit of a rubbish day;
First I found out my boss isn't paying me for jubilee Tuesday. I can have the day off but without pay, or I can work! I made it clear, in a polite way, how I feel about that- i'm a darn good worker and I have earned that day off. I'm taking it anyway.

Then, do you remember back in march when I was at my mums and I overheard my brother sneaking around on her landline..? I told her to get an itemised bill, find the mobile number(s) he called and see if the friend in question will tell her anything..
Sure enough he's in prison! He's been on remand all this time but the friend wouldn't reveal what his crime was. At least we know where he is and can write to him.
My mum was upset that she couldn't prove me wrong.. I didn't want to be right but I couldn't see any other rational explanation for his situation.

I did have fun in the pet shop though, miss bramble has 2 new toys to replace the ones she has successfully destroyed

Hope all of you are having a better day

I do agree, to look back and see the members, some of whom are not on this forum any more and of course dear brisket, it would such a shame to lose our history.  What a cheek your boss has, a bank holiday is a bank holiday and supposed to be a paid holiday.  Once Bramble has all her teeth through she will be destroying less things thankfully. Ben destroyed his first wicker basket

Evening all.

Summer, we can't understand how Harvey is getting out as there are no spaces where he can squeeze through - he's a stocky lab, not one of those slim labs.

He is obviously getting through somewhere but we are completely baffled.

I'm going to put him on an extending lead and hopefully he will show us where he is pushing though (but I'll be able to stop him from going right through). That's the plan anyway.

Re Bramble's destruction of toys, I agree with you that it is preferable to chewing the furniture. Keira and Harvey still play tugging games with Keira's toys and the odd time, one gets "killed".

I'm sorry you were correct about what had happened to your brother, but at least your family know where he is now.

Squiggle, it would be great if the problems with this thread could be sorted out without us having to start a new one. However, if it does happen, we could put this thread in our Bookmark/Favourites, then we can still read it whenever we like.

Yogi is it possible that Harvey could leap over the boundaries of the garden anywhere?

Thanks both for your comments about my brother, I agree so much, not knowing is far far worse

We have considered it but he's a wee bit podgy for leaping - although it is possible.

I wish I had one of those security cameras in the back garden, then I could catch him in the act.

It might come to that.

Did I ever tell you about the time I got into a panic because I thought I had accidentally switched on the webcam on my laptop? Son looked at me in disgust and said, "Mum, you only pressed the webcam sticker".

Did you just see that dog on BGT? I never watch this show but have tuned in just to see the dog

Pudsey is cute. I do feel like I've seen it all before though, with the dog acts on previous series.

I think I'm in a grumpy mood tonight.

Good morning everyone, a lovely bright morning again but it's not to last unfortunately.

I love the picture of Bramble, our Ben used to sleep under the radiator like that all the time with his paws going to and from the heat as they got too hot and then back on again.  No pain at all from the tooth thankfully.

I haven't watched BGT yet but I am disappointed that Jonathan and Charlotte didn't win, I like Pudsey but in my view the act is not as good as the previous girl and dog act, was it Kate & Gin?

squiggle

Good afternoon everyone. You were right about the weather in the west of Scotland, El. It's pouring down and very windy, too.

I guessed you had been Brambled last night, Summer.

I agree with you about last night's BGT result, Squiggle. I would have preferred Jonathan and Charlotte or The Loveable Rogues to win.

Ros, I'm sorry you are still having a tough time, hope things improve for you soon.

Good afternoon everyone. I've dropped my brother off at the railway station and am catching up with things. We had a pleasant time over the weekend, not that we did anything wildly exciting

We saw a film called The Last Mimzy last night. I had recorded it last Monday when it was shown on Film 4. The Radio Times gave it a good rating, but the Maltin films book said it was dreadful. It's a family film. Some try to compare it with ET. That would be a mistake I think. It's a good film, but it's no ET. I would compare it with something like the original Escape to Witch Mountain (1975), though not in story. Worth watching it sometime. I doubt if you would have heard of the two juvenile leads, their parents were played by Joely Richardson and Tim Hutton.

Cheltenham have won their first leg of the semi final against Torquay 2-0 at home which gives them a fair chance at the second leg on Thursday.

At church this morning, the grandaughter of my friend was duly baptised. We quite often have an Indian man bringing his children to church. Sometimes I've seen his wife there but he and the children are regulars. They've been coming for some time now but only the father has taken communion. With a bit of encouragement from the clergy, the older daughter and son decided to be confirmed. Their confirmation took place yesterday at the cathedral. They were there this morning for their first communion. At the beginning of the service, the vicar presented each of them with a bible and there was a gerous round of applause.

Good evening

It's been a cold, windy & sometimes wet day here today. I almost posted earlier, twice, and got caught up with unexpected plans! We've been to visit SIL & co, they lack mobile service where they live and although I can hop on to their wifi, I just didn't get the chance.
Miss bramble has met & played with Stream today I'll try to upload a pic tomorrow.
For now, I must go to bed!

Thanks for the film recommendation El, I'll make a note of that.
Great news about Cheltenham too

Hope you all kept warm & dry today and had a good weekend

Good morning everyone

Cloudy, showery, and windy here this morning.

Lovely picture of Bramble, Summer - I hope you are having a nice stroll

Squiggle, The Last Mimzy was based on a short story by Henry Kuttner and C L Moore writing as Lewis Padgett. The story was called "Mimsy were the Borogroves". That title comes from Jabberwocky, Alice through the Looking Glass, and there are passing references to Alice in the film. In the short story, there are 2 parallel stories, one based on the story which is the source of the film, the other involves Alice and Lewis Carroll and that is not in the film.

What a pretty little dog. Hope the training is going well. Are we likely to see you and Bramble on Britains Got Talent in a couple of years Sweet?

Wish me luck everyone - the builders have arrived and are demolishing my kitchen as we speak - it's a big job floor to ceiling change and a wall knocked out. I'm excited about a lovely new kitchen but dreading the next couple of weeks.

Soozy Woo

I wish you luck Soozy, great upheaval no doubt over the next couple of weeks, but the end result will be worth it.

I'm lucky with my kitchen in that the previous owner had a single story extension built which doubled the size of my kitchen. The previous kitchen would have been somewhat cramped - my mother was a bit jealous of my kitchen as the one in their house, even though it was a detached house, was on the small size.
