Oh and forgot to say, no filling in the tooth, she thinks the nerves are dead so there is no pain
You are doing really well Yogi. Although my garden was laid down mainly to shrubs by the previous owner, which my gardener just keeps trimmed back I am very lucky in that I get lots of wildflowers self-seeding. Whether that's because of the location or because of the large numbers of birds we get where the seeds are spread by their little messages I don't know.
I have no idea of what they are but in the bank opposite my side window where I am desperately trying to get climbing fuchsia and a rambling rose to take hold I am thrilled to see two very pretty flowers have taken hold and are steadily advancing and will hopefully colonise the bank in a couple of years. I remember I had a clump of honesty take root a while back and that might be one of them, they are both different shades of purple. A patch of bluebells popped up on the very edge of the lawn this year too. Oh and I love carnations and pinks, one of my favourite smells.
I love the purple honesty plant and bluebells are one of my favourite Spring plants.

That's good.
I'm back from my client and the rain stayed off
Squiggle, I also have a few bluebells in the back garden which must have been spread by birds.
Standish Wood which is a few miles south of Gloucester is known for its bluebells, so they probably came from there. Photo of Standish Wood:
Good afternoon everyone. Grey and miserable here again, although the forecast for the end of the week looks a little more promising for this area. Skylark, I hope you are well and enjoyed your time away. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday. Came back from my shopping trip to find No.1 son on the doorstep!! There had been an almighty row with his ex wife (won't go into details) and hubby and I had to calm things down and pick up the pieces, which took some time and left me completely drained.
I've enjoyed reading back in the thread. Yogi, you are lucky to have such a rare bird in your garden. You seem to be very busy with your planting. I'm hoping to get some of my plugs plants outside this weekend.
Squiggle, sorry to hear about your tooth problem but I'm sure you will be much better off without it. I really enjoy reading the descriptions of your garden. I like imagining being there with you.
Summer, loved the picture of Bramble. She is SO cute. Makes me feel like changing my mind and allowing hubby to get another dog now, rather than when he retires. As regards the steak, I prefer fillet or sirloin and like it cooked medium. I like it a bit pink but not blood red!!
El Loro, glad your meeting went well and you managed to avoid the rain. I've enjoyed looking at the items you've posted. It's always very interesting.
Love you all. Will try and get back (but you never know what's going to happen next)!!
Hi everyone
Got back late yesterday, we had a nice time. Granddaughter loved it and got plenty of attention as she is the latest addition to the clan. The fresh air exhausted her so we had nice quiet evenings! We were up Montrose way and she picked up the lingo no problem! Weather wasnt that good, but we made the most of it.
Havent read back as yet, so hope you are all well. Got some things to catch up on so will catch up later.
Hi Skylark, it's good to have you back. Glad you and your granddaughter had a good time.
Aww Joyron, no wonder you felt drained.
I've read that there is to be a Christmas Special of "Call The Midwife".
I loved the first series, so I am really looking forward to it.
And Silk starts again next week Yogi Glad your break went well Skylark Montrose is slightly to the east of where we used to go but I love that whole area. Joyron that sounds very draining, I hope it all works out well for your son.

Oh yes!
And I saw an advert for a new series of Lewis, too.
Checked the schedule and Silk starts on Tuesday 15th, with Lewis starting on Wedneday 16th.
Nice to hear from you Joyron and Skylark
At present although it has rained here and will start again for much of the rest of the day, looking at the rainfall maps it looks as if Gloucester will miss the heaviest rain- hefty rain is forecast at times to the south of us, to the east of us, to the west of us, and to the north of us but it seems to miss Gloucester, and the weather warnings have been revised to reflect that. The flood warnings for the Severn between Tewkesbury and Gloucester were lifted this morning, so that is some good news locally.
Good news about Call the Midwife, Silk and Lewis. This is the 6th series of Lewis and a 7th has already been commissioned by ITV. There is a question over its long term future as Colin Dexter has to give his approval for the script and he has raised questions as to this. So had Kevin Whately - he's 61 so he's at police retirement age. (But don't mention that to Brenda Blethyn (Vera) as she's 66, David Jason didn't retire as Frost until he was 70, and John Nettles as Barnaby until 67)

I'm looking forward to another series of Meet the Midwife and I absolutely love Lewis. Not seen a lot of Silk so cannot pass comment. If the Sky+ has room and timing to record it I'll see how I get on. SO pleased that Lewis will be back for another series beyond this one. Kevin Whately 61. I cannot believe that!! He is a spring chicken!!!
It's always possible that if the character of Lewis retires in the next couple of years they could start a new series called Hathaway. And there's also the series of Endeavour in the pipeline.

I like that idea, El. I love Laurence Fox and the character of Hathaway.
I liked the Endeavour programme, too.
I hope you don't mind Yogi but I have made a tentative suggestion in the Moderators thread that you might consider putting yourself forward? I don't know whether the idea would appeal but I think you would be a popular choice and would be very good at it.
Thank you Squiggle, I really appreciate the thought and I didn't mind you suggesting me. I did give it some thought when Ted first asked for volunteers, as I tend to be here quite often. I decided that there were others who are probably better suited to the mod job than I am.
I do thank you for your lovely comments though.
Still not caught up with all the goss, have jetlag
I wish I could have seen that.
Signing out now, goodnight all. Summer.
Ros, I hope your BiL is improving and that you aren't having to work too hard.
Goodnight Yogi, sorry not being rude to all, just havent caught up yet
Skylark, take your time I know how hard it is to catch up!
El, also- I've just had the bluebell pic load, it's beautiful! I love bluebell season
Decided to delete my last post, with respect to the families involved.
If nobody read it then its all ok, if you did i hope you understand why i did x
Goodnight all
Good morning everyone
Still cloudy here but the rain has moved north- I hope it doesn't cause problems for those of you in Scotland as there is talk of snow at higher levels. I've just checked on the Nailsworth weather site (the closest to me) and with the last batch of rain, in my area the cumulative amount of rain so far this month and it's only the 10th is 52.6 mm. The average rainfall for this part of the country for the whole of May is just over 52mm.
Summer, it's not looking good for Pan Am as there is talk of it having been cancelled but nothing yet confirmed. Even if ABC cancel, it could always be picked up by another studio.
The rain has stopped for the moment thank goodness, I hope it stays dry for a while now. I do hope it's not moving up to where you live Yogi, Skylark and Summer let alone snowing it's about time we had a little sun.
Skylark I quite understand why you deleted your post
Good morning everyone. It's raining up here.
Skylark, I didn't realise you were still around last night, sorry I didn't say goodnight to you.
Out and about this morning and I have a funeral to go to this afternoon, will be back later.
You'll remember that my surviving aunt is a nun. The convent she belongs to has been dwingling in numbers over the years. I got a brief newsletter this morning that the only other nun in the convent is now so old and infirm that she has had to go into a home which means that my aunt is now the only active nun in that convent. In recent years the nuns have been living in a building connected with Southwell Minster, the cathedral in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. My aunt who would be in her late 70s will stay there until suitable accomodation is found for her.
I do hope the funeral goes well Yogi, it can be a poignant time.
It sounds like a time of great change for your aunt EL, I know that her faith will see her through and it will be nice when she is happily settled. I do hope that a place will be found for her where she feels among friends. Would it be a religious order of some kind do you know?
Morning Summer I'm having such a lovely morning I've put out the rubbish, washed the sheets, brought in the recycling box (after brushing off all the gross slugs who try to get into the utility room to run amok) and I think I will play a computer game to cheer myself up now Hope you are having a much more exciting morning than me
Yogi, I hope all goes well at the funeral.
I'm sure my aunt will be cared for wherever she goes. Of course, as a nun, she has zero assets, but the people at Southwell Minster will find her a home. Church dioceses should be used to helping clergy widows, and I would think they have the resources to be able to help her. She will remain a nun until she dies wherever she goes and that does mean that there is no possibility that she might come and live with me. There are still a few active Anglican convents in the UK so that would be an option though unlikely to be close to where she is now.
Squiggle, I hope you enjoy your computer game. I know you like the hidden object type. If you've never played it, I recommend Nightmare Adventures - The Witch's Prison. Although it's advertised as a hidden object game, in fact there is only 1 hidden object little episode in it. It consist of a large number of puzzles, each of which is different so no duplication. It's closer to being an adventure game and for the price is exceptionally good value for money. I liked it so much that I bought a copy for part of my Christmas present to my brother, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ooh thanks for the tip EL, I don't know how I've missed this one. It is available from my usual source (Big Fish) and I am downloading the demo now. Hidden object games have become a little stale for most of us gameplayers I think and they are all moving toward more of the adventure sort now.
I am sure your aunt will find a community of like-minded souls to spend her final days with before going to be with her Lord.
El, I hope that somewhere suitable and nice is found for your aunt.
The funeral went well and was very well attended. I'm sure the family were comforted to know he was well thought of.
I'm glad the funeral went well, Yogi and it will have been a comfort for the family that it was well attended.
I get rung from time to time by students looking to see if I offer work experience. As I work from home and have no employees, I explain that to them and wish them luck. I've just had a young man ring me looking for such a placement. I think he's going to have a hard time finding anyone to take him on though as the tone of his voice was that of someone who was unenthusiastic.
