I had my car back at the weekend but hubby had to take it to work this morning. His car is supposed to be returned today but I am not certain it will. The repair centre called me this morning to say, "We are doing our best to get the car returned to you later today". They are supposed to call back at 4pm to let me know what's happening. Let's just say I wouldn't bet my last fiver on the car being returned today.
I did get out and about at the weekend, so at least I don't have cabin fever any more. I can't wait to get my car back for good, though.
As soon as Bramble has her vaccinations, you will be the nice lady out walking her dog.
I can see we are in for some lovely tales when Bramble is allowed to go on walkies - look forward to it. Our Ben used to love to jump into rivers and come out dripping and covered in mud - we weren't quite so keen.
The stretch of the river Severn which runs past Deerhurst has now been put on Flood Warning which is when flooding is expected, but not at the highest alert. I know this part of the river has a tendency to flood so is not particularly suprising. The reason why I've mentioned this is that Deerhurst is one of the parishes where our ex-curate was in charge before he moved to Salisbury cathedral.
Yogi, showerless and carless, Oh, poor you. Could be worse, they may decide to install surface to air missiles in your back garden to prevent great escapes. If not, maybe at squiggle's garden as a defence against the moles. (My brother does not live close to any of the 6 sites in London which are under consideration).

El, you have cheered me up.
Hubby's car has been returned. However, instead of returning it to his home address, they have returned it to his place of work (no idea why). As he can't drive two cars home, he will drive mine home and leave his at work tonight, and then he'll get a lift into work in the morning and will drive his car home tomorrow night.
I was hoping the anticipated floods were not going to happen. I hope there isn't too much damage caused. I read earlier about a man and his dog who drowned when their car became submerged as they attempted to cross a ford.
Edit: Shower can't be repaired so we need to get a new one.
Bramble is doing so well, Summer, she's a great wee pup.
Oh the sea looks beautiful as the twilight deepens. The sea is a lovely blue and the sky is pink and slowly going from pale pink to a deep deep rose, it looks lovely.

When I see beautiful sunsets or scenes such as you have described, I really wish I could paint.
Signing out now, see you all tomorrow.
Hugs for the night owls.
Morning everyone
Another grey day here, just getting the wee one ready for nursery.
Happy May 1st
xx
Yes, I am.
We are hoping to get the shower replaced in the next day or two.
Lovely flowers, thanks Skylark.
Good morning everyone. Still chilly but bright, with some blue sky.
Good morning everyone
Lovely flowers, Skylark
Yogi, I'm glad you've got your car back to use.
As far as the rain is concerned, there was some very heavy rain locally early morning which has resulted in a bit of flash flooding near Tescos in the Bristol Road in Gloucester. There is quite a lot of surface water on the roads. Tewkesbury has some flooding but as I listen to the local news, although you may well see pictures from Tewkesbury on the news today, they are saying this is normal flooding though the news may portray this as a disaster. Tewkesbury is where the Avon flows into the Severn and what you would be seeing are the flood meadows which act to stop the main part of Tewkesbury being flooded.
I hope that none of you have been affected by the rain, particularly squiggle and Joyron.
Good morning everyone, thick grey clouds this morning but due to brighten up after this. Thank you for the beautiful bouquet of flowers Skylark, gorgeous
EL I hope the flooding doesn't cause you any inconvenience as you go about today.
Hope you get the new shower soon Yogi and glad to hear you are back on the road again
Squiggle, I love it.
Hope the rain doesn't cause problems for anyone.
Thanks to Fluffs just found a brilliant site, probably you've all heard of it but me but I just tried it and I love it http://www.lumosity.com/ give it a whirl.
Squiggle, I'm not expecting to need to go out today so shouldn't have a problem. Apart from surface water on some of the roads, and there will be some rural roads which will have been closed, there doesn't seem to be a major flooding risk. It's very overcast at present, but I don't think it's raining.
There's a Mitsubishi 2800 parked in the road outside my house at present. The owner lives down the road and he told me his car had broken down after he left his house. A breakdown vehicle is in the process of towing it away. The owner isn't a client of mine but is in business. He restores old British red telephone kiosks. Here's him talking about what he does. The clip's 3 years old so doesn't mention that since then he's been restoring boxes for the Olympics site.

You posting that link today is a strange coincidence as on the news this morning on Radio 4 they talked about a new online survey where you can participate online as to how people can compete when put under pressure. Your performance is analysed by Michael Johnson and you repeat the exercise to see if you improve following his advice.
https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/labuk/experiments/compete/
Although Michael Johnson is best known for athletics, this is intended for anyone who needs to deal with high pressure situations. By the way in case anyone remembers talk of performance enhancement drugs, this was by others in the American relay ream, not Johnson. He returned his gold medal on a voluntary basis as he felt that as a team, they had won unfairly.
I did enjoy that clip EL thank you for posting what a lovely man and I love the way he wants to make the boxes pretty again, that's how I feel too.
I shall try your link now.
I see on the Nailsworth weather site (Nailsworth is the closest weather station to Gloucester I can see data on) that so far this month we've had about 25% of the average rainfall of the month. And that's just half way through the first day. (Wry smile smiley if one existed) Looking at the longer term forecast, it looks as if May will be generally unsettled but rainfall closer to average for May rather than the wetness that was April.
Good morning everyone. It's grey and miserable here but at least it has stopped raining. Ir rained so hard overnight and with the wind making the rain lash against the windows it woke me. Fortunately we seem to have survived without the brook overflowing.
Hubby left for work very early this morning but rang me twice before 8.00 am to check whether the water had come into the garden. I was pleased to be able to report that it had not.
Just got back from a dental check up. Pleased to report nothing to be done this time.
Joyron, I'm really pleased that your brook hasn't flooded into your garden. That must have come as a huge relief to you and you should get a good sleep tonight. Glad your dental check up went OK
Summer, I like your ducks/maypole picture
Hi all x
Dont know how many times i have logged in today but cant post, my internet is sooooo slow. One would think i lived out in the sticks, not in Scotland,s capital city I wish i could go back to Sky, better the enemy and all that............
Anyway nice to read you are all well
For Joyron
And glad you had no flooding xx
Skylark, I know you've just moved over to BT for broadband, but once the minimum period is over, you should think about switching to Virgin cable as that dispenses with the BT external wiring and you should have a much better speed as a result. That's my experience. I like your ginormous smiling smiley
Didnt think that was going to be as big as that El, for Joyrons dentist visit!
Unfortunately i cant get Virgin here as such. I can get broadband and phone but not the TV package included. Where i live is a very old street, which was used as whisky bonds from the docks. New buildings have been erected, and converted but no cable work has been done, as yet.....
A tad annoying to say the least
Away to pick up GD xx
That's unfortunate, Skylark. Maybe one day Virgin will do cabling in your area. Although I've only used Virgin in recent times, the cables have been in my area for many years. Originally Telewest did the cabling back in the 90s when broadband was a rarity. They had some offices at Staverton which is half way between Gloucester and Cheltenham. The local airport is at Staverton and there are businesses in that area doing imports/exports and Dowty Messier, one of the major engineering businesses locally is there so there would have been a demand for broadband for business use. Staverton's only about 4 miles away from where I live, so my road was one of the beneficiaries. Virgin took over Telewest some years ago.
Skylark, sorry you've been having trouble with your broadband. It's a shame you can't get Virgin in your area.
Summer, were you finding that the threads with a high number of pages (eg Darnies and Buddies) were the pages which took ages to load? That's what has been happening to me in the last few days.
Joyron, glad all went well at the dentist and your garden didn't flood.
I liked the maypole pic and the video with the phone box man.
New shower is due to be fitted tomorrow morning.
Glad your check up went well Joyron and that the garden didn't flood. I would think that the flooding risk is lessened over the next few days hopefully.
I can't say I'd noticed any threads loading slower than others. Can you check your broadband speed Skylark?
Will it be the same sort of shower Yogi? I know I can't have a super duper power shower without a whole load of expense because the lady who originally had it installed just opted for an electric shower and the pressure does drop if people further down the lane are using the water which is a bit of a faff, especially when you are trying to rinse your hair and the water becomes too hot.
I posted this on the May Day thread and I'll post it here as well in case you don't see it there and I think you will like it.

I'm not sure what kind of shower it will be, Squiggle, I've left it to hubby to organise it.
Love the maypole squirrels, El.
