I loved that clip EL, in fact I loved all those Hollywood movies - didn't Gene Kelly look handsome in that clip?  And interestingly Debbie Reynolds was wearing galoshes in the intro, a fashion that never caught on over here.

I've been out to the supermarket already as I have a delivery coming later, it's cloudy but dry at the moment here.

Good morning I was about to post when 3 customers walked through the door at the same time! All done now so here I am It's wet here, very very wet! El that's quite a day you had yesterday! Thank goodness you had spare keys in place it makes me feel sick if I leave my keys anywhere, we rely on them so much don't we. My car only has the one key, the previous owner lost the spare, so I'm always very very aware of exactly where my keys are!

I love Calamity Jane, glad you enjoyed the show, Summer.

Skylark, what a shame that Nana is thinking of abandoning the holiday due to the weather. I know from experience, it isn't much fun being stuck in a caravan when the weather is awful.

I think most people agree that Singin' in the Rain is the best musical ever made and is as close to being a perfect film as have ever been made. It scores on the songs, the dancing and the comedy. And what makes it so exceptional is that it also works as a drama which most musicals can't match up to. The only criticism I have is that the Broadway Rhythm Ballet sequence with Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, good as in itself is, belongs to a different film.

Calamity Jane is a good film as well and thoroughly enjoyable but Singin' in the Rain is unique. I know there have been theatre productions of it, but just imagine the uproar if someone decided to film a remake.

Although yesterday's weather here was very wet, we didn't get the thunderstorms forecast, and it hasn't been as bad as some parts of the country. Today hasn't been bad so far. I think the next risk day is Sunday when more heavy rain sweeps across the south, though I think the worst of it may be a bit south of where I live.

Cute dog EL but I wouldn't have said he was a Yorkie   Looks more like a Border Terrier.

Difficult one, I personally wouldn't have said that Singing in the Rain was the best musical.  Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers would be ahead in the race, in my book anyway.  It will be interesting to see which way others vote.

Yes not much fun, especially with a 4 year old, getting slightly bored. Plus whats the betting, they will be back and the sun will shine !

Talking of musicals i see Oliver is advertised to be here soon, i may go...will have to look who is in it first. If Van Outen is in it, i shall pass, she irritates me !

I think you can relax, I'm not aware Van Outen is in it - she's not playing the part of Nancy so if she is in it, it would have to one of the smaller roles.

Result!

The Steamie is showing in Glasgow (next month, I think), so I might see if I can persuade one of the clan to go with me.

Off to pick up youngest son, back in 10 minutes.

Good morning everyone

Looking at the weather forecast locally I think I may well be joining you, Yogi and Skylark, in having webbed feet. It's been raining here and likely to be wet for quite a lot of the day, less rain tomorrow, but Sunday looks as if it very very wet all day, the wettest day this year so far. There is a weather station at Nailsworth which is about 14 miles away and the monthly rainfall total is already just over tha average for April so by the end of April it will be well above average. Still won't get rid of the drought as 3 months of rain are required before that is sorted.
