I decided I wanted to change my style - nothing drastic, just a wee change. But because my existing style is pretty short, I am going to have a couple of months while the style is "in transition", if you know what I mean? My hairdresser said, "remember you are going to have to work with it for a while". I think she means it will drive me nuts.

BTW, you are doing a great job with Bramble, everything will work out fine.

Good morning everyone

Another day of sunshine and showers.

Ros, that reminds me of when I was at school and in the school cross country team. There was a race taking place at the weekend and a couple of days before we had the usual sports afternoon at school. That afternoon, there was heavy rain so the sportsmaster cancelled the usual rugby or cross country which would have taken place and everyone went for a swim in the school's swimming pool. That was apart from those taking place in the competition - we went for the usual run and of course got soaked. On the day of the competition I was the only one to turn up - everyone else had gone down with colds.

Good morning everyone. Weather is quite bright atm, although showers are forecast.

El, your post reminded me of cross country runs when I was at school *shudders*

Did you win the race?

I think I'll be doing some gardening this weekend, weather permitting, as the weeds are rearing their ugly heads again.

Ros, I hope your weekend is a relaxing one.

Yogi19

Yogi, the cross country races were between many of the Gloucestershire schools and I never got close to winning any of them. There were two races, one for the younger senior school boys and one for the older ones. I was in the team during my second and third years but not during the fourth and fifth years due to O levels. I left schoold at the end of the fifth year and never went into the sixth. If I had, the chances are that I would have been selected for the senior team as I had got faster as I grew up. In the fifth year at the ordinary weekly cross country run at school, of the boys in my class who did cross country rather than rugby I was probably the fastest.

My brother also did cross country - he was two years below me. I don't think he was ever selected but if he wanted to he could have become a decent long distance runner, but he didn't have the ambition.

I'm not surprised, I stuck with it longer than most, out of sheer habit, but it wasn't a patch on the original.  So much so that I don't think the people responsible can have ever watched the original, which seems silly when you think that the actress who played Rose, is it Jean Marsh? seemed to be involved in the revival.

Yes, Jean Marsh was not only in the original series but she and Eileen Atkins co-wrote the original idea, and both appeared in the first series of the revival.

At least with the BBC dropping Upstairs Downstairs means that it will leave Heidi Thomas free to concentrate on her writing more episodes of Call the Midwife.

Cheltenham lost against Oxford 0-1. That was the hardest of their last 3 matches of the season so they still have a realistic chance of getting into the play offs. Cheltenham was without their captain because of a minor injury. Also the goalkeeper who had been lent to them by Birmingham was recalled by Birmingham a few days ago. That goalkeeper is Jack Butland who is the England Under 21 goalkeeper and must be a strong contender for the England goalkeeper in a few years.

I loved Call The Midwife, so that ^^^^ is good news.

Shame about the Cheltenham score.

*night owls* Yogi, sorry I vanished last night puppy duties called and so did a swift sleep I like that hairstyle even if you can't find an exact photo, your stylist should be able to ask you the right questions to figure out exactly what you're aiming for Go blonde, I dare you El, shame about Cheltenham, they're having a tough time lately by the sounds of it Squiggle I hope you're having a lovely weekend is the book any good? for skylark, hope you're alright for joyron, hope you're having a lovely weekend

You're up late! How was your day? Bramble's learned to sit and walked up & down with her lead on for the first time, met the neighbour (who wanted to take her home), and spent lots of time snoozing after play sessions I learned how to get hold of her and open her mouth- a previous issue I had trouble with. She likes to try to eat things from the garden- stones in particular

She is doing well, Summer.

The eating stones thing is something Keira used to do. I did my best to discourage her and eventually she stopped it.

Well done on all the training you are doing.

Goodnight, sleep well.

Sorry there isn't more of an improvement, it must be a very stressful time for everyone.

for the strawberry plants. I have some from last year which appear to have survived the winter.

Good morning everyone

Guess what - another day of sunshine and showers. Looks as if there will be lots more rain to come over the next few weeks.

I'm supposed to be doing the weekly church website update but I haven't received the weekly email with all the details which is a bit odd. I may find out what has happened when I go to church but it looks as if I may have to invent some details of the coming week for the website.

It's the church AGM this evening, I can hardly contain my excitement

El Loro

Good morning everyone, showery here today.

Now don't get too inventive if you have to play it by ear for the week ahead for the website EL

Sorry to hear progress is a little slow for your BIL Ros, I hope that his recovery although slow will be steady.

Summer Bramble sounds like she is doing well, with the stones it's the same story as toddlers - everything goes in their mouth, hopefully as Yogi says she will just grow out of it.  The book is good and I am really enjoying it, I will update you when I have finished it and posted it off, thank you

squiggle

Good morning everyone. Weather is overcast atm.

El, your post made me laugh. Sounds like your creative writing skills may be called upon to update the website.

You are right about everything going in pups' mouths, Squiggle. They really are just like babies in many ways.

Got some hanging baskets at B&Q yesterday, at the bargain price of ÂĢ1 each, so have some planting to do today.

Edit: Eldest son has phoned to ask us if we'd like to go out with them to a nearby shopping centre - or as Mr Yogi said "he wants us to go out to play with him". Will be back later.

I've now updated our church website. It turned out that the person who emails us with the weekly details thought he had but when he looked they were still sitting in his Outbox saying"Hi, we're still here, you forgot to send us and we are feeling unwanted - El Loro is at home drumming his fingers on his table waiting for us. Please send us as otherwise he's threatened to invent the coming week's services and you know what he's like."

Summer, I hope Bramble has woken up by now else you'll burst.

I think it would be great if you invented stuff - I wonder how many people would realise it was a work of fiction?

Summer, I hope you aren't still waiting on Bramble waking up.

Don't tempt me

I'm off now to go back to church for the AGM. The only thing I can say good about the AGM is that it's followed by a party. But that's a buffet style of things like sandwiches, crisps etc rather than one with funny hats and party poppers and jelly and icecream so not wildly exciting.

Enjoy the party, El, even if there isn't any jelly and ice cream.
