Summer, the Jehovah's Witnesses are intensely Christian and I do respect them but they are too fundamental for me. By that I mean they take the Bible literally as if God had written it directly and that under no circumstance can any Jehovah's Witness question the teachings of the elders - their leaders.

EL JW's are, in my view, not Christian in that they do not believe that Jesus is God.  They have their own version of the bible and specifically it changes John1 v 1 so that it does not read "In the beginning was The Word and The Word was with God and The Word was God"

Fortunately my hubby can "manage" the ex DIL pretty well so we have no problems with seeing the grandchildren.  We had to become her guarantors in respect of the house she rents so we have fairly good control over her (thankfully).  However she likes to make life hard for No.1 son, especially since he has a new partner and is getting on with his life.

I was looking forward to some leisurely time at the holiday home over Easter but at least we can go whenever we want, and when the weather co-operates.  I would be feeling pretty sick if we had booked a few days away at a hotel by the sea, based on the weather we have had recently, only to find it's turning out as it has!!

I don't eat a lot of chocolate at all and never buy chocolate eggs, simply because there is a lot more chocolate in a bar than an egg!!

Suspicious of whom? The customers who interrupt your forum time?

it's a conspiracy I tell you.

Edited to say I've just seen Yogis post above ^^^^^^^^^^ - I've duplicated

Sooz I think a few of us were posting around the same time, hence the confusion lol Love it Having said that, I am suspicious of some customers too! I'm having a rather comical day; several people have stank- fags, sweat and stale food. Then I got fully snow pelted, the wind broke my large umbrella and I had to dry my trousers off with a hairdryer. Aaaaand I just found some head lice Not in my own hair btw Joyron, your hubby must have a way with people if he's good with the ex DIL, thank goodness for people like him You just reminded me of my mum regarding chocolate, she'd sooner have a bar than an egg for the same reasons I do like a bar of cadburys whole nut

There's loads going round at the moment yogi! I have 4 combs, mainly because I'm a dropper, but I use one to do a check for live first. On this occasion I spotted the knits before I even asked them how they would like it cut. I then put the comb into sterilisation and it's no problem because I have 3 more.. The rule is, if you see lice you HAVE to tell them. (in this case, the parent) you then cannot put your scissors in their hair, I advise them to pop down to the chemist and inform them that I'll be more than happy to cut it after its been treated and the eggs removed However, if I was half way through the cut and spotted lice, I would then carry on because my tools are already infected. I'd sterilise them afterwards, as well as wash down the chair and remove the gown (I wash that at home on a high temperature after). Sterilisation takes 20 full minutes though, and I only have 1 pair of decent scissors (because they're ÂĢ200) (I keep meaning to get my old ones sharpened) which is a right pain if I have other clients waiting! That's why I always check first I'm very used to it now, it doesn't bother me at all, I'm even comfortable with telling them now.

Now that's just stupid and inconsiderate. I wonder how many people they infected before they finally got treatment.

Pops in scratching head

Been out , glad to be back in one piece, very blowy !
I have had many a conversation with Jehovah,s in my time, they hold steadfast in their views, which is fine, but can be slightly frustrating when they wont listen to other interpretations. We used to have them come round the doors but not so much nowadays.

Anyway got some fresh veg to make a nice pot of soup.

tata for now x

Interesting commentary on John 1:

Very wise EL, you will know of course that Jesus is The Word and that He made everything, God The Father created everything through Him.

sweet dreams all, hope you all keep warm & snug tonight! We've got an inch of snow, it settled all of a sudden! I wonder if I'll be rolling a snowman tomorrow..? I'm going to bed with the blues.. I found out that Stream has been in season and failed to line again They kept it all hush hush so that we wouldn't have the anguish of waiting and wondering, if it had worked then our puppy would have been in the whelping box right now. I'm disappointed, and the prospect of waiting another 6 months isn't great, but worse things happen and I'll get over it Everything happens for a reason right?!

morning It snowed through the night here, it's not cold enough to stay frozen though, it's starting to look slushy now. I'm glad I have no fixed plans to go out today Thanks El I'm a bit sulky this morning but i'm ok I've got a couple of projects to focus on and some spring cleaning to get done I hope the snow doesn't reach that far down, it's very windy out so take care if that gets to you.

Just heard on the Test Match special on the radio at the tea time interval an interview with Kevin Whateley. He used to play cricket for charity and there was an episode of Morse where Lewis went undercover and played cricket for a team. Colin Dexter wrote the story around the fact that he could really play cricket. Anyway he confirmed that there is another series of Lewis already filmed and will be shown in May. He also said that ITV had decided to make more Young Morse though didn't say anything more about that.

Good morning everyone, I thought it was cold yesterday but it's icy today.  Such a shame about Stream summer, it's hard to have to wait another 6 months.

Hope the meeting goes well Skylark and that you find just the right cake.

I wonder whether the weather will cheer up for Easter, sad to have to go back to winter jumpers again just when I was getting ready to wear lighter clothes for Spring.  I think I will join you in a sulk Summer

Good morning everyone. Sun is shining but it's freezing cold.

Aww, that's a shame about Stream, Summer and, as you say, sometimes these things happen for a reason. One day you'll be the owner of a very lucky puppy.

Good luck with your meeting, Skylark. Hope you find a nice cake for your granddaughter.

Sorry I missed you last night Ros, I had an early start today and decided to try to get an early night.

Glad you aren't due to get the snow, El. All of ours has gone now.

Good morning Squiggle, I must have been typing as you were posting.

^^^^ I had packed away my big fluffy dressing gowns last week - I think I'll need to get them out again.

I see on the BBC website that a Florida grandmother has had to stop driving her car fue to failing eyesight. She had been driving the same car ever since 1996 and had done 576,000 miles in it.

But that's nothing compared to Irv Gordon from New York who holds the world record.

A recent video of him and his car:

2.9 million miles - he's hoping to get to a nice round 3 million.

Hi all, meeting was a waste of time, just going over things again, as if we dont know

Went to a lovely home bakers near me, the lady there takes great pride in her cakes. Granddaughter says she would like a cake with a cat and a helicopter  , so have left that with her
The sun is trying to come out here, so thats good as i have to go to nursery soon, then to nana,s for tea. x

FM

Skylark, intriguing - a cat and helicopter cake - could be a world first as I did a Google image search and came up with nothing Sorry that your meeting was a waste of your time.

I have successfully refilled my car with unleaded. I hadn't attempted to while the panic buying was on as I had enough but with only 50 miles left in the tank I didn't want to leave it any longer. I went to the main local BP filling station when I went shopping on Monday and they had no fuel at all. I went again today and they were still out of unleaded but had diesel which wasn't much help. So I went to a supermarket a couple of miles away and success. I hope all those of you who have been needing fuel have been able to get some.

I missed this post earlier. Great news for me, El, as I love Lewis and I enjoyed the series about young Morse - I think it was entitled, "Endeavour" (which was the Christian name of Morse).
