Did you watch anything good? You know those home sweet home cushions, that are appliqué/patchwork/embroidery style with different coloured and patterned pieces of fabric..? I'm going to make one of those but instead of a regular house, it's the country house hotel where they're getting married! I'm also incorporating some of the grooms tweed from his estate, I think they'll like it

Mr Yogi was watching a lot of football today, so I did some reading and spent some time listening to music vids on youtube.

I've started reading one of the books my son put onto the e-reader for me, it's called The Faithless by Martina Cole. Very gritty but good, so far.

 

Got to go pick up son from the station. He's been away with GF for the weekend.

Skylark, Upstairs Downstairs viewing numbers fell further to 5.51m for the episode on 11 March. The figures for the 18th and yesterday's are not yet available. One has to be careful not to read too much into these figures as there will be people who have either recorded this or Titanic to watch later or watch online.

Oh what a beautiful morning here in NE Lincs. I have been down to my daughters house to show some potential buyers round and I walked through some of the prettiest parts of the village. The birds were singing, the flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. it's one of those days when it feels so good to be alive. Lovely day - long may it continue.

Morning Sooz, isn't it lovely?  Such a beautiful morning, I wonder whether we will be lucky enough for the weather to continue through Easter.  Down here in Devon there's not a cloud in the sky and the birds are singing and chasing each other about, baby birds soon I reckon.

 

Summer that cushion sounds wonderful, what a great idea.  Can you embroider?  I have always fancied learning but never got around to it.

Morning Soozy. Enjoying a similar morning up here - sun is shining, birds are chirping and the dog is sunbathing. My eldest son is coming over to set up a raised bed for my vegetables this afternoon, and he couldn't have chosen a better day to do it.

Hi Sqiggle - I really hope it's lovely at Easter too. Our village is twinned with a village in France - one Easter they visit us the next we visit them. It is our turn to host this year and we have various things planned (we always have to have alternatives as the weather is unpredictable). A trip to York is on the agenda - it would be lovely if the sun was shining. I know it'll be good whatever but a bit of sun is always a bonus!

What about the frogs, have they finished their "noisy time" yet?

I can't hear them Yogi, I filled up the pond this morning, I will have to check for tadpoles.  Have you ever seen a baby frog?  They are the cutest little things.

We sometimes get really tiny frogs in the garden - no idea where they come from as we don't have a pond nearby.

Ok I'm back and I'm on my break so I don't have to rush this time.. To answer the earlier question, yes I can embroider, I love it I don't know every stitch though, but there's always you tube. I recently watched a tutorial on how to put a piping edge on cushions, it was brilliant Wow it's really quite hot out here, I wasn't expecting it to be this warm

I love hand embroidered things.  A friend of mine has tablecloths which are 70 years old, as good as new, with beautiful embroidery and wonderful hems with little holes all around the edge, I think made by drawing the threads aside, it looks so pretty.

She is in the very fortunate position of having part exchanged on a new build. The property developers have already bought her house (at a surprisingly good price) but it is on the understanding she shows potential buyers round.

Is your daughter's new house still near to you, Soozy or is she moving out of the area?

Squiggle, manga is a very loose term given to Japanese cartoons in books and magazines. Similar images are also used in Japanese video games and in Japanese animation (referred to as anime). Some manga is innocent enough, some can be violent far beyond anything you could accept. The females in manga tend to look very young and have large round eyes just as in Soozy's avatar.

Good news for the Easter holidays. Dry and sunny weather is set to continue until the end of April, as high pressure begins to build over the UK from the south-east. Maximum daytime temperatures of up to 24°C are expected across southern counties of England, the south-west and Wales.

During the coming week a hot and dry south-easterly flow will develop, with perhaps some more humid weather in the south associated with small-scale lows. These isolated systems, combined with a southerly flow, may bring some thunderstorms from France and the Netherlands via the English channel. The showers may lead to flash-flooding in some spots, so it may be worth keeping a close eye on the weather warnings during the last two weeks of April. However, the bigger picture for much of the United Kingdom and Ireland, is for hot and dry weather that is expected to prevail. As such, wall-to-wall sunshine is more likely than catching a rogue shower!

It's about a ten minute drive - I don't drive incidentally. she more or less passes by on the way home from work though. I expect we'll still see a lot of her but I'm a bit sad. Silly really - it could be so much worse but I love having her walking distance and in the village. I think this move will be really good for her - she's had a tough couple of years.

I'm no expert on Manga either - I just happened to come across this character quite a few years ago. She is called Tsukino Usagi from the Sailor Moon cartoon. Apparently she is a 'fighter for justice'. I just like her as an avatar - I've become quite attached!

I hope so Soozy, I know from your posts that she's not had the easiest time.

I'm sure you'll still see her often, but I understand how you'd prefer to keep her within walking distance, when you don't drive.

Mainly cloudy this weekend with some light rain, particularly in the south and west on Saturday. Sunny spells are most likely in the northeast of the UK, amongst scattered showers. Temperatures are likely to return nearer to average across all areas, with some quite chilly nights bringing the possibility of patchy frost and fog. Some sunshine will return to southern areas into the start of next week, with daytime temperatures perhaps a little above normal here, although the risk of overnight frost continuing. The north and particularly northwest, is likely to be windier, with rain or showers at times and it may be cold enough for some hill snow in the far north. Towards the end of next week, unsettled conditions are likely to spread south to all areas.
