I think it was Ros who first mentioned the Val McDermid thrillers to me. I've read loads now and passed some onto son's GF.

Son has just phoned - he stayed late, so I'm picking him up at 10.30pm. He did offer to walk up the road but I said I'd go fetch him.

Going to sign out now, enjoy the rest of your evening, Summer.

If you catch up with Ros tonight, tell her I sent her a big hug.

Good morning everyone. Weather is a bit brighter today, there's a bit of blue sky out there.

I liked the video but I didn't see the meteor, El - I was nattering on the forum at 9.40.

Not sure if we will be doing anything today, as Mr Yogi seems to be surgically attached to his new ipad and is playing with his new toy. He says he is doing a test, to see how long he can stay on it before the battery runs out.

How noble of your hubby to conduct this vital experiment Yogi

He'll be grateful for your appreciation of his efforts.

He keeps giving me an update every ten minutes or so, "There's still loads of battery time left!" He's all excited, bless his cotton socks.

Skylark, that sounds like a good bargain.

I had to replace my electric shaver a couple of weeks ago as mine had broken. I got a Braun 340s which has a retail price of ÂĢ109-99. You can get it cheaper though - the cheapest on Amazon is ÂĢ64-46.

I didn't get it from Amazon though, I just bought it from Boots in Cheltenham.

I paid ÂĢ49-49 for it -

El Loro

That was a good bargain El

Not much left in Tesco , got a hot water bottle with a fluffy cover for ÂĢ1, always handy and a long cardigan for ÂĢ4, and a couple of things for grandaughter. Just got an ad for Asda, dont think they like me talking about Tesco!

House nice and quiet, so going to sit down with my book for a bit xx

FM

Did you know that the BBC has a section where you can get an idea of the average cost of a house in your local authority? It shows the price for detached, semi-detached, terraced and flat.

Link to this section

A semi detached house in Gloucester is ÂĢ150,922, but in Cheltenham ÂĢ234,673. In the Cotswolds it's ÂĢ274,130 but of course that covers places like Cirencester and the scenic villages.

I've always known that Cheltenham is more expensive than Gloucester because spa towns tend to be more expensive but it's quite interesting to see that it's 55% more expensive.

El Loro

Summer, the site doesn't go into as much detail as Lavenham, the closest it gets to is Babergh and gives the price of say a semi detached at an average of ÂĢ188,543.

I did find this house for sale in Lavenham:

It's a 5 bedroom detached house on sale for a mere ÂĢ799,995

But there is also this 3 bedroom semi in Lavenham for ÂĢ199,995:

El Loro

I wonder though whether the Lavenham name is stretched a bit for the estate agents.  What I mean is that we used to live within a few miles of Chigwell in Essex where the house prices were quite high and of course then many people wanted their house to be in the Chigwell area so many properties which I would not really have said were in Chigwell proper came under that heading in their details.  The former property that you show EL is typical of the style of the area whereas the other is much more standardised new build (well relatively new).

Wow that's a big posh house el, I can't place it though so it must be tucked away in a private lane or such. Most of Lavenham are Tudor properties, the cheaper one will be a former council house, there's a small cul-de-sac with some in. Squiggle I didn't realise you'd lived in Essex Chigwell too reminds me of birds of a feather, I loved that show

Good morning everyone, quite a nice bright morning.  Yes Summer I am an Essex Girl! (not a white stiletto to be seen ) Yes Birds of a Feather was set in Chigwell, great show.

Not to be confused with this lovely place (my daughter and I when she was tiny used to sing this together every time we watched) happy memories

I have no idea why but watching that clip it reminded me of when we took our daughter to Babbacombe Model Village when she was about 4 and it was a lovely place with a little railway running right around it and various comical little signs the one which sticks in my head the most was the name of the Manor Hall.  Lordelpus Hall!
