I've just seen a man standing up a ladder which was placed at a 45 degree angle - incredibly dangerous. Luckily he must have realised and has now placed it at a better angle. Just as a matter on interest, the official guidance from the Health and Safety department is that it should be at a 75 degree angle or the vertical height of the wall from bottom to where the ladder touches should be 4 times the horizontal distance from where the bottom of the ladder is to the bottom of the wall. That's assuming flat ground.
