Watching Still Game, love it !
For others who havent seen it, its a comedy set in Scotland , its very funny, well i think so anyway

When my son took drama classes, he and a couple of his friends were extras in an episode of Still Game (many years ago).

Oh were they, good on them, did they enjoy it ?

He said there was a lot of waiting around but the cast and crew were nice to them.

He used to really enjoy drama and was going to apply to the RSAMD, then one day decided it wasn't what he wanted any more.

Nice to have the experience tho, and good on the CV x

Drama was great for building his confidence (although he was never a shrinking violet)and there was a very positive attitude towards everything, which was great.

.

aww thats lovely

I'm recording a film called Dean Spanley today. It starts on BBC2 at 12.40 a bit after noon.

It's set in Edwardian times about an elderly man who has little time or affection for his son. When they meet an eccentric Indian, they start a strange journey that eventually allows the father to find his heart.

The film is unusual in that it is a recent film with a U certificate, is not specifically for children, is not a costume drama and is inteliigent. The father is played by Peter O'Toole, the son by Jeremy Northam. The Dean Spanley is the vicar who is played by Sam Neill. So it's a good cast. It's the type of film which I doubt if many people saw it when it was released, but if you are looking for something different from the norm, it may be worth trying.

If you don't spot this in time, the BBC will be putting it on iPlayer for a few days.

Good morning everyone, such fun reading back over the pyjama party that was being held in this thread last night

I have seen that film when it was on TV about a year ago EL.  I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's the sort of thing that stays in your mind, Sam Neill is superb in it, thoroughly recommended to all in here, really whimsically funny.

Off to church soon, have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone, and a Happy New Year to all.

Lovely to see you in here, Marguerita and a Happy New Year to you, too.

My family dinner went well yesterday and youngest son's GF survived the ordeal of meeting the rest of the clan. I hope you all had a good day, too.

Did anyone watch Sherlock last night, I thought it was excellent?

Squiggle, how is the tooth holding out?

Hubby has the day off today, but I'll pop back later on.

Squiggle, for you and me the worst of the coming storm is from midnight to late morning, so unless you have to go out tomorrow morning you should miss the worst of it . As this storm has been forecast for a few days I arranged things so that I shouldn't need to go out at all tomorrow.

Summer, I'm back working from tomorrow and taking things easy today.

Cheltenham Town had another win today - they are now comfortably in the top 3 in League 2. They've got 49 points now and are just over half way through the season. Last year they got a total of 52 points for the whole season so this is a huge improvement from last year.

And it's this coming Saturday when they have their biggest match in their history when they play away to Spurs in the FA Cup.

*night owls* We had an unexpected call from SIL this morning inviting us to go walking with her & her 6 dogs, the weather was ideal and it's rare that we're all off work at the same time so I really enjoyed it. We then went out for sushi and to the cinema, the new Sherlock Holmes film is excellent Well done to el & skylark for enjoying lazy days, I highly approve Sweet dreams and :hugs: to you all *hangs "good luck Cheltenham banner" *

Good morning everyone and a happy new year to your all.    Sorry it's a bit late but I've not had a chance to come here.  I've managed to read through the thread entries for the days I was away so I think I'm just about up to date.  Squiggle, I hope the tooth has not been giving you any trouble.

We had a great Christmas and the trip to help No.1 son with his move went very well.  It was three very busy, long and tiring days but when we left to come home No.1 son was settled in his new flat and the old flat had been cleaned from top to bottom!!

Need to brave the elements to get to the shops this morning but will be back later.

Joyron

Good morning everyone

Summer, I'm sure you are glad that you weren't invited out for a walk today - the weather is revolting. Thanks for the Cheltenham banner - I think they will need all the luck they can get. Although I'm not going to London to the match, I'll be listening to it on the radio on Saturday.

Yesterday evening I saw Endeavour (Morse as a young detective). It was good and had nice touches to the original such as showing his eventual car at a car dealer. There was also a brief glimpse of Colin Dexter who appeared in quite a few of the Morse episodes. John Thaw's daughter Abigail appeared in Endeavour as a newspaper editor. She asks the young Morse if they had met before because she seems to recognise him. He says not, and she then says "Maybe in another life". The only real problem with the programme was that it was hard to see Shaun Evans as a younger version of John Thaw, and that of course is the problem - no-one can be another John Thaw.

For those of you who have to go out today, take care and have a safe jourmey

Good morning everyone.

The weather is atrocious up here, and the winds are frighteningly strong. My lights keep flickering, which I don't like at all.

You don't want to be out walking today, Summer - it's wild!

Good to see you back, Joyron, and I'm glad everything went well with your son's move. Take care while you are out today.

El, I watched Endeaver and agree with your comments. I thought there were the very occasional glimpses of John Thaw's Morse - the tilt of the head and an inflection in the voice - but there could never be another John Thaw, he was a brilliant and unique. I liked Colin Dexter's cameo and also the "rear view mirror" image, towards the end of the programme.

All in all, I enjoyed it. Are they doing another, or was this a one-off, do you know?
