At least he had Christmas off, hope you all have a nice evening when he gets home

As you know we have a huge firework display, i was wondering what the pandas will think of it all , as there are fireworks on Corstorphine Hill too, next to the zoo. I always worry about the poor animals at this time of year , it must be scary for them

FM

Aww, of course, the zoo is near to the fireworks display.

I guess the keepers will do what they can to keep the animals calm, but I bet it's not easy for them.

Youngest son is going through to Edinburgh in January, to take his GF to the ballet (a promise he made when he was under the influence of alcohol) and I think they might also go to the zoo to see the pandas, if they can.

Good morning everyone and good luck with all the shopping those who are out in the shops now.  I hadn't realised that Edinburgh Zoo was near enough to the castle for the animals to be disturbed by the fireworks, I bet the fireworks look lovely but it must be frightening for all the animals, domestic and wild.

I'm back from my shopping - the shops I went to weren't too busy.

I hope none of the animals and birds at the zoo aren't affected too much by the fireworks. I was doing a Google search, and it seems that although monkeys like watching the fireworks if they can, long necked creatures such as giraffes and ostriches are the ones at greatest risk. At least the zoos have people to look after them whereas wild animals and birds don't.

Some zoos have firework displays on Bonfire Night, but only use fireworks which don't have bangs.

El Loro

Back from Tesco, it was very busy to say the least!

squiggle, the zoo is a bit from the castle, but at this time of year fireworks are also let off on the hills, including Corstorphine Hill where the zoo is x

Going to get some cleaning done , my living room looks like an art class, pots of paint, pens etc everywhere!
Have a good day x

good afternoon and happy new years eve to you all I experienced my first migraine this morning it was very sparkly! luckily, mr summer has a stash of migraine medication and gave me this tablet that melts on your tongue, and that dissolved the migraine almost instantly. I was able to drive to work and I took headache tablets too. I would usually be very cautious taking prescription medications that wasn't mine, but I sensed it was urgent and i'm healthy and don't take any other medicines. I'm very glad I did and it worked The cause would have been the amount of chocolate I consumed yesterday, plus a large hot chocolate with whipped cream etc in the evening.. That'll teach me! Then, my colleague didn't come in, she claimed her children have been up all night being sick- but I know she was drinking heavily last night. The lies are worse than being too drunk to come in! Never mind though, work is done, I'm alright now and I have 4 days off Squiggle I hope your tooth has been alright today I hope everyone else has had a lovely day too, anyone for some tiger prawns & sweet chilli dip..?

Oh I forgot to tell you this earlier: Today I had a 21 year old soldier in, he's just got back safe from Afghanistan where he's been checking for EID's for the last 6 months. I couldn't bring myself to charge him for the haircut, I waived the fee and wished him happy new year, thanking him for his effort. He says it's getting worse out there not better

That is so like you Summer I'm glad he is back safely, I wish they all were .

The tooth is not painful so far, I am trying to chew on the other side.  Sounds like you were very sensible about the migraine and I would think correctly identified the probable cause too.  We can get away with a lot less digestion-wise as we get older.

Having a quiet evening Summer , wee one sleeping and the other 2 are out . Bliss

What are you two up to ?

I've now got a mental image of you tied in knots, trying to watch the fireworks.

It's going to be very quiet tonight, as hubby is working tomorrow - a glass of Schloer at The Bells for me.

Youngest son has invited his GF to dinner tomorrow, to meet his brothers and SiL's for the first time. They've all been warned to be on their best behaviour.

I remember that episode. Keep your fingers crossed that my day goes off a bit better than the Royle's.

I've met GF quite a few times and Hubby has met her a couple of times, so at least there will be a couple of familiar faces for her. She's a lovely girl and I'm sure the others will like her.

BTW, I'm nice and welcoming, not one of those scary mothers - honestly!

Hi Ros.

My MiL was very welcoming when I met her, but I do remember one boyfriend's mother, who was a bit of a dragonlady.

I always try to be nice to any girls the boys bring home. Luckily, they have good taste, so it's not hard to be nice and friendly.
