Summer, I'm tempted to join you in a PJ day tomorrow, but I always save It's A Wonderful Life for Christmas Eve.

I might stay in my jammies all day tomorrow though, just to keep you company.

Weather here is getting worse. It's still very blustery and it has been raining heavily, and we've had hailstones, too.

Hi Skylark.

I need to finish writing mine, too. I can't seem to get out of first gear this Christmas, I really need to get organised!

Here's classic example of a regular occurance at work; Me (to customer) : how would you like your hair cut today? Customer: no.3 Me: no.3 *nods* would you like that all over, or just at the back & sides..? Customer: all over Me: all over, are you sure? Customer: yes Me: so you definitely want the number 3 over the top? *points to top of head* Customer: yes So I start at the ear and progress towards the top.. Customer: oh, is that number 3?! That's very short.. I get this often! 3 times asking is plenty enough to clarify in my opinion, and if they say yes 3 times then I refuse to accept any responsibility for their decision. I figure if I ask 4-5 I will sounds very patronising.. I then repeat the conversation to the customer, to clarify that I've done what they've asked me to, and if necessary, I repeat that too! All good fun

Hi Skylark.

I have the same weather as you Yogi, its been horrible here, changing every 10 minutes.  I would join you both in the pj's but I think the Sainsbury's delivery guy might be a little shocked

Our Parcel Force deliveries tend to be early in the morning. I'm sure the delivery guys could write a book about some of the sights they have seen.

I hope the weather improves for everyone really soon - it's blowing a gale and pouring with rain atm.

Signing out early tonight, see you all tomorrow.

For the night owls.

yes I do sing at  Christmas with both choirs - the school staff choir is small but good - the big choir i am in has 80 + members - we do mainly classical - i.e Mozart Beethoven Handel - - mainly sing in Latin and some medieval churchy stuff again in Latin + some stuff from Rutter (American) folksy stuff  - Last week we performed in a local church -  we did a mix of medieval and traditional carols + Handel's Messiah I wore our choir black with big bauble earrings and tinsel

Rocking Ros Rose

Good morning everyone

Rosgirl, you are lucky to be able to sing in choirs. As a boy I was in our church choir, but my voice is too variable to be in a choir now.

Recently I saw the last part of a programme on BBC4 presented by Simon Russell Beale about Tomas Luis de Victoria who was one of the great medieval composers of choral music. I haven't found any clips on Youtube from that programme - if BBC ever repeat it, it is worth watching.

This is a clip not from that programme but gives you a feel for the type of music.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, horrible again here, hailing, windy, freezing cold, hope we get a change for the better.

Interesting clip EL but I'm not a great fan of that sort of choral music.  I love gospel choirs and the best choir I ever saw was a little clip filmed at an airport of a travelling American choir of youngsters (late teens early twenties) heading for home but who broke into song to entertain their fellow travellers.  Simply joyful music with lovely harmonies - wonderful.

I hope everyone is managing to keep warm and to keep going, enjoy your pj day Summer (and Yogi if you're joining in).  Skylark is the wee one getting excited now, and have you taken her to see Santa yet?

I am glad your granddaughter liked the snowmen Skylark.

It occurred to me that they could do with some music playing, any chance of one of your music things that start playing when you open the thread EL, something like 'Rocking Around The Christmas Tree'?

Is this a no. 3?

No prizes for guessing who the above is

I'd say that's a 3 on the sides and about a 5 on the top
El I had to look up who that was! she looks older

good morning Aw what jolly little snowmen! I wish I could sing, I really can't though, so I think it's wonderful that Ros can and does Of course my favourite choir are the new directions, on Glee I've thoroughly enjoyed my lay in, it's been a couple of weeks since I got one. I have to get up and eat though, I'm hungry I went swimming & sauna-ing/steaming last night, and for more than half of my swim, I had the whole pool to myself! The bad weather must have put people off I hope everyone has a lovely day, keep warm what ever you do. I'll pop in from the Sofa in a little bit

Good morning everyone. Still raining up here today. Thankfully, the wind has eased.

Squiggle and El, I love the dancing snowmen and the music vids.

I didn't realise you sang in two choirs, Ros - you must have a lovely voice. Unlike me!

Enjoy your PJ day, Summer.

Skylark, I think it's really sweet that your granddaughter is only asking for one gift. Most kids have a list a mile long.

as promised, here's some pics of some of our christmas tree decorations..

the first is a stocking from edinburgh, i thought it appropriate because yogi & skylark live in scotland we stopped in edinburgh for a night on our way back from hiking ben nevis, it was a spare of the moment decision and we had a wonderful time. the decoration is from the castle.

the gingerbread man is from grasmere in the lake district; from sara nelson's gingerbread shop. yum!

the third is a glass bauble with a tree inside, i saw it in past times, and bought it not knowing that it would become one of mr summer's favourites!

the fourth is a glass ice skating polar bear, i don't even remember where we got him, but we love it!

hang on, there's more to come..

the 3rd is from suffolk, like me we got it at one of my favourite gift shop/cafe's, they were originally famous for corn dollys!

the fourth is from durham, i just saw it and had to buy it! he's part of a set of 3, but he's my favourite, i like his acrobatics lol

hope you enjoy these, i'm off for lunch now merry christmas

On my local newspaper website:

The Gloucester Waterways Museum is giving youngsters an unusual opportunity to visit Santa by stepping aboard a number of scheduled cruises departing from the museum at Gloucester Docks, between December 17-24.

Children will be enthralled when Santa arrives down the chimney aboard the motor vessel King Arthur during a 45-minute cruise down the Gloucester-Sharpness canal.

All children on board will receive a gift from Santa while adults can tuck into a hot mince

pie.

El Loro

Good evening everyone.    Sorry I've not been about.  Had a busy day.  The boilerman came to service the boilers.  Hubby told him about how much oil we have been using  He said that for some unknown reason the oil pressure was very high, which could be the reason why so much oil has disappeared from our tank.  Well the boilers have now been serviced and the settings are correct (at least I hope so) so we will have to wait and see if the oil lasts a bit longer over the coming weeks.

Hope you are all doing okay.  Catch up soon.
