I'm with Virgin and the only advice they give is to change my phone number. I don't want to do that and in any case they would soon find the new number.

01234 567890 can be a real number - it would be in the Bedford area. I doubt it is used though, and it you do a Google search on that number you will see that lots of characters use that number for carrying out so called surveys, or about claiming for missold payment protection insurance, or other similar stupid things. This week I've had a similar type of one of these calls on a daily basis.

Although this has to be one of the biggest irritations in modern life, I doubt whether the government is likely to have it very high on their list of priorities.

Thanks for the warning EL, I will probably feel it more than most as the location of my house is high up between a valley and the sea and it is a bit of a wind tunnel at the best of times.  I will do my level best to ensure I don't have to go out on those days.

Considering the strength of the wind, the damage hasn't been as bad as it might have been, and thankfully no serious injuries, as far as I know.

Going to read my book in bed, see you all tomorrow.

Goodnight everyone.

I'm back from doing my regular weekly shop at M&S. I go there early before it gets really busy, particularly at this time of the year. I said it was frosty first thing this morning, and this was the first time this year that there was some on the car. You may remember that earlier in the year my heated front windscreen wasn't working on the passenger side and so I got it replaced. Today was the first time I was able to see if the new windscreen heating worked, and I can report that it does

I thought it would be the time to stock up on Christmas puddings and cake. I got more than I normally would as my brother will be staying with me for almost 6 whole days. I gor some of the individual puddings - the larger ones are too much for 2 people at one meal.

And I got :

It should be more than enough. Being a bar makes it easier to slice off however much one wants, and if he wants, my brother can take back some of what is left when he returns to London.

Great shopping choices El! Mr summer & his sisters get up very early the day before Xmas eve to be at M&S for 6am, they buy all the party food for our get together and some, it's an annual tradition they all really look forward to! I went last year but I'm laying in as much as possible this year I'm really pleased about your windscreen too, you've waited an extra long time this year!

I am sure it is Summer

Its lovely isn't it, a nice way to finish, she's written a few more in that vein, mind you you have to search through because she has written loads and loads of books.

Yogi I loved The Copper Beech, I have just finished reading Minding Frankie, I have lent it to a friend now with strict instructions for her to let me have it back by Christmas as I want to pass it over to my daughter - poor thing she is reading as fast as she can, bless.

Just seen your post EL, sound like some good choices, I am glad the windscreen heater is working now

It would have been nice if I had had to wait even longer

In Cheltenham M&S won't be opening on the 23rd and 24th until 7am.

I can imagine her speed reading as fast as she can.

This afternoon, Cheltenham beat Southend 3-0. This was an important match as Cheltenham are in 3rd place and Southend were top. The result means that Southend drop to 2nd place and Cheltenham are just 1 point behind them. In the second division, the top 3 clubs get automatic promotion. Cheltenham are in buoyant mood at present with a run of wins and their manager got the award for manager of the month at the start of the match.

Good morning everyone, very cold here but dry so far, it will probably pour down as soon as I set off.

Sorry to hear you have a cold EL, hope you can shake it off before Christmas and well done on not going to church and spreading it to everyone else

Skylark your wee one reminds me of my daughter when she was small, she lived in her wellies, she loved 'em.

Safe journey back Summer, hope you are feeling better today Yogi.  Thinking of you Joyron.  A quick hi to Ros, hope all is going smoothly for your Christmas.

Good morning everyone.

Hope you feel better soon, El. Well done to Cheltenham on their win.

Mr Yogi has a very sore throat and a bit of a temperature, so I think he'll be staying in bed today.

Sounds like a good weekend, have a safe journey home, Summer.

I hope you manage to get to church without the need for a pair of wellies, Squiggle.

Skylark, Ros and Joyron.

Don't feel too sorry for him, Ros. He's been doing his dying swan act all day and I've taken good care of him.

Actually, he says he's feeling a lot better tonight.

I hope you are feeling better, EL.
