Good morning It's very foggy again, but yesterday turned into a glorious afternoon so I'm hoping today might be the same Squiggle I was about to ask skylark that question too, great minds.. What did you both have?! When in Italy this year we bought food for our own breakfasts, I was impressed that they had soya milk I really enjoyed breaking dawn last night! *leaves fruits, waffles, pancakes & toasts for breakfast*

Morning everyone
A bit grey here too today.
The Italian place is lovely squiggle, they do everything really , cooked typical breakfast or a section of deli cooked hams etc. They make their own selection of breads, which is just to die for . A good selection of teas and coffee.I am making myself hungry now

Having a cleaning day, doing the windows and curtains. Have a good day all

FM

Good morning everyone. Cloudy but dry up here, too.

Thank you for the breakfast, Summer. I'll help myself to a pancake (or two).

The breakfast in the Italian restaurant sounds nice, Skylark. Mr Yogi has an Italian SiL who cooks the most delicious food - yummy!

Your mention of window cleaning has reminded me that mine need cleaning. I think I'll leave them until tomorrow though.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, catch up later.

Good afternoon everyone

I've just dropped my brother off at the railway station. Because of the rail engineering work, and some of the journey will be by coach or bus and there are also roadworks it will take him a good 4 and a half hours to get back to where he lives - the Essex part of London. At least he's got the rest of the birthday cake with him if he starts to get hungry.

We had a pleasant weekend not doing a lot. Yesterday evening we started watching a film I had recorded but he was falling asleep so I stopped playing it. It was only just after 9 and he didn't want to go to bed at that time, so I found a couple of games to play with him so that he would have something to think about rather than just watching something. Played Boggle, there's 25 lettered dice which you roll into a 5 by 5 square. Then you make as many words from that square - letters have to be next to each other but in any direction - in a set time limit.

The other game was:

This is a card game which we haven't played for a number of years. There's 6 cards with a total value on them and each player takes on of those. The other cards have a variety of values and the player starting first has 8, the others have 7. The first player discards one of the 8, then each player takes it in turn to take the most recently discarded card or a card from the rest of the pack, and then to discard one of their cards. The winner is the first person to have their 7 cards totalling the value shown on their total card.

As I said we haven't played Sum-It for a number of years. When I say that the cards are in pounds, shillings and pence, you will realise that it is a very long time since we had played it. I thought that we might be the only people playing this game, but I see that you can get it on Ebay, and I see that there is a website which appears to be selling new packs at ÂĢ12.

My brother showed me some of the photos he took recently on his holiday in Poland. A few of them are extraordinary, particularly one of them. I've asked him if he can email some of these so that, hopefully, I will be able to post them here. Not the typical type of holiday snapshot. Although he and his friend visited Auschwitz he did not take any photos there so I'm not posting anything from there.

El I grew up playing card games, I just love them! I wish mr summer would play them but he's not into it. I'm glad you had a good weekend with your brother, although I am disappointed you gave him ALL of the cake I have a new personal best for longest Nordic walk- 6.97 miles what a shame I didn't do 7 miles, I should have checked my app before finishing, I'd have gone round the block until I reached it lol It took me 2 hours, and I burned off 744 calories, which allowed me to eat a garlic baguette all to myself I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday, I wonder who went on strictly. Not long to wait..

El, I like the sound of Boggle, although I have never played it. I like word games.

I'm afraid, I am rubbish at card games and would be particularly bad at card games involving numbers.

I look forward to see your brother's pics of Poland. When we went to Poland, we also visited Auschwitz, and we didn't take any photographs either. I felt it would have been wrong (for me) to take pics, as if it were a tourist attraction, rather than a memorial to all those who died in the camp. Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else, but I know what I mean.

I'm glad you had a nice weekend with your brother and I hope the birthday cake was one of our no-calorie versions.

Forgot to say, I hope your brother has a lovely birthday tomorrow.

I like garlic bread but I don't think I could eat a whole baguette.

Of course, you probably worked up an appetite on your 7 mile hike.

That's exactly what I felt too Yogi, and it must never ever be forgotten.

I too hope your brother has a lovely birthday tomorrow EL.  That place for breakfast sounds wonderful Skylark.

In complete agreement, Squiggle, it must never be forgotten.

Summer, I divided the cake into 6 pieces, we had a slice each on Friday, another slice yeaterday, and my brother took the rest back with him as it's his birthday tomorrow. Although he is working 9 to 7 tomorrow, he's going out with his friend who works with him for a nice meal after work.

Yogi, I can't say for certain that the cake had no calories in

I agree with you about taking photos inside Auschwitz and I think my brother would have felt that, as you say, it would make it feel as if it was a tourist attraction.

Here's to garlic bread

You put me in the mood for garlic bread. Son is ordering a Domino's pizza and I asked him to check if they sold garlic bread - they don't.

Help yourself to some mince pies, I have plenty to share.

I'm sure you will find that he has left plenty for you Just beware that he has a burglar alarm, and a ravenous carniverous frog called Herman who guards his property.

Good morning everyone. Some very heavy showers here and the sky is very grey.

El, I love the pics of the Salt Mine, they are so beautiful. I can only imagine the time, effort and skill required to produce those stunning carvings.

Squiggle, thank you for the book recommendations, I shall peruse them later (and more than likely order a couple).

Summer, glad you got the mince pies. Beware of Herman, if you visit El's brother to get some birthday cake.

Joyron, I'm thinking of you.
