Agreed.

My greenhouse is all clean and shining again. It was hard work but worth it.

I made youngest son look out of his bedroom window and admire my handy work.

I'm sure he called upon his years of experience at drama classes when he exclaimed, "Oh yes Mum, that looks lovely!".

I may have to sing that wee song, as I polish the furniture with Mr Sheen tomorrow.

It's getting that way here as well. It's also been drizzling all day and is forecast to be like this all week. I've had my light on all day, and if I was driving anywhere, car lights full on would be a must. At least it's relatively mild for the time of year.

The Met Office forecast today for 22 November to 6 December:

Temperatures should remain largely above normal for the first part of the period, with variable amounts of cloud around and mostly dry weather, especially in the south and east of the UK. Towards the end of November and into the start of December, temperatures are likely to return to near normal for the time of year, together with more unsettled conditions bringing occasional spells of rain interspersed with drier, clearer conditions in between.

So the Met Office have yet to agree with that website which has forecast a record breaking winter,

No signs of blizzards and heavy snow for the foreseeable then.

We've all heard of St Francis of Assisi. The Italian artist Giotto did a series of frescos in a chuch in Assisi based on St Francis's life. This is one of them depicting his death:

Giotto would have painted this around 700 years ago. But hidden in this fresco is a little detail which has remain unknown until recently The discovery was made by Italian art historian Chiara Frugone. It shows a profile of a figure with a hooked nose, a sly smile, and dark horns hidden among the clouds - the devil is in the detail.

What follows is a close up of part of the picture - I've circled the image in red. In the picture above, it is about an inch below the figure in a red robe at the top and a bit to the right.

No-one can know why Giotto did this, it may be because he was getting his own back at someone he didn't like,

evening i'm just running a bath, but thought i'd upload some pics of my snowmen!

the first pic is the class of 2011

the second show's their cards; each snowman is actually a xmas tree decoration, you pull the snowman off and hang him on the tree!

i like that because they're all handmade, no 2 are exactly the same, they have slight size/shape variations hehe

i see some interesting pics up there ^ i'll pop back after my bath to investigate. meanwhile, here's a little something to keep you all warm..

Thank you I'm glad you like them They've been the largest card project I've undertaken to date, and although I've thoroughly enjoyed it, I wouldn't be in a hurry to start it all over again I think next year I will have to scale back a little, I do get competitive with myself! I was thinking I might have a simple card but write a short story to go in it..? El, how interesting, where on earth did you find that out?! That face certainly looks like an devil type character! Is there a story or known reason behind it? Sweet dreams squiggle & yogi sleep well Skylark, el & joyron I hope you all sleep well too *refreshes snack tray for ros & velvet in case they pop in later*
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Squiggle, I hope all goes well for you at the dentist today

Summer, those snowmen cards are great - well done

Re the devil image in that Giotto fresco. I spotted the story on the BBC news website, was intrigued by it, saw more information about it on Reuters website, and found the photograph of the fresco (which is in the public domain) and put my posting together with the help of good old Paint (Windows). As the devil image has only just been found, I doubt if the reason why Giotto included can be found out. He did it in secrecy so probably wouldn't have kept any written details of it.

Although many of the St Francis frescos in Assisi are ascribed to Giotto it is not certain that in fact he had any involvement with them. The artist Cimabue is known to have done some of them and legend has it that Giotto was his pupil and went with him to Assisi, but this is not known for certain. Some art historians think that Cimabue was assisted by a group of fresco painters from Rome, the most famous being Pietro Cavallini. Giotto would have been about 20 at the time and did not become well known until later.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good. I hope whoever it was made it home (or to the nearest garage).

Love the Leaning Tower of Pisa wedding cake.

Having just been out, I had a look out for that car. The owners had parked it on their drive (sort of as it was sticking out pver the pavement) and I could see them looking at the lower part of the car, presumably trying to work out what had happened. They are not people I know and many houses away so I doubt if I will ever find out what had happened.

Another unsolved mystery for the forum. My guess is the exhaust has fallen off.

I don't think it was the exhaust as there would probably be black smoke coming out at the back of the car and when my exhaust got damaged, the sound that made was very different. The owners were looking at the front of the car as well which would rule out the exhaust.

I could always walk down the road and ask them, but I don't think they would appreciate it

good afternoon! Yogi I hope you have a lovely lunch *wonders what she's having* El, I dare say it was the exhaust too, it's happened to me on 2 occasions, it's noisy and very embarrassing! Fortunately, it's easily fixed, I hope the car in question could get to a garage ok. I love that Pisa cake too I've requested a pic of this wonky cake, hopefully I'll be able to show you soon. I can describe it as each layer sloping in the opposite direction of the one above it.. I've had a very busy morning so I'm pleased to be sitting down and getting some lunch, corned beef hash is today choice! Squiggle I hope your new filling is permanent & feels good
~Sparkling Summer~

Squiggle, I'm sure you are glad that that is out of the way

Summer, when I have to have a filling, sometimes I get a jab, sometimes without. It depends on the size of the filling and also if it's upper or lower row. I'm more likely to get a jab if it's upper as I think teeth seem to be more sensitive, possibly because they can be quite close to your lower maxiliary sinus cavities.

I wouldn't be surprised if other paintings have little mysteries waiting to be discovered.

Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvatore Mundi" (meaning saviour of the world) was painted about 500 years ago and had long been thought lost. It was rediscovered and bought by a consortium of US art dealers and recenttly authenticated as shown in a recent BBC documentary. Ii is included in the exhibition at the National Gallery in London which opened today and continues until 5 February. I suspect people would have to book tickets in advance as this exhibition is a once in a lifetime event. The exhibition does not include the Mona Lisa (which would be of such staggering value that no museum would dare transport it) and The Last Supper (impractical and too fragile to be capable of being moved). The exhibition does include a copy of The Last Supper done by another artist.

This is a clip of the exhibition

I opted not to have an injection, I usually do that, I hate that numb feeling and I take my chances, no pain at all thankfully
