Good morning everyone

When I was going through the books in my parents' house earlier this year I came across and kept a copy of one of Beatrix Potter's books. Although my father had always lived in Gloucester my mother was living in London until they married. It was an engagement present from him to her (there is a dated message from him at the front). The book is The Tailor of Gloucester. He probably bought it from the Tailor of Gloucester Beatrix Potter Museum and Shop which has been at College Court in Gloucester for generations.

No rabbits, but lots of mice. This is the illustration on the dustjacket on my copy:

At church tomorrow, we have a guest preacher due to come and give a sermon. He is the bishop of St Germans in Cornwall, and I think he is a friend of the vicar who is Cornish. The only reason I'm posting this is because of his name which is unusual and is the sort of name that you might expect in a Dickens novel or a Carry On film. I just hope that his voice isn't like his name

The Right Reverend Roydon Screech

Wow what a fantastic name I wonder where it originates from?! Yogi, the guest bunnies seem to have settled in just fine thank you, I stroked them this morning, I didn't want to fuss them when they first arrived.. I'll see if they fancy a cuddle later My bunnies live outside so the 4 of them won't mingle, shame really because I'd like to have seen how they would mix together.
~Sparkling Summer~

What a brilliant name, I hope he doesn't live up to it tomorrow, El.

Summer, glad the bunnies have settled into their holiday home - are they boys or girls?

I saw a beautiful golden labrador puppy (just like Harvey used to be) in the village, this afternoon. I virtually accosted the owners, so that I could get to stroke him.

They have got to be joking!

I would definitely shop around for a much cheaper quote, Squiggle.

Is anyone watching Autumnwatch this year?

Michaela Strachan has replaced Kate Humble - I don't like Michaela.

I don't mind Chris Packham, although I preferred Bill Oddie, and I miss the lovely Simon King.

The programme has changed too much for my liking.

That is the most outrageous increase I've ever seen . Have they given a reason for this? Do they think it is your grandson driving your car as that is the level which he might expect?

No they know perfectly well that its only me that drives the car.  My reaction was immediately that they no longer seem to want me as a customer of theirs.  I am getting quotes and I it would seem that even with the same excess etc I can easily get under their quote for last year.  I did phone them but the guy had no explanation and merely wanted to tediously walk me through the quote, and at that point I had a call waiting, a dear friend, so I merely said it would not be an automatic renewal this year and I would get back to them.

Its awful when they change presenters like that Yogi, I can understand why you are upset Michaela Strachan is, as far as I can recall, much more strident than dear Kate Humble and I liked Simon King too.  I don't usually watch but my hairdresser is an avid fan.

Phew, that's a relief, Summer.

Cuddles are nice.

I used to love Spring and Autumnwatch, but I don't think I can keep watching Michaela Strachan.

Good morning everyone

Weather looks OK today and tomorrow here, but downhill from then onwards. Although it will seem a bit of a shock because it's been warmer than normal for this time of year, it looks as if things return to average for this time of year.

I'm tempted to take ear plugs with me to church this morning in case the preacher lives up to his name

El Loro

Good morning everyone, I am sure your speaker will be very interesting EL and you won't need the earplugs at all, do tell us all about it later.

It seems to me that the more gentle laid back presenters are being shoved off programmes a lot nowadays and replaced by those of a more pushy (and loud) nature.  Some of them I simply cannot bear to watch.

I wonder if my church service will be as interesting as yours EL, enjoy!

squiggle

Morning everyone
Had a busy day yesterday with my Granddaughter, daughter has just picked her up and they are off to Church. They are coming back for lunch.
Hope the speaker is interesting El. what a fabulous name !
Glad the bunnies are well Summer x
