I was so sad to hear how Judy Garland was treated cruelly about her appearance, she was certainly no ugly duckling! I was shocked too that her own mother & husband convinced her to terminate her first pregnancy, I'm not surprised the marriage collapsed & she disowned her mother.
Of course we shouldn't judge because we don't know what really went on behind closed doors but it must have had a huge negative affect on her

I'm feeling sad and rather annoyed at the moment. 
It appears that my sky+ box has gone on the blink and if that's the case I have lost all the episodes of "Spooks" and "Downton Abbey" that I recorded!! No. 1 son is calling in on his way home from work to see if he can do anything but I fear the worst.
I know I could download both programmes but with the poor internet speed that I have it would take forever. I suppose I will have to wait for both programmes to come out on DVD and buy them then.
Hope all goes well with the mortgage renewal meeting Summer. I bet you look good with your new hair do Squiggle!! Lots of love to all my other lovely buddies.

I hope sky replace your faulty box!Hi Joyron, thats a shame about your + box. I have Sky but dont have the +box so dont know if it will have saved your recordings. You can watch on iplayer, but as you say if you have a slow speed its hopeless. I have tried watching but often the picture will stick etc and it just becomes annoying.

If he can't and you decide to try to download and watch them then for:
Downton Abbey - episode 1 there's only 5 days left on ITV player
Episode 2 12 days, Episode 3 19 days and Episode 4 26 days
Spooks - all 4 episodes so far shown are on BBC iPlayer until October 30.
With the BBC iPlayer it is possible to download the episodes on to your computer and watch them until October 30. So you could download each episode overnight then play it without the programme sticking.

Sorry to say that there is nothing we can do to retrieve the programmes!! Sky will be sending out a new HD box (with double the recording space) in the next few days, which No. 1 son will install. That was cheaper than buying a new Sky+ box or going for the service programme which would mean they would replace the box as it is. The HD box comes free and we get HD prgrammes for a year for a little over the same price as the other options. No brainer really!!
I've decided not to worrry about the programmes I've lost. Once the DVDs come out I'll buy them and watch the programmes with Hubby's new "wonder" cinema surround system instead. 
Won't be back again tonight. Out shopping early tomorrow but will catch up with you all later.

Joyron, sorry you lost your recorded programmes. The same thing happened to us when our V+ box broke. Luckily we hadn't recorded anything special, so it wasn't so bad.

Good news from the mortgage advisor, there really are some great deals at the moment.
We can more than halve our current interest rate for a start, which is super. Then, we can lower our monthly payment by over ÂĢ100, which would be good, but we're going to add on overpayments so we keep to our current payment amount... that basically means that during the next 2 years we can smash 8 years off our mortgage!
The advisor was very impressed with my organisation of all our documents too
I'm wide awake now my update zoomed through so the Internet was definitely faster tonight

It was on the news this morning that the gas & electricity suppliers are now making a profit of ÂĢ125 a year from every customer, it was ÂĢ15 back in June before the recent increases, and it is expected to settle down to ÂĢ90 next year.
The average combined cost of gas and electricity is now calculated at ÂĢ1,345 a year. Mine works out at ÂĢ948 which is not bad considering I work from home rather than going out to work.
