It is nameless, but is on it's third load of drying.

Sweet dreams squiggle & yogi I thoroughly enjoyed Downton! I can't remember how many episodes are left now Squiggle, saving them up is a grand idea, that's how I watched series 1- it tests my patience waiting a whole week for the next episode! Yogi I did mean using the dryer, but naming it would be fun, I'm glad it's showing it's skills off productively so far Sweet dreams in here, including velvet & ros

Good morning everyone

It's cloudy and windy today - I'm hoping that it doesn't rain when the man comes to replace my windscreen this morning, but the clouds do look threatening.

"I was a male war bride" is on Film 4 today starting at 11 - another classic Cary Grant comedy directed by Howard Hawks - worth watching if you haven't seen it before.

Good morning everyone. It is bucketing down, up here - and is set to remain so, for quite a while.

Summer, I shall be watching Downton as I tackle my large pile of ironing this morning, it will help alleviate the boredom.

Squiggle I saw a piece on BBC Breakfast about problems with moles - and thought of you.

Good morning El. Thank you for the heads up, I have set the V+ to record it.

I love Cary Grant films.

Yogi19

How about this for a coincidence. The man who lives opposite me is currently having his front windscreen replaced - spooky

Yogi, I certainly rate Cary Grant as my favourite male actor, and when there was a survey of the best film actors and actresses on Channel 4 a few years ago, of pre-modern film actors, he came out as the best male film actor.

El Loro

Morning everyone xx
Downton was good last night, i know what you mean about having to wait another week Summer !
Oh spooky El
I thought of you squiggle when watching Marlon in Emmerdale getting his cookery books! Hope mine doesnt come today i have to go out, but postie will leave a card and i can pick it up.
Off to find a fax machine, my scanner not working, not sure why and have to send off paperwork re my pension.
Have a good day

Good morning everyone.  I know Skylark wasn't that spooky in Emmerdale, I mean I have never heard of anyone in a soap producing a cookbook and as soon as we do it they have it on a soap   Also we are right bang in fashion (on trend as they say ) what with The Great British Bake-Off.

Did they come up with any good tips about Moles Yogi?  I still just flick the earth away if I get a new hill, its not ideal but it stops the grass dying off.

Good luck with the windscreen EL and I hope it stays dry.

I love Cary Grant films too, a really good looking guy, great charisma and impeccable comedy timing, they really don't make 'em like that any more, even George Clooney is a pale shadow compared to the incomparable Cary.

Good morning I'm just having a sneaky cuppa at work, whilst reading a certain, very delightful cook book Squiggle I love it! I've left you a message in the dialogue El, how spooky re your windscreens I hope they both go in easily and as dry as possible Yogi I hope you enjoy Downton, I'll say no more so I don't drop any spoilers Skylark I hope you don't get rained on whilst out, I had to run out to pick up some change and got soaked! Thank goodness for hairdryers at work!

They were talking about poisons and traps.

Some people were putting those musical birthday cards down the holes.

They said the mole problem seems worse this year and they have caused a lot of damage.

I agree with everything you and El have said about Cary Grant - definitely one of my all-time favourite actors.

Wasn't it odd about Marlon's cookbook? Maybe one of the Emmerdale scriptwriters lurks on here.

El, I hope it stays dry until you get your windscreen fixed. Spooky that your neighbour was having his windscreen reaired/replaced on the same day.

Skylark, I hope you find a fax machine and get your paperwork sorted out.

Yogi19

It did stay dry and the man replacing my windscreen has been and gone Hopefully, I won't be able to check that the heating works for some weeks yet, but it is under guarantee.

Squiggle, I also enjoyed the Great British Bake Off - great fun. Mel and Sue seem to be some of the nicer comediennes around and have always worked well together.

I agree with you about Cary Grant. The majority of his films have been worth watching, though I remember him in one of his very early films Sylvia Scarlett which also had Katherine Hepburn (made 3 years before Bringing Up Baby) and that was a rather odd film.

El Loro

Good morning everyone.    It's sunny and dry here at the moment, but very windy.  Sorry I was not about much last week but I felt rather unwell all week (probably as a result of my very busy time during the two weeks before) and was rather unsociable.  Pleased to say I'm feeling better this week.

Although I didn't post I did keep up with reading the posts.  Squiggle, I enjoy reading Milly Johnson too and have "Spring Affair", Summer Fling" and "Autumn Crush" in my pile of books to read.  She has also written "Here Come the Girls" and if you get a chance to read that I can highly recomment it.  It's about four women who go on a cruise to the Med together.  All the time I was reading it I kept thinking this is SO familiar.  When I got to the acknowledgement at the back it said "thanks to P & O and the captain and crew of Azura".  That, of course, was the ship we took our cruise to the Med on this time last year!!!

Today is our 41st wedding anniversary.  We've had lots of lovely cards and flowers from the family and I'm hoping hubby will be taking me out for a meal this evening, if he can get home from work early enough.  He has one of his big bosses coming to the office this afternoon so there is no telling what time he will finish.

I have been recording both "Spooks" and "Downton Abbey" and, like Squiggle, have not watched any of the episodes yet.  I will wait until all episodes have been recorded and then have a copule of completely lazy days watching one episode after the other.  How naughty is that??

Glad to hear the new tumble drier is working well for you Yogi.  Hope the windscreen replacement goes without a hitch El Loro.  Lots of love to Skylark, Summer and all the other lovely buddies that come into this thread.  I cannot remember what everyone has been up to so please forgive me if I've not mentioned something I should have done.  Be back later.

Joyron
Happy anniversary Joyron 41 years is wonderful, congratulations! I hope you get to have a celebratory meal out tonight. Stockpiling your favourite programmes for a lazy day, or pyjama day as I call it hehe, is a very beneficial thing to do it's not often we actually make time to just relax, but I think everyone should! I try to have a pyjama day once in about every 6 weeks Sorry to hear you've been unwell, I'm glad you're feeling better this week and long may it continue

Warmest congratulations Joyron . Sorry to hear you were feeling unwell last week and I hope you are feeling better now.

Oh yes I intend to buy every one of Milly Johnson's books, thank you for the recommendations and wasn't that a lovely coincidence?  I really look forward to reading that one especially I would love to go on a cruise (or I would have loved when my dear hubby was with me, it wouldn't be the same without him).

I don't have pyjama days as such, but I get into my pyjamas as early as possible every night. I love my jammies.

Good evening everyone.    Not heard from hubby yet so I don't know if I'm going out for a meal tonight or not!!

Had a really lazy day reading my new Milly Johnson book "Yorkshire Pudding Club".  It's good and I cannot put it down.  I've got about half way through now (so that shows you I've done nothing else today).

Will try and get back later.  If not will catch up with you all again tomorrow.  Have a good evening, whatever you are doing.

Joyron

Joyron, I hope hubby has contacted you by now and that you have a good evening

I found this link which lists by year both the traditional and modern gifts for wedding anniversaries. Not surprisingly there is no traditional gift for the 41st anniversary, but there is a modern idea. However the idea listed could be just a little bit on the expensive side to say the least

Joyron, I hope hubby came home in time to take you out for dinner.

I have ordered my first Milly Johnson book (on Squiggle's recommendation) and hopefully it should arrive tomorrow or Wednesday.

After three days of car hunting, Mr Yogi has found one he wants. All going well, he should have it sometime next week. He works hard, and deserves a decent car.

Squiggle, hubby thinks you have done a really good job with the cookbook - he thinks the recipes are great.

Yogi19

Yogi I am so pleased Mr Yogi likes the book too and that he rates the recipes.  Its nice to have a cookbook where the recipes really are tried and true, and as you see some in constant use for 60 years, not many can lay claim to that.  The lady who has those really old recipes is a real sweetheart, she is tiny, only 6st 8lb.  I am glad he has found a new car too, I wish you and him many hundreds of miles of trouble-free motoring.

I have never been on ebay, but hubby and sons use it.

I can ask them questions for you, if you think it might help.

^^^^ Those are the type of recipes that hubby loves. He spends ages in charity shops, looking for old recipe books, and has lots. At one point, I actually banned him from buying any more, but that didn't last too long.

Yogi19

The book is really good squiggle, spent some time this afternoon having a good look at it. I havent done any real baking for a long time so it will be an adventure ! I may make "Coffee Kisses" tomorrow, what a nice name and they sound yum

Thank you for the offer Yogi, its just generally how to get started.. Nothing of any great value really, some Edinburgh Crystal , Caithness glass, jewellery and some ornaments. I just dont know how to start the auction off and the best way to do it.
Anyway have to get off, chat tomorrow x
Goodnight everyone, sleep well , much love

Skylark, hubby says it's quite easy to do - the site guides you through it.

Once you are registered, click on the drop down menu from SELL. There is an option to browse categories, which will help you decide which section to display your items in, eg, pottery and glass. You can opt to put a reserve on your item or just auction it, and you can upload a photo of the item, too.

He says to remember there is a seller's fee, but the site will tell you how much it will be.

Mr Yogi says, if he can do it, so can you.
