Good morning everyone

I went to the church harvest supper yesterday evening. We have it each year - a simple buffet style meal - ham or cheese followed by a home made individual plum pie. You have a choice of cream or custard. I chose cream though would normally have chosen custard, but last year, the custard was dreadful - warm yellow water - and I wasn't going to have it again.

Then we have the auction of the harvest produce given (that's what's left after giving some to some parishioners who are infirm). This year they also auctioned off some other items including a copy of "Ability Office - Business version" which we think was given by a local computer shop.

When the auctioneer started the bidding at ÂĢ1 I motioned to him and said I think it is worth some what more than that, and they withdrew it. It would make more sense to hold it back for our annual auction as we would get a better chance of getting a more realistic price. I checked this morning and it has a retail price of ÂĢ34-99 so we should be able to get a lot more than a few pounds.

I bid for a basket of fruit and got it for ÂĢ5 (after all it is for charity - we raised over ÂĢ400 in the evening for Christian Aid).

So here's a fruit brekkie for you:

Aww Velvet, that ^^^^ is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me, thank you.

But I definitely don't snore.

Good morning everyone.

El, thank you for the healthy, fruit breakfast - I can tuck in, without feeling guilty.

I noticed our parish church had requested non-perishable good for the harvest festival donations, as they are being handed on to a homeless charity.

I understand the logic, but tins of soup and beans aren't very harvest-like.

Your comment about the custard made me chuckle - sounds like the custard we had at primary school.

Good morning everyone, cool and drizzly here.  Off to have a blood test soon (diabetic review time).  Thank you for brekkie EL, lucky this time its not a fasting blood test so I am OK

EDIT  I am trying to start a dialogue with those Buddies who want a copy of the cookbook.  Don't we have a group of friends anymore?  Do I have to trawl through all of the members on here (about 1500) to search for your names to add you?  Help

Good morning Squiggle.

If you go into Dialogues, then Add Participants, there is a "filter" search bar thing.

You put in the name of the FM you want and it brings up their Avi and name, then you can add them to the Dialogue (by clicking on their avi to select them and then clicking on continue with dialogue creation).

I think you have to continue adding everyone you want in the PM, in this way.

If there is a quicker way, then I don't know it.

I'm getting on with it OK now Yogi but I didn't seem to find that odd filter thing any use at all.  I'm probably using it wrong but I have hit a snag.  Summer it seems I do not have permission to add you, we obviously need to befriend each other.  I will try and send a friend request but if anyone can get a message to her quick, I will try and leave the page open because I don't want to go through all that faff again.

EDIT  It doesn't look like we still have the friends system but Summer you need to give me permission to include you in a dialogue

Squiggle, I've just come back from dropping my car off for its annual MOT and service so have just seen your post re PMs.

As Yogi said, you click on Add Participants and use the resulting filter to choose people. In the Filter box, type the first few letters of their user name including the ~ for Summer, then click Go, then click on the avatar from the resulting list.

Next to Community Members at the top left is a running total of the people you have selected. So when you click on someone's avatar that number will increase by 1. If you happen to click on that avatar again, they get deselected.

Then repeat the process for each person. Once you've finished, click on Continue with Dialog Creation.

Once you have created a dialog, it is impossible to add any additional person to it. You would have to create a separate dilaog for them.

The old Buddies system doesn't exist on this forum.

However it does still exist on the Livecloud site

Good afternoon everyone.    Sorry I've not been about sooner.  It's amazing how much post you have to deal with after two weeks away, and the phone has not stopped ringing!!  The weather here is still sunny and quite warm, but rather windy today.

Hope all went okay with the blood tests Squiggle.  I got a letter from my doctors saying the GTT test I had a few weeks back needs to be repeated in 12 months time.  No mention of the cholesterol results so I assume they are okay.  Pleased to hear we are getting closer to receiving the cookery book.  Cannot wait.  Didn't get a chance to make the fatless sponge during my penfriend's visit but will be doing so as soon as the right occasion arises.

Hope all my other lovely buddies are doing okay and not working too hard.  Will try and get back later.

Joyron

Good afternoon Joyron

I'm glad all went well with your penfriend's visit and that is good news about your test results. I'm sure that if something had been amiss with the cholesterol results they wouldn't have said come back in a year's time.

Squiggle, I hope all goes well with the cookery book. I know I haven't arranged for a copy from you but living by myself and limiting myself to only a small piece of cake a day would mean that I couldn't really get a lot of use out of a cake book.

I've just come back from picking my car up from its service and MOT - nothing of note. However when I took my car in last year I told them that my front windscreen heater (to defrost ice) wasn't working on the passenger side. They said they had sorted it but when in the depths of winter I tried it, it still didn't work. I left it and just used the good old scraper as by the time I had got to where I get the car serviced, the warmth inside the car would have got rid of the ice so I wouldn't be able to prove it.

So when I booked it this year, I told them again, and when I took it in this morning, I told the receptionist who made a note.

When I picked it up, I asked about it and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the rear windscreen heater. It appears that the note made when I made the booking and what the receptionist wrote this morning was wrong.

So I have to go back on Friday morning to get it sorted.

A strange thing has happened with my e-mails today. I received an e-mail which claimed to be from DiL - it had her name and correct e-mail address on it. There was a link, which I clicked on (doh!) and it took me to a page on "working from home".

I spoke to my DiL tonight and she never sent the e-mail. We are now thinking her account may have been hacked and because I clicked on the link, so might mine.

The service provider's Help page suggests installing anti-virus (which I already have) and running a whole system scan and to change password details.

I'm running the scan right now, and no threats so far. I don't like this.

Update: scan is complete and there are no virus/spyware/warnings/rootkits (whatever rootkits are), so that's good - I hope.

i had the very same thing Yogi.  I got an email from my sister, name etc ok , but no subject, which isnt unusual. I opened it and there was a link, which i clicked on. it was for a company that does men,s whatnots enlargements. i thought why on earth is she sending me this. Anyway on opening it up my security said threat and i closed it immediately. There was a list of other names too that it had been sent to, she was mortified. I reported it under the "My friend has been hacked " and phishing scam on the hotmail thingy. Other friends of hers did the same., and she did too.
This is going around and its a virus. Microsoft suggest changing passwords etc and make sure securities etc are up to date, and always report it the way i have said.

Thanks Skylark.

I've run the scan and it says there are no threats, so I've now changed my password to something really obscure, so hope that does the trick.

It said the e-mail had also been sent to one of my sons, so I've warned him not to open it. DiL says she also had a messages saying a couple of e-mails had been returned - but she hadn't sent them - so it looks like her account has definitely been hacked.

Can I still report it now that I've deleted the e-mail?

Spoke to DiL and apparently my son (her hubby) has received one too, so it looks like her contact list has been hit. They are going to report it to Hotmail.
