Does he manage home some weekends, or just at the end of term?

He does manage the odd weekend - he is only 2 hours away in Aberystwyth we are going next weekend to take things he has forgotten - he drove himself there - so we will see his room as well

Girlfriends are a great influence when it comes to tidying up - well, at least in the early days.

Thanks to everyone for the film recommendations Reach for the sky is one of my favourites! I love Douglas Bader, which i mentioned in the bus stop, with a "b" word in front of "love" Which is why I thought I'd been banned.. Turns out that wasn't why, it was an admin error Douglas Bader says "jolly good show" which has led me to adopt it as my catchphrase when congratulating the bus winner Please don't be mad, but I didn't like mrs doubtfire I do however love enchanted and enjoyed the wedding date All the films mentioned here that I haven't seen, I've added to my list thank you

She'll love you forever - she loves treats. Youngest son taught her to "play dead" for treats, when she was a puppy. So now when she hears us going into her biscuit tub, she happily lies on the floor and "dies".

Good morning everyone

I think that the weather in my part of the country today looks as if more rain is on the way, but not as bad as yesterday. Then from tomorrow onwards the weather gets noticeably warmer for a few days.

Summer, you would never have been banned for using that "b" word - I saw that someone else used the same word in the same context in a different thread on the same day as you, and guess who it was. I'll give you a clue - if she had banned you, she would have had to ban herself as well

Ha ha I love that bless.

Its a nice morning here and I had the loveliest talk last night with my dearest friend.  She is the dearest sweetest person you could ever hope to meet, to talk to her is the best tonic in the world. I wish you could all meet her.

A special for Ros, missing your son.

I thought of another film Summer I don't know whether you might have seen it already? The Notebook, its wonderful. I am sorry Stream is not pregnant, maybe next time.

A lovely link (warning it does take you to the Daily Mail site - I know some people on here don't like that newspaper but I do)

It is good to have friends like that

The Notebook sounds as if it is quite a moving love story.

That was a heartwarming story on the Mail, thank you

I haven't seen The Notebook yet but it sounds good. I  noticed it has James Garner in it - I love him. He was in one of my favourite films (with Sally Field), called Murphy's Romance. Sadly it was never released on DVD over here.

Like the story in the mail - a mother's love is a wonderful thing.

My Christmas Elf name is Bouncy Mistletoe

El Loro
afternoon oh I love this thread so much, what fun! My native American name is Nitika, which means angel of precious stones. I like it My elf name is Bouncy sparkly-toes El I think yours is the best I've heard so far, Bouncy Mistletoe Lol I didn't know Lori used the B word in a post too! If this were channel 4 we'd have been banned for sure! It is disappointing knowing that Stream isn't having puppies on this occasion but I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and I'm patient enough to wait. A dog will come to us as and when it's meant to Oh I love the notebook! Very good choice squiggle, I'd be thrilled if there were more films out there that good! Some of my favourites are: Catch me if you can The lake house Something's gotta give I also enjoyed Forrest gump and the curious case of Benjamin button, life story movies I like very much

Yogi I shall always think of you as Perkly Bing-A-Ling now

Summer I still love Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World as well, it always makes me laugh.

For my Photobook project I have been going through my box of photos, very very moving going through all the memories.  I am a 'memory hoarder' I still have an old school report, a piano playing certificate from when I was 10, cards that have been sent and funny little notes from my daughter when she was growing up.  Does anyone else collect similar trivia?

squiggle

Hi squiggle, i collect everything! Have my children,s first shoes, the outfits they came out of hospital with, the flowers i received i have pressed in a book. You name it i have it! Wouldnt swap them for the world!
It must be very emotional for you going thru all the stuff , but its your memories. No doubt you will have a wee cry , but it all adds up to the lovely lady you are now.

FM

Squiggle, I saw It's a Mad etc many many years ago with my parents and we all hated it so much that after about an hour (it's a very long film) we decided to give it up - we could see nothing funny about how greed corrupts, and it was sad to see how Spencer Tracy who had always struck us as inherently decent could lower himself to be in this. So we'll have to agree to disagree on this one

Squiggle, I still have all my sons' school reports (to their horror), the cards we received when they were born, certificates they got at school and their baby id bracelets from hospital. I am definitely a memory hoarder.

Yogi19

I have finished my book, Squiggle. So much for rationing myself to a few chapters each day.

I absolutely loved it - the setting, the characters and the story were great.

A really poignant and yet heart-warming and inspirational book, thank you for recommending it.

I have a pile of favourite books which I have read and reread, and Wish You Well is going into that pile.

There are days when I could happily unplug the phone.

Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
