Night everyone, sleep well, hugs for any night owls.

I think you were remarkably restrained.

Goodnight, sleep well, Squiggle.

Hi Ros, see you in the BB thread.

Yogi19

Hi, popped in to say goodnight x
I cut and dyed my daughter,s hair, it looks good , if i say so myself !
Watched The Body Farm for 20 mins then gave up. Acting bad, props bad, need i go on...just my opinion of course , each to our own
My daughter said at the beginning, i should have my living wall like that, red patterned, and layered.
What are we like ?
Anyway goodnight, sweet dreams

Evening/morning *collects night owl * thank you Leaves in return & wishes you all a good nights sleep Work was busier today yogi, not crazy busy but just pleasant thank you. I spent my free time researching ideas for mr summer's birthday next month and I bought him a pair of compact binoculars via the RSPB website- I could have got the same pair off amazon ÂĢ7.50 cheaper but RSPB donate their profits to the charity, and we love birds so i'm happy. It's probably easier to go directly to them if there are any faults too ooh pardon me Joyron & El I hope both of your test results are good Skylark i had to chuckle at you reminding your son who pays the electric bill it gave me a flashback or two Squiggle well done for sticking within you budget, it's not the easiest thing to do, especially when those yummy treats tempt you! I love the m&s sweet chilli & mango dipping sauce, it's delicious Signing out now sweet dreams

Good morning everyone

for everyone, but in particular for Poolshark who has had appalling news this morning.

I had been chatting with my brother on the phone and when I rang off, the Body Farm had already started so I saw a few minutes of it and decided I wasn't going to watch anymore.

It's a lovely sunny day here, a vast improvement over the past few days.

El Loro

Good morning everyone.

I've read Poolie's thread, El. I can't imagine what his poor family are going through today, Such a shocking thing to happen.

Summer, I'm sure Mr Summer will love his binoculars. I get so much pleasure from watching the birds in my garden.

Last time we went to Berwick, I saw a Treecreeper for the first time - and Mr Yogi chuckled at how excited I was. When we go away for breaks, I always take one of my birdbooks and my binoculars with me.

No rain or wind, atm. In fact, the sun was shining when I woke up. It's clouding over now, but it has got to be better than the last two days. Hope it's better where you are.

My ignorance of birds is such that I hadn't even heard of a treecreeper let alone see one, though it's quite possible I have seen one but not known what it was

El Loro

Good morning everyone.    The sun is shining and it's not as windy as previous days.

What terrible news about Poolshark's family member.  Terrible things keep happening in this country.

I've started clearing and tidying in preparation for my penfriend's visit next Monday.  Why does there always seem to be so much to do!!  Will be back later.

This is a treecreeper, El. They can be quite hard to spot because they tend to blend in with the trees.

Good morning, Joyron.

Is your penfriend actually staying at your house, or is more of a passing visit?

I get a wee bit anxious when I have people to stay. I hope you are more relaxed about things.

Good morning everyone, I haven't yet read Poolie's thread but I will in a bit.  A headline caught my eye as I was looking for this thread about the death of a relative in Ilford is that the one because that's where we came from.

I spotted a treecreeper in our garden a couple of years ago they are fascinating to watch because that's exactly what they do they creep up the tree from the bottom to the top in a spiral action, evidently they can't creep down so they start again at the bottom on another tree, fascinating.

I hope all goes well with the preparations for your penfriend's visit Joyron, I am sure it will be lovely meeting up.

It is, I'm sorry to say. The relative was murdered whilst sitting in his car by an apparent stranger who wanted to steal his car.

good morning, I slept in so late that I've long since missed the bus! My late nights have obviously caught up with me It looks sunny out I hope you've all got better, calmer weather too It's really shocking about poolshark's cousin what a terrible world we live in lately, so violent and cruel I'll pop in to that thread next Yogi, I saw a tree creeper last year! Mr summer pointed it out while we were out walking, I didn't even know what one was until that moment. It was fascinating and we stopped to watch it for several minutes, it worked it way up a tree, dropped to the ground and started over it almost danced up the tree, it looked happy! I'm glad you like your birds too, it helps convince me further that mr summer will like his gift

My penfriend Barbara and her husband Rick come from Colchester in Connecticut and I live about ten miles from Colchester in Essex.  This will be their fourth visit to us, and yes they are staying at our house.  They will be here from 19th to 29th September inclusive.  Unfortunately we have not been able to visit them because I will not fly!!  I did try and tempt hubby by saying we could do a two way transatlantic cruise but I'm afraid he didn't go for that one!!

I have been corresponding with Barbara for nearly 52 years, originally with the old snail's pace airmail letters but obviously now by email.  We both got married in the same year.  Both have two sons around the same ages.  Both husbands were President of their local Lions Club in the same year (twice).  Barbara is a legal secretary and that was my occupation before I gave up working.  There are so many similarities between us people often say that is "spooky".

We are having a three day break in London this time round and plan to visit some of the places we have not been to before.  We also have best seats in the house for "Les Miserables", which I'm really looking forward to.  On previous visits we took a day trip to Edinburgh on the train (such a long day but they really enjoyed it and loved their visit to the castle).  We have also visited Normandy and the D Day Beaches, which Rick particularly enjoyed as he was in the forces previously.

I hope this hasn't bored you but thought you might like to know some of the background to my friendship with Barbara.

My brother lives in Gidea Park which can't be too far away from your brother.

I enjoyed hearing about your penfriend Joyron, its lovely to have a friendship that close and enduring.  I envy your the tickets for Les Mis, I have seen the DVD but never the live show.

Not that far away, a bit over 4 miles to the west. He seems to be on the border between Ilford and Romford.

El Loro

I think it's great that your friendship with your penfriend has lasted 52 years, Joyron.

I hope you tell us all about your night out at Les Miserable, I'm sure it will be wonderful. BTW, I'd keep mentioning the idea of a transatlantic cruise, you might get Mr Joyron at a weak moment.

Summer, glad I helped to convince you about the binoculars. I'm sure Mr Summer will love them but if he doesn't, you can always blame me.

Nooooooooo, not a pancake ban.

Erm, the diet has been suspended for the moment.

I'm not being really bad, but just not as good as I should be.

I lived in Colchester when I got married.

Over 20 years ago I bought a motoring atlas of Great Britain. I was looking through it and discovered that there was another place called Cheltenham near Ebbw Vale, It is unlikely that you will be able to find it on any modern atlas and I don't think you will be able to find it on Google maps. But for some reason I thought if I could find some reference to it and I have succeeded. It is no longer called Cheltenham and is now referred to as Clydach North. Some info on this  It's nice to be able to prove that I wasn't dreaming.

I don't think that I will go there though to do my weekly shopping

Now that there are so many Satnavs, I wonder how many people still use maps to find their way around.

Mr Yogi was in the forces when we got married, and was based in Colchester for a couple of years. I lived down there and worked in Ipswich for a while. I really liked my time in Colchester.

I love lamb chops - so much nicer than pork chops, IMO.

Summer, it was a school friend of mine who said "I have a friend of my penfriend who wants someone to write to"  that started it all off.  We have been very close friends ever since.  We call each other and speak on the phone when something happens within our families, ie accidents and illness.  She was a great help to me when No.2 son was diagnosed with cancer (from which he is thankfully currently in remisssion - 5 years next spring).

I don't know of many relationships which have stood the test of time over 52 years but I'm sure there is someone out there that can better my relationship.  No worries!!

It is such a small world we live in Summer.  Squiggle comes from the Essex area too, although not as close as you being born in Colchester.  Don't suppose it was the Colchester Maternity Hospital where you were born??  That's where my two sons made their entrance into this world.

Yogi, I knew you were in this area when you got married.  So sad that we never got to meet up in "real" life.  Don't worry about the diet taking second place after all you have been through this week.  The pounds will come off over the next few weeks.

Probably won't be back again tonight but will catch up with you all some time tomorrow, after my hairdresser has been to make me look "presentable" for my guests.
