Me too Yogi.  Every series has been better than the last, and SO true to what's going on in this country despite the fact that the programmes are made months in advance of when we view them!!  I really, really hope that there is a happy ending for Harry, but sadly I fear that won't happen.

Well, I like a happy ending, so I shall keep everything crossed - and if there isn't a happy ending, I shall cry buckets.

Had a lovely afternoon and the book went down very well with the ladies.  I am going to check out ordering either 75 or 100 it depends on the discount for the larger quantitiy.  We have potentially sold all of the first 50.  We had nibbles today and one of them was a fatless sponge the recipe of which is in the book, it was fluffy and gorgeous.

It is a shame about programmes clashing and I am glad that those who want to watch both have recorders to be able to record both.  I cannot comment on Spooks as I have never watched it, but in support of you I too hope that Harry is given a happy ending

squiggle

So glad all has gone well with the book Squiggle.  You really deserve for this book to be success bearing in mind the work you have put into it.  I don't suppose you could give me a "heads up" on something I could make for my penfriend and her husband who are coming from America for a two week visit on Monday, 19th September??

I'm surprised you have not watched Spooks Squiggle.  It has been a brilliant programme from start to finish (hopefully).  I really, really want Harry to have a happy ending but you know what these writers are like.  They burst our "happy" bubble right at the end.  Hopefully not this time.  I will be keeping every finger and toe crossed.

Joyron

Squiggle, well done on a successful afternoon with the book

Thanks for your comment about Spooks I thought you probably didn't watch it as I don't think you particularly like thrillers. I would expect you would prefer Downton Abbey. I would watch Downton Abbey, but as I can't stand Julian Fellowes who writes every episode, it's a non-starter for me. He wrote the film Gosford Park which is also set in a country house showing the interplay between Upstairs and Downstairs. I saw it at the strong recommendation of the previous vicar at my church, and I loathed it.

El Loro

I remembered that you don't like Julian Fellowes and hated Gosford Park EL   I did enjoy Gosford Park on many levels, the wonderful portrayal of Ivor Novello, the completely stupid snobbery of the aristocrats and their ignorance of the genius playing the piano in their midst.  The total incompetence of the police etc.  But if you could bear to watch one episode of the first series of Downton I have the feeling its something that maybe you would like.

Collects night owl thank you I've been catching up with my bestie on the phone tonight, I asked her to get a webcam so I can skype her when the baby has arrived El, I loathed gosford park too and I really thought I'd love it after seeing the trailer! Glad everyone enjoyed the CBB finale Squiggle, any cake with blueberries in is a winner for me Sweet dreams all

Good morning everyone

At present it's dry here but very cloudy. Yogi, your greenhouse could be in for a real battering on Monday/Tuesday as it is expected to be very windy - 50 mph is quite possible in your area along with heavy rain. It's expected to be very windy everywhere, the worst being the North and North-West of Scotland. Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but it's better to be warned in advance. It's to do with Hurricane Katia heading this way:

El Loro

Good morning everyone.    It's grey and miserable here at the moment but at least no rain; not yet anyway!!

Squiggle, I would appreciate it if you could email me the recipe for the fatless sponge as I would like to have a go at making that (if I get time).  Does it keep okay or is it best eaten fresh from the oven?  I'm hoping to make one of my famous Cherry and Almond fruit cakes as I can make that early and it seems to improve with age!!  I'm really looking forward to trying all the recipes in the book.  Hubby is a real cake lover.

Have a great day everyone whatever you get up to.  Hope to be back later.

Joyron

Good morning everyone. Wet but not windy, up here.

El and Squiggle, I hope those winds decide to bypass my little bit of Scotland - the last time, it cost me ÂĢ75 for replacement panels.

Joyron, I never need to worry if cakes will keep, they never last long enough in my house.

Hi Summer, I hope you don't have to work too hard today

Sorry, I missed you last night, Velvet.

I really want some cake now Yogi I hope the winds bypass your part of Scotland *crosses fingers* I'm having a much better morning, my colleague has turned up, somewhat sheepishly at first, but seems to be making an improved effort with the customers. I looked at her directly in the eyes this morning when she tried to feed me her (obviously rehearsed) sob story as to why she hasn't been reliable lately. Hopefully she knows that while I'm here to listen & support, I also don't believe her lies

Well done Summer, its bad enough that she let you down without getting away with feeling she has pulled the wool over your eyes.

Thanks Joyron, enjoy!

Summer, I agree with squiggle, you need to keep an eye on your colleague as she needs to play fair.

I think there's some way to go yet before they get to the level where they could be said to match a conversation between humans.

She'll be less likely to do it again, now that she knows you have her sussed.

Good evening everyone.    Hope you have all had a good day.  Won't be about much over the weekend but will be here when I can.  Have a great weekend, whatever you are doing.

Squiggle, just as an aside, from the recipe you sent me you must have had your hands full turning cups into grams and ounces so that anyone can cope with the recipes!!

It was a nightmare Joyron, and thank you for noticing because not many people will. What most people won't realise (and I didn't until I came to do this) is that a cup of an ingredient will vary wildly depending upon the density of the ingredient, for instance a cup of flour will weigh about 5oz whereas a cup of sugar will weigh about 7oz

Have a good weekend.
