What happens with some of the first asparagus grown in the west of England

Back in 2018 I posted this here:

Many years ago probably the mid 70s, I was at the staff Christmas meal when we witnessed true gluttony. A man, almost certainly the hotel owner, came into the room and sat down at a table by himself. He then proceeded to devour what was provided to him before leaving the room.

I haven't mentioned what he ate but before I do, here's a picture to give you some idea as to size.

The food consisted entirely of buttered asparagus

Slim, I haven't spotted anything on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week of interest that I haven't mentioned before.

Film4 is showing "The Caine Mutiny" (1954) (Humphrey Bogart) tomorrow afternoon at 1.20pm and again on Thursday morning at 11am. Worth  watching if you haven't seen it before. Set during WW2, a new captain  (Bogart) takes over command of a small minesweeper, eventually a couple of senior officers take over command and then face court martial.
Although there's some war violence, that's minimal. Film is mainly a character study and a military courtroom drama so has a U certificate,
