I'm quite surprised at a couple of them being American musicals...'Oliver' for one, with it having a very British casting

I agree with you about "Oliver! " The imdb page for the film has the country of origin as both the UK and the USA which is why my search included it.
British cast, British director, the production company was Romulus which I know was British. I note that that the film was distributed by Columbia worldwide so that might be the reason.

"Goodbye Mr Chips", although a British story and cast, was an American film and was directed by the American Herbert Ross,.
Same with "My Fair Lady", an American film directed by the American George Cukor.

Good morning everyone

Raining here until some time in the afternoon. Forecast to become less wet from tomorrow but temperatures starting to come down. Met Office expect temperatures to become colder than average for January for the rest of the month though drier than recently.

I hope everyone has a good day

Amber warning for wind issued this morning - yet another named storm (Henk). I had rung a client earlier and she was coming here some time this afternoon to collect her papers and accounts. When I heard of the warning I rang her and said I would bring the documents to her straightaway which I've done. 50-60 mph gusts forecast this afternoon and the client is going in for another leg operation in a few days. So not the sort of weather she should be going out in.

At the rate storms are being named, the Met Office could run out of their list of names before the end of August

Very windy here El

It's getting harder to define where one storm finshes & another starts, they're coming so close together

Stay safe everyone

Due to the recent rain, here are a number of roads closed here. The A417 to Maisemore is (which seems to be the most likely A road to be closed as it's close by the river Severn.
The A38 from Longford roundabout to Coombe Hill is also closed. That's less common but can happen when there's been considerable amount of rain.
Other roads closed but those are the two main ones,

Let's hope it's just the roads and not people's homes that get flooded El

It's bucketing down here atm

I hope so too, Slim The roads which are closed are on the recognised flood plain area. The rivers Severn and Avon (the Stratford one) merge at Tewkesbury, The rainwater which has gone into those rivers further north eventually get down here and when there's been a lot, the river breaks its banks and gets on to the fields and can get as far as the A38. Tends to be gardens which get flooded though can get into homes.

Dry here at present, but rain is expected later though not as much as you're getting.

Yep it's downpours galore here today, but looks like we're having a dry spell as of tomorrow, for several days...so they say

BBC article today re the flooding in Gloucestershire:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-...cestershire-67879868
Mentions that some homes have been flooded,

There's a short clip near the beginning showing the flooding at Maisemore.

Under the heading "Be extremely careful" is a photo of the flooding on the A38 in Longford. Doesn't look from that one that any of the houses in Longford have been flooded.
This isn't on a scale of the flooding back in 2007. A link to a photo of the A38 then which was taken a few houses away from the one in the BBC article:

Horrible for them El

Our river Exe has broken it's banks again ...not damage done as far as I have heard.

That's round the corner from us...

And GWR have told people not to travel as some of the rail lines are under water....

I hope your river doesn't get any higher, Slim

It's GRW here as well

BBC article on local flooding now amended to say that Tewkesbury is surrounded by flood water:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-...cestershire-67879868
The photo at the beginning shows Tewkesbury Abbey and other buildings, Looks quite dramatic but isn't exceptional. The abbey is on a small hill and the chances of flooding getting into the abbey are remote.
