Good morning everyone

I hope everyone is having a good Christmas

Fairish weather here today ahead of tomorrow's weather event. In this part of the country, forecast for gusts of wind in the 40s from 7am to 1 pm, quieter for a time then resuming from 6pm throughout the night and much of Thursday to 2 pm. That's a total of 30 hours.

I hope everyone has a good day

Windy conditions are expected to be the same here Wednesday and Thursday and possibly Friday too El.

Cheltenham win again (they won on Saturday) and have gone up 3 places in the table. Still in the relegation zone.
22 games played in the league so far this season.
First 11 games a total of 1 point
Second 11 games a total of 18 points.
That's as a result of a change of manager.
So there are glimmers of hope from what had seemed to be no hope.

Good morning everyone

Raining here and forecast to become windy. Mild for time of year in double figures. Looks as if temperatures will be going down and, after the next few days, could be many weeks before back in double figures.

I hope everyone has a good day and take care if you venture out

Morning El

Already wet & windy here

Good morning Buddies

Wet and very windy here. Temperature isn’t too bad

Enjoy your day everyone

Just popped out to rescue a couple of black wheelies for a couple of houses on the other side of the road which were emptied earlier and, because of the gusts, had fallen over on the pavement.

The food caddies were also due to be emptied today. No one has put them out, not surprisingly

I'd been assuming that the small appliance recycling was more widespread than it's here

We don't have such a scheme here El....Our council allows us, I think it's 3 free collections of household goods per year, or something like that...

I'm pleased to see more charity shops taking donations of electrical goods these days...there was a time when none would.

My council's page on what electrical items can be collected (such items need to be put on top of the green recycling box):

Items placed out as part of the small electrical items collection must be smaller than W:17 x H:10 x D:12 inches / W:43 x H:25 x D:30 centimetres

Yes please:

  • Kitchen appliances (for example toasters, kettles, food blenders, coffee machines, digital scales)
  • Home appliances (such as irons, fans, radios, lamps, clocks, DVD players)
  • Personal care/grooming appliances (including shavers, electric toothbrushes, hair dryers/curlers/straighteners)
  • Small electrical DIY tools
  • Desktop fan
  • Cameras
  • Games consoles
  • Tablets/e-readers
  • Laptops/ laptop chargers
  • Computer keyboard and mouse
  • Small printer/ shredder
  • Christmas lights, fairy lights, solar-powered lights (LED only)
  • Children’s electronic toys (such as remote control car)
  • Plug in/digital clocks
  • Fire / CO2 alarms
  • Watches
  • Calculators
  • Torches
  • Remote controls
  • Radios
  • Mini hi-fis
  • MP3 player
  • Cassette players
  • Small sewing machine
  • Wires, plugs and chargers
  • Mini home foot spa
  • Vapes (do not place these inside your recycling box - they must be on the lid of your green recycling box)

Please remember:

If your item such as a power tool has an easily detachable battery then please remove it before putting out for collection and dispose of the battery safely.

If the item has a light bulb please remove before recycling.

For safety reasons we would not take a separate part of the item that is glass/ china or that may break and cause a potential safety risk to the collection staff.

Make sure you have removed personal data from laptops and tablets etc.
