I hope it all goes well for launch night, I will catch up tomorrow, but early start and all that
Evening all.
El,( I think) I have followed your instructions re the autumnal pic - not sure if it has worked. If it continues to be a problem, I can delete it.
Going to watch The CBB Launch.
I hope it all goes well for launch night, I will catch up tomorrow, but early start and all that
Hope it all goes well tomorrow, Squiggle.
Big hugs for you and your grandson.
Summer.
Well, I've watched them going in - there's a few interesting characters.
Won't say any more until you've caught up, Squiggle.
Signing out for tonight.
Hugs for the night owls.
Good morning everyone, quick post to bump the thread before I dash off. Nice of you to think of me Yogi but do feel free to natter away about the launch, I will catch up later and if I hear some news it just makes it more interesting to watch later. Have a good day
Good morning everyone
Squiggle, I hope all goes well this morning for you and your grandson
Yogi, I'm not sure about your picture that it has worked. For some reason the height of the picture in the Appearance tab has been left blank, normally it does. I think you may need to re-edit it again but this time, besides the 620 in the first box put 465 in the second box. That will keep the picture proportions the same. Of course we are on to a new page, so it's not critical.
I had a nice time yesterday evening. The Summer Supper was transferred to the church hall because of the weather and because it was not a warm day - my central heating came on yesterday evening and again this morning. I sat with a couple I know and one of their friends was also there. It turned out that she was the guest speaker and was representing the charity who gets the money raised from the supper. It's a local charity with voluntary counsellors and offers help for people on low incomes who cannot afford private counsellors. It receives no grants from councils and is wholly reliant on donations and fund raising events.
Good morning everyone.Weather dry and bright atm.
Squiggle, you and your grandson are in my thoughts, hope all goes well.
El, I've tried to change the dimensions as per your instructions. Not sure that it has worked.
If it hasn't, I'll nip back and delete the pic - everyone has already seen it, so no worries.
Summer, thank you for breakfast, delicious as usual.
El, that sounds like a very worthy charity (I know most are), which probably doesn't get a lot of publicity. I'm sure they appreciated the donation from your church.
Yogi, thanks for that - only Joyron can confirm whether that has worked or not as that page was fine for the rest of us.
I see in my spam messages that I have got an email from the New York State Police telling me that I have been issued with a traffic ticket. As I know that that is impossible I checked up on it and it is a scam. It's not from the police and they have advised anyone who gets this email, not to open it but to delete it as it contains a virus.
Thank you all for you good luck messages. I am home safely, my grandson was at the hospital by 7.30 and I would think has had the operation by now but I haven't heard. I will let you know when I do.
Thanks for the breakfast Summer, glad you enjoyed your evening EL and I will hopefully catch up with the launch whilst having lunch.
Well that spam email EL whatever will they try next? I had some guy emailing me last week and would he give up NO! I must have deleted about 20 spam emails, all without opening one of course.
Morning everyone xx
Thanks for that El. Talking about scams, i had a call last night from an Asian gent called Simon, saying he was calling from the CAB, he could reconcile all my debts to one payment plan, apparently ,and set up a direct debit, all i needed to do was to give him my bank details and he would kindly do the rest . I asked him if he could kindly fix my Microsoft problems too while he was on. He hung up. These calls are becoming more and more a nuisance. I would report it, if i knew who to report it too, as no phone number, just came up as Out of Area. What really annoyed me was he started off telling me my name and postcode...."you are Mrs ....and your postcode is .....
Hi squiggle, hope your grandson is fine and all goes well for him x
Glad your supper went well El , very worthwhile cause x
I see Yogi been causing bother, worth the watching that one

The likeyhood is that many of these calls are from abroad which makes it very difficult to stop them. I found this on the genuine CAB's website as to the sort of scam yours might have been.
Yes El, its a long those lines, glad CAB are aware of it, although it must be difficult for them to do anything about it. I imagine they have posters up in their offices. But if people HAVE contacted the CAB and are in debt and get a phone call from these scammers, how are they to know it isnt a genuine phone call ? Maybe they should set up a password or something for their clients.
Very sad for people who have been scammed
I try not answer Out of Area calls, but having answered a call with this up on my phone, only last week, i was surprised to hear it was The Child Benefit office, regarding my change of circumstances due to my son being no longer entitled to it as he was working, and no longer in full time education. A lovely lady just checking before she cancelled it. So some Government offices are calling this way.
Oh and meant to say, they are still paying the Child Benefit every week into my bank!! Its mounting up and rather tempting to spend it
hi everybody just popping in squiggle - hope your grandson is OK + there are so many scammers around at the mo - - they can sound so plausible
for everybody
Hi squiggle, hope your grandson is fine and all goes well for him x
Glad your supper went well El , very worthwhile cause x

I can cause chaos in an empty house. I've deleted the pic, as everyone has already seen it.
The spammers and scammers are getting on my nerves. I don't really know what can be done to stop them as most of them originate from abroad, but I know what I'd like to do to them.
Hi Ros, nice to see you in here in the daytime.
Squiggle, have the hospital told you when to call back, to find out how your grandson is?
Trust you Yogi that's all I'll say
My grandson's dad has phoned to say he's heard from him. They have free phone calls between Vodafones friends and family so it costs him nothing to phone. He's a bit groggy still, his arm is plastered and in a sling, he said he could not move his arm but that's probably down to it being in a sling. He hasn't walked yet so we won't know yet about the pain in his hip but all's well so far. He will call back to let me know again later and then its how quickly he can be discharged because he is some way from home and with no visitors. I am hoping to arrange the Patient Line TV and games for him once I know more details.
hi squiggle, i bet you are relieved now that you have heard he is out of theatre and back on the ward. Thats always the worrying part, isnt it .
I hope he recovers well x
Have a wee sit down with a cuppa now and relax a bit
Rosgirl, with the number of phone calls I get from scammers I automatically put up my guard whenever I get a phone call so I doubt if they would ever succeed in conning me.
Skylark, I wouldn't spend that money as they will eventually write to you and tell you to repay any overpayment to them.
Yogi, at least we know that between us we can cause devastation on this forum (the sound of maniacal laughter).
Squiggle, that's good to know that your grandson has had his surgery and is now on the road to recovery.

It certainly is Skylark, I am shattered, not used to getting up so early but so pleased that he didn't 'bottle it' and hopefully can get it properly healed now. You just keep thinking worst case scenarios which is silly I know but I am relieved he is back on the ward now. Now he will be itching to get home again

What can I say, it's a talent.
Excellent news that your grandson is back from theatre. Hopefully his recovery will be a speedy one.
I'll bet you feel wrung out now.

Ha ha ha, we keep them on their toes, El.
My brother will be arriving shortly for a visit - he's going back to London on Sunday morning so it's quite a short visit.
I'll pop in here when I can to keep an eye out on Yogi but I can't guarantee that she will behave . Have a great weekend whatever you are doing
I'll bet you feel wrung out now.
I sure do Yogi - ooh he's just phoned, he's worried now about not being able to feel his arm but I have reassured him (not that I know) that its all normal and just pumped full of anaesthetics and all will be well. Just going to phone and get the TV put on for him.

He will appreciate that, it can be pretty boring in hospital.

Yes especially as he will have no visitors, and my dad was very strict, if someone is in hospital you are always there for them and I'm still the same now, but we are all so far away.

It can be so difficult for relatives to visit when the hospital isn't nearby.
Do you have any idea how long he is likely to be in?
He's hoping desperately that they will let him go tomorrow, but I know how hospitals can be at weekends. All the staff have so far seemed to agree with him that it might be tomorrow, I do hope so for his sake.

I'll keep everything crossed for him.
Thank you Yogi

Yes i know its a worry, but the worst is over. I hope he gets home soon. Get yourself settled and have a rest, its been a long day for you . He is in safe hands
Have a nice time with your brother El, hope the weather is good for you.
No i wont be spending the Child Benefit , i have written to them again (find it easier writing than phoning) telling them to stop sending me money !!
Signing off early again. Good news is the surgeon has told him he should be able to go home in the morning He says his hip is a little painful and he has a drain in it but he is a young fit man so hopefully he should heal nicely. I'm tired and I have to be off again tomorrow so I'm going up to read early.
Enjoy your visit with your brother EL.
Hope you all enjoy tonight's episode, hugs to all the night owls
Thats good he is going home x
Goodnight squiggle , take care
Yay for Squiggle's grandson!
Hope you get a good night's rest, Squiggle.
Hi Skylark, are you watching CBB tonight?
