El, I can’t see Cheltenham or West Brom get a good result today

Moonie, Cheltenham has appointed a new manager though h's not in charge until next week. Darrell Clarke does have more managerial experience than his predecessor including getting a couple of the clubs he was at promoted. He'll need to try to get the players to believe in themselves.

He needs Robert Halpern         Pretty funny at the time, probably illegal now.

Seriously, I wish Cheltenham well - they are what you call football supporters. Football is nothing like it was twenty years ago, never mind fifty or sixty. They are all flashy, no-taste pre- Madonnas these days with super injunction orders.

You know the rest - hope all are well and cosy

All's well here, Velvet

Back in the 60s ans 70s there was a local hypnotist called Henry Blythe. There was the time when Gloucester City AFC called on his services to see if he could get them to improve. I don't think it worked
(there's a clip of that on the BFI player but it's not worth watching)

Slim, little of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week.
There's a minor British 1939 film "Mrs Pym of Scotland Yard" on Tuesday at 14.30. Back in the 1930s there was a series of detective stories with Mrs Pym getting involved in mystery murders which was written by Nigel Morland who adapted one of these for this film, Mrs Pym is an eccentric detective. Film was intended to be the first of a series of films but that didn't happen, In the supporting cast was Nigel Patrick as a reporter and this was his film debut.

Showers started here first thing

Nowhere near like the showers New York have been having though

Looks like a scene from a disaster movie....

More rain there than what happened in Gloucestershire back in 2007. Other counties were hit as well. I remember seeing a news item at the time where the reporter was in a helicopter flying over the Severn in Gloucestershire. He was commenting on the extent of the floods. He was saying that he had previously commentated on major flooding in other countries and said that he never expected to be reporting on similar floods in this country.
He was wrong to say that. The local flooding was dreadful but not on the scale of those which have been reported,

It's upsetting for all concerned when flooding happens, devastating in some cases

I know someone, used to work with him, who lives nearby. The road he lives on was one of the worst affected roads back in 2007. it's on the flood plain and is not that far from the river Severn. His house was flooded and he and his wife had to live in a caravan for a good year whilst their house was repaired. They still live there even though they know the house could get flooded again.

Good luck with that El, I hope it doesn’t cost you a fortune

Thanks Slim and Moonie
The belts themselves aren't that expensive, the cost is more in the labour involved.

What will be expensive is that the clutch will need to be replaced some time next year. Car is 18 years old and the clutch is the original one.
