The Hawaiian alphabet has just 13 letters, the 5 vowels and H, K, L, M, N, P and W. They also categorise an okina as a consonant. That looks like an apostrophe. For instance the Hawaiian spelling of Hawaii is Hawai'i.

Wow, that's not many!
Do they also have fewer words?

I had a go at learning the Cyrillic alphabet when I was spending a fair bit of time in Bulgaria....that's a difficult one to learn

I would think that the average number of words used by a Hawaiian would be similar to that of someone speaking English - that's between 20,000 and 35,000 words.

At least it's called Cyrillic after Cyril rather than his brother Methodius

that was interesting if  wow and confusing at times-thankyou EL

There's a thread in the lounge section of the forum which ended a long time ago. Replies were made substituting an f with a s and vice versa so sort of referring to the f/s bit of that clip. Came to an end when real life affecting the father of one of the posters was far too serious to continue such a frivolous thread.

Joan Crawford

She's not as graceful as Ginger Rogers is she El....
and I have to say, the singing didn't impress neither

If you wanted to you could watch "Dancing Lady" on youtube (not free). Although Joan Crawford was top billed, Fred Astaire was not. The leading man was Clark Gable,
In the cast were also Franchot Tone, and May Robson.
Also Ted Healey with three assistants - those three would become known as the Three Stooges.
So quite an assortment

I think in this case El, I'll save my money

A month ago I mentioned that the 1948 film "The Red Shoes" would get a cinema re-release later this year. As I suspected, the BBFC have reclassified this from the U certificate it has had for the last 75 years to a PG certificate.

Incidentally, the BBFC has re-rated the1993 film "Jurassic Park" from PG to a 12 certificate.

I wonder what it was that made them reclassify it after 75years

Yes I get that, but why now...why are the children this year more precious than previous years?
Is reclassification only done now and again?

BBFC carries out reviews of their classification guidelines in consultation with the public as to public expectations. They've been doing that for some time but I don't think they did back in the days when they were the British Board of Film Censors rather than of Film Censors  back in 1984. Presumably those consultations have had concerns raised by parents. The BBFC would say that any reclassification has been as a result of those concerns (outside changes in the law which wouldn't be of any relevance re "The Red Shoes")

BBFC would generally be looking at existing film classifications either when a film is to be re-released in cinemas, released or re-released on DVD/Blu-ray or can be done by the likes of Netflix if they are intending to make a film or programme available. In exceptional circumstances they can make a sudden reclassification decision say if there's been a change in the law. In the case of "The Red Shoes" it's because it's to be re-released in cinemas later this year.
