Many years ago, the firm I worked for had a client whose offices was in a what would have originally been a house built in Victorian times. We were working in a room up some old stairs. It was in the winter months. It was a Monday morning. The heating had been off throughout the weekend. So the room we were in was close to freezing, So we worked with our coats on with only a cup of coffee to warm us up. Room got warmer as the morning went on.
That would have been in the days before workplace regulations came in but that wouldn't have made any difference as we weren't employees of that client.
