Slim, on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week, the one film of note is next Sunday at 19.00. The French classic comedy "Jour de Fête" (1949) which was Jacques Tati's first feature film (director, writer and lead actor). If you liked "Monsieur Hulot's Holiday" the other week, you'll like this one. He's a country postman inspired by a documentary to emulate the high-speed deliveries of the American postal service.

Good morning Buddies

A cool, dull start to the day here. Already had a light shower. More rain to come, some of it heavy. Oh joy

Enjoy your day everyone

The weather recording station about a mile away from here has 73 mm of rain so far this month which is already over the average for the whole of July. At least we're not getting temperatures in the 40s

Trailer of a 1957 Italian film called "Nights of Cabiria" which was directed by Federico Fellini and starred Giulietta Masina:

It's regarded as one of Fellini's best films getting an Oscar for best foreign language film, It's considered by critics to be a much better film than Bob Fosse's musical adaption of it - "Sweet Charity" which is being repeated tonight on BBC Four.
