Yogi, I see you have resorted to feng shui techniques by lying on your bed in a particular position to keep the charger working, your position is acting to transmit yang forces to counteract the yin forces in the charger thus keeping it working

 

I started on my lemon drizzle cake yesterday evening. I thought this is a bit odd, there's no icing on top and the cake was very squidgy to the touch. It was in a foil container and it was obvious that I would have to spoon it out rather than just slice it, so I started at the top and there was no lemony taste to the sponge. And lower down I could see that the cake was red, and when I tasted it, it was plum and there were plum stones. The cake had transformed itself into a plum charlotte . It's nice enough but not what I was expecting.

 

Yogi, I was doing my post at the same time as yours so I hadn't seen that your charger had arrived - that must be a huge reiief for you

I think you bought Lemon Surprise Cake - the surprise was there wasn't any lemon in it.

Plum Charlotte sounds tasty though (but they ought to have removed the stones).

It is the main thing Skylark and the wee one loves all of you, so important to maintain that family feeling.  My grandsons' other grandmother disappoints me a little, she has two small granddaughters now and so the boys seem to have disappeared off her radar.  I am sure she loves them but I wish she would help them out a bit and just be there for them.  I do my best but I can't make up for two grandfathers who have died and her.

A good idea I think Squiggle I hope your cough is easing Skylark how very frustrating about the other grandmother, she should respect the parents wishes as well as the need to keep the child to it's regular routine! El I had to chuckle about your lemon drizzle cake, I hope the plum Charlotte was very nice- but I know when I've got my heart set on a certain taste, I'm disappointed with anything else! Yesterday I popped out for some scrambled egg on toast for lunch, I really fancied it, but it came out on White bread, I'd asked for brown. Silly I know, but it wasn't the same.. And I didn't dare to send it back either

As for the splinter, dr summer had a very good attempt at removing it, but like myself, find it disintegrates so there's nothing to get a grip on to pull it out. I'm trying soaking it. It doesn't hurt though, it feels like a hang nail, and after hearing ros's story, I'm not overly worried about it

Summer, there's a huge difference between scrambled egg on brown toast, and scrambled egg on white toast, and I would always prefer the brown toast option. I only eat brown bread, so when I have to have white, it tastes just not right to me.

Summer if you dont have time to pop into the nurse, try some Magnesium Sulphate paste, which you can get in most chemists . Obviously you wont be able to put it on at work, but when you get home. Put some on a plaster and leave overnight. It will "draw " out the splinter and any infection too that may be there x   (its usually sold in a little white pot )

I know Skylark, she's not a bad person, in fact she's lovely but as I say she has 4 grandchildren and the 2 boys are now not on her high priority list.  They love her a lot, they are good caring boys, but I just wish she would, you know, send some money on their birthdays instead of just a card.  Phone them and maybe invite them to stay, I don't think lack of money is the problem just thoughtlessness.

^^^^ I can recommend Magnesium Sulphate, it worked wonders when I had an allergic reaction to a wasp sting and my finger blew up like a balloon.

I have seen how that type of thoughlessness and favouritism can hurt children.

Magnesium Sulphate!  That's the one, I can never remember the name and you can't wander into the chemist and ask for the drawing cream in a little pot

Good evening all.    Sorry I've not been about but hubby is at home a lot more at present and I doubt I'll be here much at all!!  Hubby does not approve of my internet buddies so I try and keep out of the threads when he is around.  He just does not get the fact that I enjoy having some contact with others outside of our family circle!!!

My dad has called me Yogi ever since I was a toddler. It is in reference to Yogi Bear, because he sometimes calls me "Bear" as well. I have no idea why and neither does he.

Joyron please do your best to snatch the odd moment here with us.  You know we would miss you if you didn't.  We might not physically be round your house but we are real people, real friends and we do care about you

 

As for the future of this thread, well for my two pennorth I don't see why we have to alter.  We are a group of Buddies, we like to meet up with a natter and even if we have to go in search of the thread to bump it some mornings well we've done that before now as well What does everyone else think?

good morning lovely buddies Squiggle those are fantastic pictures thank you what a lovely cheerful post to see this morning. I have no intention of leaving this thread with BB returning, I think we will out live many of the new threads that we'll inevitably have to search through to find ourselves and don't forget, I've my iPhone at my side constantly- I'll bump the thread as often as I can to make it easier for you all to find Joyron, I do hope that you will manage to pop in from time to time if you can, we'll be here
