A hack attack El?

Who knows
The email browser seems to be now available but is not functioning properly. So no new messages in the inbox since 10pm yesterday evening.  So no point trying any website which sends an email message to you as part of the log in security checks.
No guarantee that sending emails will get sent on a timely basis.

You’d think they would have sorted it by now

God a few more emails arrive but some of them are repeats of ones I had already received. I've seen comments by some people saying they've had hundreds of repeated emails

Good grief

But I got the email with your quote above 9 minutes after you posted it.

and this one 7 hours after you posted it.
Virgin seems to be churning these emails out in no particular order

Talk about slowcoaches

My email browser seems to be OK at present. Some people still saying they have problems with either duplicated emails or missing folders.Although I did get some duplications, there haven't been any further ones, all my folders are as normal. It's possible that the people experiencing problems may have several email addresses with Virgin , it's possible that they may be using a different email browser to Virgin's own and that the folders relate to those browsers.

Thanks Moonie, so far today there haven't been any problems .
My guess is that one of the email servers in the chain of servers used failed and lost the emails going through that server. So it was necessary to retrieve those emails from servers earlier in the chain, reconstitute them and then send them on to the recipients. That would explain the length of time, duplication of emails, and the somewhat haphazard order that recipients got the emails. I don't think it would have been a hack leading to customers details being leaked as if that had been the case Virgin would have had to notify the ICO and customers.

It fell to earth, we know not where

All's well here, Velvet, just rather busy, I hope you're OK
