~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning all. A lovely sunny morning up here.

With a lot of wiggling and jiggling, I have managed to get the charger to work.

Only problem is I daren't move position, otherwise it dies again.

I hope your throat and sinus problem is better today, Squiggle.

El, I'm not surprised you were tempted by the honey, I love it!

Delicious!

Yogi19

Good morning everyone, thank you so much for the honey Summer, very soothing.  I am still coughing I'm afraid but I am resting.

I hear owls here but I have never seen them, although I am sure I did see what looked like a long eared owl across the valley through my binoculars a few years ago.

I haven't seen any posts from Skylark yesterday, hope you are OK Skylark

I hope its a lovely day for everyone

good morning, at last it's sunny here, and has been for a couple of hours wow that owl is.. Well.. Wow lol I knew they could do that but I've not seen a picture like it thank you yogi I'm impressed with the photographer Glad you liked the honey El, and hope squiggle liked the replacement I've got a splinter up my finger nail, I caught it on a wooden tub in our garden this morning, it's stuck too!
~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, the last time I got a splinter was on a finger on my right hand, it was too small to be able to get it out myself (didn't help that I'm right handed), so I rang my doctors surgery, made an appointment to see nurse on the same day, and she was able to get it out quite easily, so I suggest you do the same as it will be a lot easier than trying to do it yourself.

Good advice about the splinter EL.  Hope you get that darn splinter out quick Summer, I used to be a dab hand with a darning needle when my family got splinters, but its not so easy when trying to operate on yourself

Am I the only one who thinks owls look cute when they twist their heads around, or are we all still traumatised by The Exorcist?

It's cute, in a weird way.

I'd follow El's advice if you aren't able to get the splinter out by yourself, Summer.

I don't know if you remember Jeff Stewart who played Reg Hollis for years in The Bill until he was sacked, and there were reports at the time that he had tried to slash his wrists. This was back in 2008.

It looks as if he has since switched into films and seems to be fairly busy on both British and American films. These are probably low budget films and may not see the light of day here other than on DVD, and he is taking supporting roles rather than the lead. But he took the lead in a film called Under Jakob's Ladder (not directly connected with the biblical story). The film is an account of a real person and has been directed by that person's grandsons.

Some years ago a couple of Americans decided to start their own film festival - The Manhattan Film Festival - with the intent of promoting small independent films. It sounds rather like the better known Sundance Film Festival which was set up by Robert Redford. In the last week or so, the prize for best actor went to Jeff Stewart, so well done to him

El Loro

Good evening everyone.  Sorry I've not been about today but there has been "smouldering" anger building during the day.  Just a short synopsis.  I've received three letters over the course of the last few weeks changing my cholesterol and asthma medications.  NO contact whatsoever from the surgery, just letters from the PCT!!!  The ONLY reason for these changes is money, money, money!!!  I find that really, really rude.  If the surgery had contacted me and asked me to make an appointment to discuss my medications I might have felt a little less rebellious, but letters from faceless names in the PCT don't do it for me!!!

I've made an appointment to see one of the partners at our practice, but not until first week in September.  I've been sitting here writing a list of my thoughts, which I intend taking with me on the day so I don't forget what I want to say.  I'm afraid but I feel like a "second class citizen" (since I turned 60)!!!  If the doctor won't see the sense of my arguments, particularly about one of the changes in cholesteral medication which I know won't suit me, then I intend taking a stand and will be refusing to take any medications - I will just let nature take it's course and leave all the pills and blood tests behind!!!

Sorry for the rant but I know you will understand.

Joyron

Oh Joyron, that is so upsetting.  Do you have your own GP who would be more understanding about the adverse results of changing your medication and could intervene with the PCT?  Ever since NICE was introduced we have had these money saving measures which are not in the best interest of the patients.

When you have put all your thoughts down on paper please try to just relax and try to forget it for a while, I know that's easier to say than to do but please try

squiggle

Thank you for your response Squiggle.  I am quite calm now that I have put my thoughts down on paper.  I intend taking this note to the surgery with me for my appointment so that I don't forget what I want to say!!!

There is no one GP that I can talk to.  The change in medication from the latest letter, the one that worries me the most, is backed up by a partner at the surgery who I have NEVER seen or spoken to!!  I don't intend letting this go.  If they thought I was like others that just let things "roll over" then they will find that's not the case with me.  I really do mean to stop all medications if I cannot make them see sense.

Rant over.

Joyron

Joyron, I hope your prescriptions are sorted out to your satisfaction as soon as possible. I've no personal experience of just getting changes notified by post. The only changes I've ever had have been face to face with my doctor. Luckily for me I have a named doctor and if I can't see her then I use another doctor but always the same one, so they both know me.

squiggle, thanks for your concern. My daughter and i took the opportunity to give the wee one,s bedroom a clear out, as she is away on hols (back tonight ) So its all nice and tidy for her coming back, and we got rid of some toys she doesnt play with. (hope you are feeling better x)
Joyron,  i sympathise and admire you taking a stand, it may well be that it is just a change of brand name, through different companies. But i dont want to be presumptuous. Stopping all your medications isnt a good idea, but i suspect you will realise that when you calm down!
Summer, hope you have got rid of your annoying splinter  x
Hi El , nice to know Jeff is on the up again x
Hi Yogi, hope your charger holds out x

With a lot of wiggling and jiggling, it's hanging on in there.

If the new one doesn't arrive tomorrow, somebody is going to get it in the neck.

Yogi19

Thanks Skylark, I am feeling a bit better, not so many coughing fits. I am glad you got the wee one's bedroom tidied, and that you found the remote, I had flashbacks then of my daughter's bedroom when she was a teenager it was like something out of a horror movie

Yogi you have been very patient, if it don't turn up tomorrow, let them have it both barrels.

squiggle

Hi squiggle glad you are feeling better x Yes my sons room is a bit untidy, shall we say   I tidy round but as he is big enough now to clean his own room, i wont. But i am near the point of doing it, which of course is what he is waiting for !

Granddaughter not home yet, they were supposed to arrive around 7pm. My daughter is not amused. But it is normal for the other gran to be inconsiderate ..... She is one of those people who expect people to wait until SHE is ready
