News that the Book Depository site (which is owned by Amazon) is closing down later this month:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65184776
It was founded in 2004 based in Gloucester before expanding and becoming part of Amazon in 2011.

I've never used that site but I've had clients who have, typically technical books relating to their work.

Wouldn't be bothered if the whole of Amazon closed down tbh El

Tax dodgers!

Not a single instrument used...completely acapella...never ceases to amaze me

Very good, Slim

On Easter Sunday BBC Four are showing a special 90 minute programme at 20.00 featuring the a capella choral group Tenebrae. They will be singing some of Bach's motets and a couple of choral works by James MacMiillan.
For those who love choral music and a capella singing this is something not to be missed.
@Rocking Ros Rose will very interested in this.

never used it but seems a shame-sad and a sign of the times

There was a question in Pointless Celebrities about film actors who had been nominated for Oscars in two films where they played the same character. Of the 5 posers, the names of the films for 4 of them were actually mentioned at the end by Richard Osman or were fairly obvious. However he didn't name the film in which Peter O'Toole played the part of Henry II. It's quite likely that many people won;t have ever seen those films. The 1964 film was "Becket" Richard Burton played Thomas Becket (or Thomas ÃĄ Becket).

The 1968 film (which was a commercial success) was "The Lion in Winter". That also starred Katharine Hepburn as Henry's estranged wife Eleanor of Aquitaine. Hepburn was 25 years older than O'Toole, although Eleanor was older then Henry, a smaller age gap of 11 years. Incidentally, Hepburn was a rather appropriate choice as she was descended from Eleanor.

Where her strong rebel like character no doubt comes from

Think Eleanor had a lucky break when Henry VIII decided to marry her aunt, Catherine of Aragon

Good morning everyone

I'm posting late as the Virgin Media internet, land line (& tv for those who have it) were down for several hours this morning but they've been restored in the last few minutes. Not the same type of outage as on Monday and I think today's was local rather than everywhere.

A sunny day with a high of 14° forecast.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning Buddies

Sunny start to the day here. 16° forecast today and tomorrow then it’s all downhill for a week after that

Anymore trouble with your internet services El?

I hope everyone has a good day

No troubles since, Moonie, with my internet or landline services.
Got a routine  survey email from Virgin Media this morning asking me to confirm Yes or No as to whether I had recently contacted them for help. I answered No as I hadn't. Yesterday they sent me two email, first to say that an engineer was on the way, and second to say theta the problem had been fixed. Those were automatically sent, would have been unlikely that I could have contacted them at the time. Their email this morning was therefore because they sent the emails yesterday

Mark Lester became a qualified osteopath and acupuncturist and is based in Cheltenham. It's likely that I passed him from time to time as I used to work in Cheltenham though I wouldn't have recognised him from Oliver!

I guess he had to do something once the acting career ended..as he wasn't going to make it as a singer
(He didn't sing his songs in Oliver....a little girl did)

Slim, not much new of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week.
On Thursday morning at 11.05 there's "Bush Christmas" (1947). It is a children's film made for the Children's Film Foundation. It's possibly the one film made for the CFF which became quite well known and was even shown in the House of Lords. It was made in Australia (hence the title) and includes Chips Rafferty, possibly the first Australian film actor to become well known internationally.
Also on Thursday at 18.05 is another Lone Wolf film "The LW takes a chance" (1941).
