I see that there's been a change on the BBC website. The Entertainment and Culture section (which was shown between the Family & Education section and the In Pictures section in the menu) has been renamed as Culture and has been moved in the menu between Politics and Tech.
No change yet on the television Red Button/Ceefax service.
Afternoon El I hope you are having a good day .Thanks for the heads up re the bbc website l

It's been another busy day with client work. Continued work on complicated accounts work re one client. And HMRC advising agents to tell clients about being able to make voluntary national insurance contributions where there are gaps going back as far as 2006 in the NI records - people have got up to the end of July to be able to do that. So I've done a bulk email to clients about that. I won't be advising clients on if it's a good idea or not. If I say pay and it turns out in the future to have been a waste of money, clients won't be pleased. If I sat don't pay and it turns out in the future that they've lost out on state pension, they won't be pleased. I don't have access to a time machine to go into the future to find out

I think it's because he had been highlighting that it's become necessary to inform my clients even if it's not relevant to them

More work today on the complicated client accounts, I've done the easy part

I have no intention of watching BBC's "Great Expectations" starting on Sunday. Looks as if it's definitely post-watershed and the reviews aren't good. I'll stick with the David Lean film.

Welcome back, Moonie
Fun and games in the road outside my house earlier.
Started when I heard a horn sounding outside. I went to the front and saw a Curry's van reversing.
Then I saw a car trying to go down the road but having difficulties. There was a white car parked on the other side of the road and a red car parked on my side opposite the white car.
The road is not wide enough for vehicles to be able to get through when there's cars parked on both sides of the road.
The driver of the car trying to get through was inching forward, getting out of the car to see if he could get further, and then inching forward again. At that point I went outside. I was able to act as a guide for him to be able to get past the two cars without touching either. A very close thing.
Of course by then another car had approached and I had to to the same for that driver.
No other cars approaching then so I went back inside.
The white car had been parked there since yesterday and the driver lives nearby. The red car had not been there a long time so it was that driver responsible.
Then I saw the owner of the white car walking from his house towards the house next to mine. My neighbour had carers coming three times a day and the red car belonged to one of the carers.
I went outside again. White car owner had words with red car owner and the red car owner moved the red car. So peace was restored.
The carer has been there many times before, The carer did not need to park there, could have parked outside my other neighbour where there was no car parked opposite.
A few weeks ago, one of my neighbour's relatives who visits her frequently arranged for part of the lawn outside the house to be converted to be a driveway with stones for them or carers to park on rather than on the road. That's where the carer moved the red car on to.
It's only the second time I'm aware of where two vehicles have been parked opposite each other in all the years I've been here, so not a regular occurrence.

Good morning everyone
A cloudy day here and has been raining. The local total of rain falling in March now exceeds the total of January + February, not that's it's surprising with February had little rain.
I hope everyone has a good day
Slim, I haven't spotted anything new of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week. There are a number of Laurel and Hardy shorts but I've mentioned them before. The old film slot on Thursdays at 15.10 is starting to repeat ones that have already been shown at that time.

Thank you El
Seems par for the course on most channels these days to show repeats

Talking Pictures is a small independent channel so doesn't have the financial resources to be able to avoid repeats.
I think that quite a number of films it shows are on a limited rights basis such as allowed to show a film 3 times over a set time period.
Interesting Wiki article about the channel:

I have found out that the Youtube account relating to many of the old silent films I have posted about over the last couple of years has been closed.
So if you were to try and go back to see my posts and the clip is unavailable, it's not something I've done
Such is the transient nature of Youtube,

I didn't realise it was a family business, that's nice to know

Are you sure El
Yeah, You tube can be a little hit and miss sometimes
I'm sure if there is anything we want to see/find, we'll sort it on some other post
Thanks for letting us know anyways

There aren't many tv channels where you can ring them, get through to one of the main people and chat with them about a film question or something related. I've done that a couple of times

It was the Youtube account would have their clips with something else after the end of the film. It was brief extracts from other films. I had to post a warning about that as I hadn't been aware that it had included a notorious extract from Bunuel's "Un Chien Andalou". More recently they had a different ending including Chaplin grimacing. I don't know if someone complained to Youtube about the endings, but it wasn't me

I would have thought that most wouldn't even answer an email let alone a phone call...
It's that personal touch that makes the difference
