Well done
@El Loro posted:Actually we do get seagulls here. Food waste goes in a separate caddy for collection and the lid can be locked so that seagulls can't get inside
Seagulls are a nightmare...they pull all the rubbish out of the public bins around here
They're scavengers!
night EL slim Velvet
Good morning everyone
Rather chilly outside here today and a cold night forecast.
I hope everyone has a good day
Some trivia points on Sunday's very last episode of "Endeavour", "Exeunt". Partially hidden to avoid any spoilers,
Morse mentions that the dead man Andrew Lewis has a brother Robert who is a police cadet, yes, that Lewis,
Final scene includes Bright reciting a passage from "The Tempest", Anton Lesser being a Shakespearean actor.
That scene has Morse leaving Blenheim Palace in his black Jaguar passing a red Jaguar going there and a brief image of John Thaw. That is sort of a reference to the Morse episode "The Way through the Woods" which includes a scene of the Thaw Morse driving there (not quite the same scene and doesn't show a black Jaguar). That episode is the one episode of "Inspector Morse" which was written by Russell Lewis (and was the one in which Dr Hobson (Clare Holman) was introduced. There's another connection between the two episodes which is a reference to the film "Casablanca", In the "Inspector Morse" episode he enters a bookshop and says ""Of all the bookshops in all of Oxford!" a reference to ""Of all the gin-joints in all the world" Bogart quote in "Casablanca." In "Exeunt" Fred Thursday says to Win ""Here's looking at you", another Bogart quote in "Casablanca".

Afternoon Velvet.
In this part of the country, there's always a risk of snow in March up to around St Patrick's Day, this Friday. Can happen later than that.

Not too bad, Velvet
The Cheltenham race meeting starts today. I think that the people going there book hotels & guest houses months in advance and Cheltenham residents would be letting a room or two in their house to the regulars who go every years. A lot of people from Ireland go there as part of their annual holidays. Over 200,000 pints of Guinness are drunk there each day.
As I've said before, I don't go there and don't watch horse racing on television.

When you add it to all the other drinks supped over that time...yes, it is alot

Though the total number of people attending it is likely to be over 250,000 over the four days (that figure is the sum of the number for each day),

Slightly unusual results in last night;s football results in League One with all four matches being won by the away side.
The percentage of away wins is about 25.7%. For that to happen in all four matches that percentage drops to about 0.436% or 1 in 229.

Not as pretty as our Black Swans, but lovely to see they are on the increase
Unlike the impact the wild wolf could have, which was reported on the news this morning... provisions have been made for their numbers to also increase..in Europe

I don't think livestock farmers would be happy if wild wolves were introduced back into the UK

The sheep farmer being interviewed was none too happy either El.
He was saying that even the increase of electric fences wouldn't keep the wolves out

Anyone who uses the Microsoft browser Edge will have noticed the new b icon at the top right, that standing for Microsoft's Bing search engine. At this time you can't remove it without editing your device's registry.
You can hide the sidebar from always appearing via the icon near the bottom of the sidebar via Auto-hide sidebar. Sidebar then only appears via the b icon,
You can also switch off the individual items shown in the sidebar via the cross icon near the top of the sidebar Customise sidebar and then under Manage switching individual apps off.

Crazy that they want the Gull population to increase
Too often it happens where 'I told you so' gets said, when it comes to public health

The council leader said that the gull population is increasing because of changes in regulations affecting what can be done. His concern is more with urban gulls rather than coastal gulls
