Slim, some minor items on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week,
On Wednesday at 12.15 there's a short travelogue about Torquay as a holiday destination in the 1960s which was narrated by Johnny Morris .

On Thursday at 7.45 am there's a British crime drama called "Death Goes to School" (1953). A teacher at a girls school is strangled, the staff room is full of suspects. The detective inspector was played by Gordon Jackson.

The 15.10 old film on Thursday is "Radio Parade of 1935"  (released in the UK in December 1934 but presumably on general release in 1935). Musical comedy. The Director General of the NBG is struggling with his staff as the complaints pile up on his programming. The staff put on a show that could turn the tide, if the DG can thwart a villainous agent and deal with his troublesome daughter.
Sounds like an attempt to make a British version of various Warner Brothers musicals of that time. Will Hay played the DG.

Talking of Torquay, I see Faulty Towers is making a comeback...unfortunately it's not set in Torquay this time but abroad
John Cleese has his daughter acting alongside him...won't have the same feel I don't think, not that I was a massive fan tbh.

If Johnny Morris is going to do the voices like he did on 'Animal Magic', then that's definitely worth watching

'Death Goes to School' sounds like fun
is a bit early so might record that one...

'Radio Parade 1935' is on at a better time of the day and being a comedy sounds like something worth taking a look at

Thanks El

I suspect that Johnny Morris narrates rather than doing voices

I had seen that about "Fawlty Towers". It's not being made through the BBC but through Rob Reiner's production company Castle Rock Entertainment, the best known tv comedy series being "Seinfeld". Whether it will be any good remains to be seen.
Then there's one off return of "Blackadder" as part of Comic Relief but without Rowan Atkinson so another odd return

I noticed that the 1962 film "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" was shown on one of the channels yesterday. I did see it years ago and have no intention of watching it again. Nothing to do with Revelations, it's a war drama which I thought was very long and boring. It was a remake of a silent film made in 1921 which I've never seen. That was the film which made Rudolph Valentino a star.

Also stayed up to watch 'The Witches of Eastwick'...I like Jack Nicholson
Suffering a bit from the late hour today mind

I don't think you missed much not seeing "TFHOTH".

The director of "The Witches of Eastwick", George Miller has quite an extraordinary mix of films he's made. Directed the sequel to "Babe" and the two Happy Feet films, the four Mad Max films and "Lorenzo's Oil".

I've not seen any of those El
Apart from a few snippets of a 'Mad Max'.

'Lorenzo's Oil' sounds a bit of a tear jerker...

Got a phone call just now from a Birmingham survey company carrying out a survey for HMRC.
I wasn't impressed by the caller who couldn't pronounce my name correctly.

Survey was on "wealthy" clients. I told the caller that I don't have any. There's a specialised team at HMRC who deal with "wealthy" tax payers. The HMRC definition of "wealthy" is those with an income over ÂĢ200k or those who have assets exceeding ÂĢ2m.

I declined to answer any further questions.

Those McAfee spam emails have been going on for years. Clearly they are trying to get your payment card details so that the scammers can rip you off
