Couple of nice pictures there EL
The quizzical looking Robin is my favourite
And the dog mid bounce
Also liked the bridge in the park with the couple walking in the snow...shame about the wire fence to the right of the picture, I think that spoils it.

Good morning everyone
Some sunshine here today.
I hope everyone has a good day
Got emails this morning from British Gas to send them meter readings. I logged in to their website in the way I've done so in the past (in case the emails were a scam) but my electricity and gas accounts were also requesting meter readings.
Although I have smart meters there does seem to be a "connectivity issue" at British Gas's end in them getting smart meter readings at present which they say will get dealt with by them remotely "as soon as possible".
I wonder if it's connected with them changing my accounts from the old style to the present style which included a change by them of account numbers - that happened a few weeks ago so that seems quite likely.

You'd think that would be an easy enough task to do wouldn't you....but No! they always seem to muck it up somewhere along the line
Hope you manage to get it sorted El

Thanks Slim I'm leaving it up to British Gas to sort out. Until they do I may have to send them my readings as in the days before smart meters. This isn't something which affects the energy supply and I pay by monthly direct debit rather than being on prepayment meters
For those who watch "Call the Midwife", the final episode of the current series 12 will be on Sunday 26th as next Sunday the BBC has got the BAFTAs film awards.
The 13th series had already been commissioned and the BBC has now commissioned series 14 and 15 so on screen until 2026 at least with the series moving into the 1970s.

At home I have a smart meter
Dad however doesn't, so readings are given by their automated phone system...easy enough to do ...not so easy to read the gas meter which is at the back of a kitchen cupboard almost on the floor...getting down is fine, getting back up can sometimes be a chore

I try to watch, but sometimes have to watch on iPlayer
Can't believe this series is almost over
Thrilled that two more have been commissioned
I won't be watching the BAFTAs...dislike those events, I think they are a waste of time and money.

I have to crouch down to see to displays on my smart meters. First time I've looked at them since they were installed as in the old account system I could see them online. Looked up how to read them as one has to push buttons a number of times to get the screens showing the readings, rather different to the old meters which showed the readings without the need to press buttons

I record CTM episodes then watch them later, only just finished viewing the previous series
I don't watch things like the BAFTAs or the Oscars. I think I once watched part of the BAFTAs with the award of the Fellowship lifetime achievement award as the recipient was someone interesting (years ago and I don't remember who it was). Incidentally the first recipient back in 1971 was Alfred Hitchcock.

The readings for my smart meter is on a display placed on the countertop in my kitchen...no crouching necessary

Binge watched the first 10 series during lockdown, I hadn't seen it before.
Enjoyed it so made sure to watch series 11 and the current one
I have to say, I'm glad I wasn't having babies back then

You can see why it's such a popular series and it continues to do well in the viewing numbers

Yes I can
Am not a fan though when a main character leaves
Wouldn't like to see Sisiter Monica Jones go anywhere for instance

Would be sad if Sister Monica Joan does leave though Judy Parfitt is 87

Good morning everyone
Some sunshine here today and fairly mild. There's a warning of fog at present but not much sign of that.
I hope everyone has a good day
Got another one of those Amazon / international money transfer out of my card scam recorded phone calls from the unnamed "bank security department" with a phone number starting with a non-existent area code.
At present only two photos on this BBC page.
@Moonie I hope you are able to see the one taken by Sandhya Bhattaram in Welford, Northamptonshire which is a beautiful one of two swans.

This was quoted by Victoria Coren Mitchell in yesterday's Only Connect:
âA Centaur has a man-stomach and a horse-stomach. And of course both want breakfast. So first of all he has porridge and pavenders and kidneys and bacon and omlette and cold ham and toast and marmalade and coffee and beer. And after that he tends to the horse part of himself by grazing for an hour or so and finishing up with a hot mash, some oats, and a bag of sugar. That's why it's such a serious thing to ask a Centaur to stay for the weekend. A very serious thing indeed.â

(pavenders are a type of fish in the Narnia books)

Some hazy sunshine here at present, rain forecast this afternoon. Although the first half of January was very wet here, there's been hardly any rain since.
I hope everyone has a good day
Link to a Youtube clip posted by someone who has created their concept of what the Lord of the Rings films might have looked like if it had been made many years ago by one of the classic international film directors. It's just under 5 minutes and consists of black and white imagined art stills.

I note that Film 4 is showing "The Detective"AKA "Father Brown" (1954) this afternoon at 3pm (repeated next Wednesday at 3.30pm). Alec Guinness as Father Brown, Peter Finch as Flambeau, Joan Greenwood as Lady Warren (rather than Lady Felicia Montague in the tv series), Bernard Lee as Inspector Valentine (was played by Hugo Speer in the tv series).
