Gaslight
@Baz posted:Yes, that one , and the one with Ingrid Bergman , whose title escapes me right now , are great Victorian melodramas imo
That's probably "Gaslight" (1944)

Good morning everyone
Cloudy here, a bit warmer than recently.
I hope everyone has a good day
Rather misty here now. 4° outside at present but high humidity making it more like 2°.
So although warmer than recently, still below average for late January.
Afternoon El Hope you are having a good day . Itâs definitely a bit warmer here âĶ..no icy patchesâĶ.or puddlesâĶ. on my walk today .

Not too bad a day. Baz
I hope yours is OK
Just been watching an episode of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" called "The Hands of Mr. Ottermole".
Set in London in 1919 about someone going round strangling people.
It won't come as a surprise that the outdoor scenes are rather foggy

Yes, fog was a must for creepy outdoor scenes , eh .

The comet C/2022 E3 can be seen through binoculars/telescope in areas with low light pollution. It's the first time in 50,000 years since it was last here. It's been called the green comet due to its appearance.

The comet will be closest on 1 February.
Looks as if the present series of "Father Brown" will continue to be shown on Fridays only. I see that episode 6 is to be shown on February 10th, I had wondered if episodes 6 to 10 were to be shown during that week.

It's taking a long time to load El ...probably lots of traffic at present. I'll try later

I've just tried that link and it's working for me without any delay,
One can see the green comet but other than a timer counting down over the next 6 days, there's nothing much to see

Yes, I've just tried it again
I know we can't actually see it moving, but the green mist around it gives the illusion that we can...do you get that too?

Yes, I do, I think it's because of the apparent trail behind it
The reason why it appears green is because of the sunlight on some of its molecules, specifically diatonic carbon (a form of carbon which is unstable at normal temperature & pressure) and cyanogen.

So it's pretty toxic and a bit smelly then El

Yes, but I don't think there's any need to be concerned unless you are going out into space to the comet to breathe it in
By the way, apple pips, peach stones, and apricot stones have cyanide in them but you would have to eat a lot of them to get poisoned.

I'm not in any hurry to, No El
I know of someone who took his own life by ingesting cyanide ...not a pleasant way to go
His guilty conscience

Aww I enjoyed that El...how sweet was the little sister to tie leaves to the branches to try and stop her sister from dying
Thank you

Alice Guy based it on a story by O Henry called "The Last Leaf" though his story is rather different. That had been filmed, the best known being part of "O Henry's Full House" (1952) and that segment can be seen via:

The older sister was played by Anne Baxter, the younger one by Jean Peters and the artist by Gregory Ratoff. The man who introduces the segment is John Steinbeck.

That was a sad story El...
It is different, but has the same meaning behind it

Yes, I think I'd lean towards that version too, although I did like the old man
