I agree with you, it became even better known due to the most famous pottery scene in films.

Good film
@slimfern if you want to see the scene in the 1955 film "Unchained" where Todd Duncan sings what became known as "Unchained Melody" it's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G11mDi_LXe8
Film was set in a men's prison, hence the title of the film. The scene is quite downbeat and is only a minute long.

Here's a silent film made in 1928 which is just under 19 minutes long:

A link to the first film made of "Alice in Wonderland":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeIXfdogJbA
It was made in 1903 and is about 9 minutes long. It's a sequence of extracts from the book so it helps if you have read the book. There's a music track added at a much later date. The film was co-directed by Cecil Hepworth who was one of the pioneers of the British film industry.

What a shame about the damage to the film
Alice in Wonderland is a good story

That was the only surviving copy of the film . I think it would have been on nitrocellulose/"celluoid" which was widely used. Apart from being highly flammable, it deteriorates over time which makes it difficult if not impossible to restore

When I watched it I thought I must post it here as it was as bizarre as anything I've seen Of course people's sense of humour varies and although I found it funny others wouldn't.

@slimfern not much new of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel this week. The closest one is on Thursday at 6.30 in the morning, a 1936 British film called "Dusty Ermine". Reformed forger is suspected of making forged notes again, finds out that his nephew is one of the counterfeit gang so goes off to try to put a stop to it. Some of the action takes place in the Alps. Only mentioning the film as it was the first credited role of Margaret Rutherford who plays one of the gang.

Thank you El
I vaguely remember Margaret Rutherford as a 'baddie'...not sure it's the film you mentioned?
