@slimfern posted:I wouldn't put Cary Grant and Denzel Washington in the same league
I've senn hardly any of Denzil Washington's films but I don't think he's known for comedy roles. According to imdb his most recent film was him as Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was played by Frances McDormand. Directed by Joel Coen (he and McDormand are married so she appears in many of his films).

TBF I haven't seen much of his stuff and truly didn't know about his theatre performances....I guess I'm bias, Cary Grant was a bit of a legend

and a Bristol man
In Frank Capra's 1944 black comedy film "Arsenic and Old Lace" which starred Cary Grant, there are a couple of scenes in a graveyard. Apparently one of the gravestones is inscribed "Archie Leach" which was Grant's real name.
Good morning Buddies
A cold, still day here. Cloud and sunshine on occasions
Enjoy your day everyone

No wonder he changed his name
This short film was filmed in 1931 and features a very early role for Archie Leach and made before he was encouraged to change his stage name. He's not mentioned in the credits but you'll recognise him.
Incidentally the sailor who is chewing gum is the only other actor who would go on to have a notable film career - Millard Mitchell. For instance he was the studio boss in "Singin' in the Rain".
I'll only post a link to Youtube as it's not a good film:

There's James Stewart who had to change his name for films and became Stewart Granger

You may haven't heard of him but the American film actor/director Albert Brooks was born as:
Albert Einstein

Wonder if that's why they filmed there

Blimey!
Think I'd be tempted to change my name too

You're just trying to confuse me now aren't you

I might possibly have kept the name...it certainly had a ring to it
@slimfern posted:Wonder if that's why they filmed there
I think it likely that the cemetry which is right by the house in the film was made for the film.
@slimfern posted:You're just trying to confuse me now aren't you
No, I wasn't trying to confuse you James Stewart was a major star years before Stewart Granger went into films and Granger had little choice but to adopt that name,

So not exactly a coincidence then
By the way, Peter Lorre is in "Arsenic and Old Lace". His character is called "Dr Einstein"

Ah okay...I'll let you off then El

There's a publiciity photo of the cast taken in that cemetry. I think it highly unlikely that it would have ben taken if it had been a real cemetry rather than built for the film
Camille Saint-Saens' "Danse Macabre" is a well known short piece of orchestral music which has been used for films and television.
Back in 1922 Dudley Murphy made an experimental film of it. Of course at the time it was silent but he hoped that the music would be able to added to it.
A reconstruction of this was carried out by Ortiz Morales in 2008 but was remastered in 2018.

Cloudy here, the rain seems to have stopped now.

"Danse Macabre" is set on Halloween. The music was based on a rather spooky legend

Well, that would explain it
Good morning Buddies
A wet and windy start to the day here. Much of the same expected for the rest of the day too
Enjoy your day everyone
Dudley Murphy also made a short film in 1921 called "The Soul of the Cypress" It's a silent film.
He was influenced by Debussy's " Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faune". So I'm including an audio video of that which is about the same length so that both can be played together.
In case anyone does a search on Youtube for Dudley Murphy", you will come across a 1924 film called "Ballet MÃĐchanique" which lasts 16 minutes. In case you think about watching it, it's very different to the two that I posted here. It's out and out experimental and a high likelyhood of giving you a headache with flashing images, weird images, discordant soundtrack.
I'm not going to post it here

How do I play the two together?

I'm using a computer and it's just a case of clicking on the play button on one of the video clips and then striaghtaway do the same on the other clip.
