@slimfern Film 4 is showing "The Blue Dahlia" (1946) on Thursday at 2.45pm. One of the classic film noirs of the 1940s with Alan Ladd, Veronica Lake and William Bendix. If you haven't seen it before, it's worth watching. Try not to  find out how the story goes as that could be a spoiler. Ladd returns from the war with thriee others. He goes home to his wife expecting a happy reunion, but she's changed.
He becomes a murder suspect, and decides to find out who really did it.

Apparently there are two films called "Pinocchio" being released this year. One of them is a Disney version directed by Robert Zemeckis (live action/animation) and the other a darker version directed by Guillermo del Toro (wholly animation).
They both seem to be rated PG so that's could well cause some confusion for people expecting to see one version only to find that it's the other

I don't expect either will top the original...it's a classic!

Wouldn't mind watching them though

I saw the original at the cinema when I was a child, the first Disney classic I saw
Disney didn't permit their films to be shown on television at that time. No such thing as video recorders then. So they would re-release their classics to cinemas from time to time.

Same here

My memory isn't great, but I think 'Snow White' was the first Disney film I saw.

which was the first full length Disney classic
At the time is was first released the generally accepted plural of dwaf was dwarfs as used in that film's title. Thanks to J R R Tolkien's books "The Hobbit" and later "Lord of the Rings" the commonly used plural became dwarves

For those of you who still use Windows 10, the older version 21H1 is rapidly coming to the end of its service life and the monthly security update will come  to an end with the December release. Doesn't mean that it will stop working, but Microsoft won't release any further security updates.
Microsoft advise users to either move to Windows 11 or update their Windows 10 to the current version 22H2 (which was released on October 18th).

To check which version of Windows 10 -  Settings - System - About (version shown under Windows Specification)
(If it's 21H2, support continues to 13 June next year)

To update to 22H2 - Settings - Update & Security (Feature update to 22H2 link should be showing there , if not then check for updates)

My Windows 10 too was 21H2. I had noticed that the update to 22H2 had been available for a few weeks but hadn't done the update. I had noticed that Ithere was no mention on the Update & Security screen of any monthly updates, normally there's mention of an optional one a couple of weeks of it being officially released. I wait until the monthly update is officially released. The November one has been released a couple of days ago but it wasn't shown.
So yesterday morning I went ahead and did the 22H2 update which didn't take a long time and no obvious differences.
Once my computer was rebooted, I did a check for updates. There were 4 listed. So I got those downloaded and installed - those did take quite some time and at one stage I could see that 21% of one of them had been installed and it took several minutes before that changed. So, if you do decide to do those security updates, don't get concerned if they seem to have stalled, they do get done eventually. I assume that those security updates would have eventually been automatically downloaded and installed but there didn't seem to be much point in not doing them.

The version you had before (21H2) would have had Microsoft security updates until next June and I assume that you would have started getting alerts from them before then if you had stayed at 21H2.

The version we are now on has support continung until May 2024, I assume that there will be a new version issued some time next year.

Microsoft say that Windows 10 extended support will end on 14 October 2025. Whether they will have to extend that is unknown - there's the issue that many older computers (mine included) cannot have Windows 11 installed. It won't go down well if people are forced to change computers in order to be able to use Windows safely.

This laptop was only bought last year, so am expecting Microsoft to offer Windows 11 for free

Upgrading from Windows 10 to 11 is free for the time being.
From the same Update & Security page you may see a link for running the PC HealthCheck app - that's used by Microsoft to see if your laptop can take Windows 11 without any physical upgrades. If none are needed then you woulf be able to move to Windows 11 if and when you wanted to.

Yeah, I'm not in any hurry to upgrade to Windows 11 tbh.
I remember upgrading from 7 to 10...what a fiasco that was
There were a number of glitches with the programme and everything on my computer moved around, which confused the heck out of me...in the end I went back to 7
Lost all my downloaded and copied music in the process, to a cloud

I didn't actually start using 10 until Microsoft stopped supporting 7 completely. That's when I bought a new computer.

I had been using Windows 7 until February last year when the hard drive failed. My local computer people replaced the drive but only if Windows 10 was installed. So that's what happened.
(I keep all client files on an external drive doing regular backups so no client data was lost as a result of the drive failure though I had to reinstall programmes).
My local computer people aren't part of a national outfit but they provide computer service to local private individuals, local small businesses and some much larger businsses in the area.

Gor a rather suspicious email this afternoon saying "Please find and update my new bill address and my recent payment.".
Email was from someone I have never heard of and had a Brazilian email address.
There was an attachment which was an Excel file,
I'm 99% certain that the file would have had a macro in it which would have been malware or ransomware.
The email would be targetted at businesses.
Obviosuly I did not open that attachment and deleted the email.

I too don't open emails unless I know who sent them
My local council were hit by a cyber attack last December and some online services were out of action for months. The planning applications section only came back in September and then not fully back to full capacity. Cost of sorting this out has been substantial,
The cause has been identified as coming from an email  sent to a council officer who opened it.

I suspect the one sent to me was one which would have been aimed at getting into my bank account and at the same time getting my email address book to send the same email.
