I do find it absurd that there are those who can afford to spend monies like that on a piece of art and yet we have starving families ....I think I've said this before.

The charitable foundation which donated the money so that the painiting could be bought by the gallery made a similar sized donation the previous year to the University of Sheffield so that it could be used for medical research into rare genetic diseases and cancers.

The colours seem seem very similar to those of the Hubble photo which in 1995 though the image is a lot more detailed. So I don't think the colours would have been added.
However the distance between the telescopt and that area is around 7,000 light years away.In miles that's very roughly 40,000,000,000,000,000 miles. I would think that close to that area, it would look somwhat different.

Here's a Youtube 3 minute clip. The creator of the clip has used extracts from Hitchcock's "The Trouble with Harry" purely to show some of the landscape together with part of Bernard Hermann;s score, there's no dialogue and nothing happens.
The film was filmed in Vermont in autumn to get the autumnal colours.
The clip's creator doesn'r allow the clip to be embedded so here;s a link to it:

I watched that after you recommended it...a good film
Have it in my you tube library now.

It's a lovely landscape ...could almost be England, barring the buildings.
