A cravat?

Yes Nick Cravat and Burt Lancaster were a double act as acrobats in a circus before Lancaster moved into films. Cravat was in 11 of Lancaster's films. Films such as  "The Flame and the Arrow" (1950) and "The Crimson Pirate" (1952) were very enjoyable swashbuckler films of that time, the closest to the Errol Flynn films. Cravat had a very thick Brooklyn accent which is why he pkayed the part of a mute in those films. Cravat and Lancaster included some of their acrobatic skills in those.

Discovered this morning that the A40 from Gloucester to Cheltenham was closed by the police. Initially I tried the old Gloucester/Cheltenham road. Extremely slow moving at the Gloucester end. I remembered that there would also be problems at the Cheltenham end due to ongoing roadworks. So I turned round after a few minutes (at  a turnoff to what used to be a garden centre), and went a longer route which I sometimes use. Came back that way as well. 24 miles round journey compared to 10 but back home only slightly later.
Now found out the reason for the closure which is grim

Yes An 18 year old man in his car who crashed into a stationary DAF truck parked in a layby at 11pm last night. Truck driver has minor injuries. Happened on the A40 between the M5 junction and the Gloucester end of the bypass. Dual carriageway and laybys on both sides near the junction with the M5. Those laybys are frequently used by lorry drivers to take a break from driving. Road closed due to police investigating to determine why the accident happened.

@slimfern not much on the Talking Pictures tv channel over the coming week. There are a couple of films which may be of interest:
Monday 18.00 "Mr Denning Drives North" (1951). A British aircraft engineer (John Mills) accidentally kills his daughter's boyfriend and tries to cover it up. Type of film which Hitchcock would have made into a better film. Of interest is that the screenplay was by Alec Coppel who subsequentky was one of the writers of the screenplay for "Vertigo".
Tuesday 10.00 am "House of Strangers" (1949). Man (Richard Conte) scarred by betrayal vows vengeance against his brothers on release from prison  but has a change of heart. More of a family drama than a film noir and well written and acted. The father was played by Edward G Robinson, Directed by Joseph L Mankiewicz. Worth watching.

This one does sound like something Hitchcock could do well
I might have to watch it if only to find out what the overly ornate ring is all about

There's that bad parenting again hey El and goes to show, the apple never falls far from the tree

I'll have a go at this one seeing as you say it is worth it

BBC One's "Doctors" is a very variable series but sometime it can be exceptional.
The following are links to 3 episodes on iplayer. The three are about a guest character called Jan Fisher played by Lucy Benjamin. The only regular from the series is Emma. The three episodes form a standalone trilogy and you don't need to have ever seen Doctors before.
First was shown on 24 May last year:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000wgd7
Second was shown last Friday:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001clcd
As was the third:

Forget Lisa Fowler from Eastenders, Lucy Benjamin is a fine actress.
