A French 1909 silent film (no subtitles but has a music track) made by Segundo de ChomÃģn. Not exactly the most accurate science fiction film ever made Probably inspired by Georges MÃĐliÃĻs "Voyage to the Moon"

No....I would agree with you on that El

I got a hint of Flash Gordon from the opening scene...I think it was his facial hair

@slimfern possible films on the Talking Pictures tv channel for the coming week:
Monday 6.30 in the morning "Woman on the Run" (1950) Film noir, title somewhat misleading as the storyline is that an eyewitness to a murder is pursued by his wife, the police and the killer around San Francisco.
Wednesday 12.15pm "Young and Innocent" (1937). You may have seen this before but I haven't mentioned it. Alfred Hitchcock film about a man on the run after a murder charge and enlists the help of a young woman. Good but a lesser film than "The 39 Steps".
Saturday 18.05 "The Woman in Question" (1950) British film about the murder of a fortune teller and the police interview the 5 prime suspects but each show a difference aspect of the victim.  The Japanese film "Rashomon" had been released in Japan by then but not in this country. The Rashomon effect is a term given to where various people give diiferent accounts of an incident in irder to build up a complete account.

Baz yes, it was quite fascinating. It must have been something for those watching it at the time. Bell showed the film at the local cinemas when they were installing the technology.in that area.

Yes, it must have taken some getting used to at the time , eh El .I guess they showed it at the cinema because the majority of people probably wouldn’t have a tv â€Ķ.but I wonder when in 1940 it was first shown â€Ķ.before Pearl Harbour ?

Pearl Harbot attack was on 7 December 1941 so that film must have been seen before then
