Thanks El

A bit of Laurel and Hardy comedy never fails

Interested to see Alastair Sim in his debut role, at a reasonable hour though

There's a copy of "The Riverside Murder" on youtube. Alastair Sim's role is very much as a support as a police sergeant  to the inspector. The film was directed by the American director Albert Parker who had previously directed 3 of Gloria Swanson's silent films. Don't expect much from the film though.

Had a computer problem this afternoon. After turning it off for some time and then restarting, I've been able to get on here. I do not know if the problem has gone away or will come back. If I'm missing from the forum for a few days then it will because the problem has come back and I've had to take it in to my computer people to get it sorted out.

Oh El, I really hope it was a one off glitch

Looks pretty but doesn't sound very hospitable...I'd be surprised if they discover life on it

Jupiter is a gas giant and it's not known if there is any solid core or not. The pressure of the atmosphere is so high that it's hard to think that there could be any life there,
If there is any life it's thought more likely on some of the moons Io, Europa, Ganymede or Callisto. Of those Europa would be the most likely. NASA are to send the Europa Clipper there in 2024 with the intent to see if the conditions are such that life could be possible. It's a flyby rather than an attempt to land, Under the icy crust, there may be a liquid ocean of water which may be close to freezing point.

So I doubt Branson will be booking his balloon ride there just yet then

A possibility of life in a liquid ocean if there is one El?

If there were any life there it's thought to be microbial. Anything more advanced would be speculative and in the realms of science fantasy such as Arthur C Clarke's "2010: Odyssey Two" (his sequel to "2001").
